In this study, analytical and experimental modal analyses of a scaled bridge model are carried out to extract the dynamic characteristics such as natural frequency, mode shapes and damping ratios. For this purpose, a scaled bridge model is constructed in laboratory conditions. Three dimensional finite element model of the bridge is constituted and dynamic characteristics are determined, analytically. To identify the dynamic characteristics experimentally; Experimental Modal Analyses (ambient and forced vibration tests) are conducted to the bridge model. In the ambient vibration tests, natural excitations are provided and the response of the bridge model is measured. Sensitivity accelerometers are placed to collect signals from the measurements. The signals collected from the tests are processed by Operational Modal Analysis; and the dynamic characteristics of the bridge model are estimated using Enhanced Frequency Domain Decomposition and Stochastic Subspace Identification methods. In the forced vibration tests, excitation of the bridge model is induced by an impact hammer and the frequency response functions are obtained. From the finite element analyses, a total of 8 natural frequencies are attained between 28.33 and 313.5 Hz. Considering the first eight mode shapes, these modes can be classified into longitudinal, transverse and vertical modes. It is seen that the dynamic characteristics obtained from the ambient and forced vibration tests are close to each other. It can be stated that the both of Enhanced Frequency Domain Decomposition and Stochastic Subspace Identification methods are very useful to identify the dynamic characteristics of the bridge model. The first eight natural frequencies are obtained from experimental measurements between 25.00-299.5 Hz. In addition, the dynamic characteristics obtained from the finite element analyses have a good correlation with experimental frequencies and mode shapes. The MAC values obtained between 90-100% and 80-100% using experimental results and experimental-analytical results, respectively.

The goal of this study is an exploratory statistical analysis of the university and college library statistics in the Academic Information Statistics System(rinfo.kr) governed of Korean Education and Research Information Service(KERIS) with performance measures based on sustainability. For the goal, we adopt a preprocessing method to develop change-rate variables by considering preceding predictive elements and succeeding performance elements, and to control external factors, such as size and socioeconomic factors. Then we execute a series of factor analyses and multiple linear regression analyses. 13 factors are extracted by the factor analyses and some sets of significant variables affecting the performance measures are identified through the regression analyses. Based on the results, we discuss the problem of out-lier and low correlation between variables. A suggestion for developing new variables is also discussed based on low effect sizes of the developed regression models. We hope that this study contributes to diffuse discussions on statistics system, evaluation, and further library management based on sustainability.
Bolted joint connection is the most commonly used connection element in structures and devices. The loosening due to external dynamic loads cannot be observed and measured easily and may cause catastrophic loss especially in an extreme requirement and/or environment. In this paper, an innovative Real-time Cross-Correlation Method (RCCM) for monitoring of the bolted joint loosening was proposed. We apply time reversal process on stress wave propagation to obtain correlation signal. The correlation signal's peak amplitude represents the cross-correlation between the loosening state and the baseline working state; therefore, it can detect the state of loosening. Since the bolt states are uncorrelated with noise, the peak amplitude will not be affected by noise and disturbance while it increases SNR level and increases the measured signals' reliability. The correlation process is carried out online through physical wave propagation without any other post offline complicated analyses and calculations. We implemented the proposed RCCM on a single bolt/nut joint experimental device to quantitatively detect the loosening states successfully. After that we implemented the proposed method on a real large structure (reaction wall) with multiple bolted joint connections. Loosening indexes were built for both experiments to indicate the loosening states. Finally, we demonstrated the proposed method's great anti-noise and/or disturbance ability. In the instrumentation, we simply mounted Lead Zirconium Titanate (PZT) patches on the device/structure surface without any modifications of the bolted connection. The low-cost PZTs used as actuators and sensors for active sensing are easily extended to a sensing network for large scale bolted joint network monitoring.
