  • The investigation of subsynchronous resonance by utilities has resulted in proposed and applied method to mitigate or eliminate SSRdamage to turbine generators. Many papers presented various methods and devices that can be used as countermeasures for the SSR. This paper introduced the availability of Superconducting magnet energy storage as an countermeasure for the SSR in the capacitor compensated transmission line.

  • the shaking table tests for 5 different model sections are performed to investigate the behaviors of quay walls during earthquakes and to evaluate the seismic performance of quay walls with countermeasures. 5 different model sections describe the cases of dense soil and loose soil in the foundation repectively the case to which gravel backfill was applied and the cases to which light material replacement method and sand compction pile method was applied repectively for sesmic countermeasure methods. Pore water pressures accelerations and deformations in quay walls and grounds are analyzed. As a result the softening of foundation and backfill soils have much influence on the behaviors of quay walls. Also light material replacement method and sand compaction pile method are effective in improving the seismic performance of quay walls.

  • The problem of the crack which occures from the reinforced concrete structure could be caused by the complexed factors. When the crack happen, it caused fatal blemish to manage and maintain the structure such as structural problem, licking, spalling, viewing Even though they study and work hard to solve this kind of problem in the world, there are no countermeasure for perfect prevention of crack. After the crack checked out, a method of repair-reinforcement has been studied and operated actively, Generally, occurance of the crack in the concrete structure could be taken as granted, no need to mention the damage from the crack, domestic construction try to hide it rather than repair basically, In many cases the construction amount for repairing the crack has to be made in the construction area and the amount is very expensive. To save the repaing fee, companys repair it under the meeting of their desire. it can be expected for the effection of the construction. For this reason, we compare a new injection method to solve the demerits of the present method, to save and use the merit of the present method.

  • In this study, the effects of oxygen component in fuel and exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) method on the exhaust emissions has been investigated for a D.I. diesel engine. It was tested to estimate change of exhaust emission characteristics for the commercial diesel fuel and oxygenate blended fuel which has five kinds of blending ratio. Dimethoxy methane(DMM) contains oxygen component 42.5% in itself, and it is a kind of effective oxygenated fuel for reduction of smoke emission. It was affirmed that smoke emission was decreased with increasing of DMM blending ratio. But, NOx emission was increased compared with commercial diesel fuel. It was needed a NOx reduction counterplan that EGR method was used as a countermeasure for NOx reduction. It was found that simultaneous reduction of smoke and NOx emission was achieved with DMM blended fuel and cooled EGR method(1015%).

  • Recenlty, there are many cases that structures are constructed on soft ground in domestic. Generally in those cases, appropriate geotechnical techniques for the ground are needed. In this study, an example for ground improvement of OO railroad station construction site is introduced and analyzed. The ground conditions of this site which is soft ground are that N value is under 6, average depth and ground water table is 24.4m, GL-1.7. So, as a countermeasure technique for bearing reinforcement, Compaction Grouting System (CGS) method was applied on construction site. To estimate the application of CGS method, piezo cone penetration test and static pile loading test were carried out during the construction. Results of analysis show that CGS method for improving the bearing capacity of soft ground is applicable for the ground well.

  • The subjects of the study are the sedimentary rock slope of the Mesozoic Gyeongsang Supergroup, which has a high risk of failure. The rocks of the slope shall be sandstone, siltstone and dacite, and discontinuities shall develop beddings, shear joints, extension joints, and dacite dyke boundary planes. The type and scale of failure varies depending on the type of rock and the strike/dip of the discontinuities, but the planar failure prevails. Based on the face-mapping data, SMR, physical and mechanical testing of rocks, the critical equilibrium analysis, all representative sections required a countermeasure method because the acceptable safety factor during dry and rainy seasons were far below Fs=1.5 and Fs=1.2. After applying the countermeasure method, both the dry and wet conditions of the slope exceeded the allowable safety factor. In particular, the face-mapping data of the slope-face, the geological cross-sections of several representative sections perpendicular to the slope-face, and the critical equilibrium analysis and the presentation of countermeasure methods that have been reviewed based on them are expected to be reasonable tools for the slope stability.

  • Random scalar countermeasures, which carry out the scalar multiplication by the ephemeral secret key, against the differential power analysis of ECIES and ECDH have been known to be secure against various power analyses. However, if an attacker can find this ephemeral key from the one power signal, these countermeasures can be analyzed. In this paper, we propose a new power attack method which can do this analysis. Proposed attack method can be accomplished while an attacker compares the elliptic curve doubling operations and we use the principle component analysis in order to ease this comparison. When we have actually carried out the proposed power analysis, we can perfectly eliminate the error of existing function for the comparison and find a private key from this elimination of the error.

  • This research was started in order to recognize the necessity of systematic and scientific approach to sinkholes, and to imply from an empirical point of view that a detailed evaluation method and measure for technique should be devised. As the result drew the risk factors that cause sinkholes by reflecting the opinions of water resources and ground experts, this research is expected to contribute to the development of a more systematic and pre-preventive evaluation index by preparing a countermeasure against sinkholes. In the future, it is necessary to develop an evaluation index toward the risk factors of sinkholes, in order to establish a scientific basis and objectivity that can determine priority, by subdividing the decision-making process that is required for preparing a countermeasure against sinkholes. In addition, a detailed methodology and related technique to measure each evaluation index should be continued to be discussed, in order to review the applicability of evaluation indices on actual sites.

  • This paper describes a restoration of retaining wall, which was collapsed by rainfall. The failure causes was analyzed by field case, and then the countermeasure was suggested. The failure causes confirmed that observance of design and construction criteria was insufficient. It also was the climate condition like a rainfall and inappropriate construction management. The stability analysis for retaining wall, soil improvement and reinforced earth wall was conducted to confirm validity of the countermeasure. The analysis results showed that the suggested construction method satisfied in required safety factors. Therefore, it should be secured the stability of the structure based on the application of appropriate design method and construction management, when structure was constructed.