This study was conducted to estimate phenotypic and genetic parameters of body condition score (BCS) and reproductive traits in Hanwoo cows. DFREML procedures were applied to obtain variance-covariance components and heritability estimates with single or two-trait models. Estimates of phenotypic correlations of BCS at service with BCS at calving was 0.16 and 0.26 with calving interval, 0.08 with gestation length, and 0.06 with number of services per conception, respectively. Estimates of phenotypic correlation of BCS at calving was 0.10 with calving interval, 0.13 with gestation length, and 0.10 with number of services per conception, respectively. Estimates of phenotypic correlation were low and negative, -0.11 between calving interval and gestation length and -0.13 between gestation length and number of services per conception. Estimates of direct genetic correlation were -0.06, between BCS at service and BCS at calving, 0.37 between BCS at service and BCS at weaning, and -0.18 between BCS at calving and BCS at weaning. Estimates of direct genetic correlation of days from calving to the 1st service were 0.17 with number of services per conception and -0.21 with BCS at service. Estimates of direct genetic correlation for BCS at calving were -0.02 with number of services per conception and -0.08 with BCS at service. Estimates of direct genetic correlation for BCS at weaning were 0.02 with number of services per conception and -0.07 with BCS at service. Estimates of direct heritability from single trait analyses were 0.13 for BCS at service, 0.20 for BCS at calving, 0.02 for BCS at weaning, and 0.20 for number of service per conception, respectively. Estimates of direct heritability were 0.20 for birth weight and 0.10 for weaning weight.
Purpose: In real life there are both straight-paths and curved-paths. To evaluate walking ability of both kinds, a figure-8 walking test (F8WT) was developed. The aim of this study was to validate the measure in hemiplegic patients with walking difficulties and to identify correlations of curved walking ability with straight walking ability, motor function, and walking performance ability. Methods: Twenty subjects participated in this study. Curved walking was measured by a F8WT. Straight walking ability was measured by a 10-meter walking test (10MWT). Dynamic balancea bility was measured by timed up and go (TUG) tests. Walking performance ability was measured using a modified motor assessment scale (MMAS). Motor function was measured by the Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA) scale. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis. Linear regression analyses were performed to explore other functional tests in mobility ability by F8WT time, 10MWT (dependent variable). Results: There was a significant positive correlation of F8WT time with 10MWT and TUG. There was a significant negative correlation of F8WT time with MMAS and FMA-coordination. There was a significant positive correlation of 10MWT with TUG. There was a significant negative correlation of 10MWT with MMAS and FMA-coordination. The F8WT time for curved walking ability was attributed to 10MWT for straight walking ability as 94% level of contribution. Conclusion: The results suggest that the F8WT is a good instrument for measuring walking ability because there is a robust correlation of F8WT time with 10MWT, TUG, MMAS, and FMA-coordination in hemiplegic patients who, after stroke, have a mobility deficiency.

The estuary of Nakdong River area including Noksan industrial complex and Busan New Port is composed of thick unconsolidified sediments containing abundant clay, and thus is a potential hazardous area of ground subsidence. We analyzed mineral compositions and geotechnical properties of the clay sediments that sampled from 4 boreholes of the area, and examined vertical variations and their correlations. The results showed correlations between some mineral constituents and geotechnical properties of clay sediments. A positive correlation showed between quartz content and wet unit weight, whereas a negative correlation showed between quartz content and liquid limit. Feldspar content and water content showed a negative correlation, whereas content of clay minerals and liquid limit showed a positive correlation. And also, there is a negative correlation between content of clay minerals and wet unit weight. Correlation equations are obtained from the multiple regression analyses among plastic index, content of clay mineral, smectite and clay fraction.
This study analyzed the current meter records along with wind records for over 500 days obtained in the Kangjin Bay, South Sea, Korea spanning from March, 2003 to Nov. 2005. Various analyses include descriptive statistics, harmonic analysis of tidal constituents, spectra and coherence, the principal axis, progressive vector diagrams. These analyses can illustrate the response of residual current to the local wind resulting in the net drift with rotational motion. Current speed ranges from -28 to 33 (cm/sec), with standard deviations from 6.5 to 12.9 (cm/sec). The harmonic analyses of the tidal current show the average form number, 0.12 with semi-diurnal type and the rectilinear orientation of the major axis toward northeast. The magnitudes of the semi-major range from 12.7 to 17.7 (cm/sec) for M2 harmonics, while for S2 harmonics, they range from 6.3 to 10.4 (cm/sec), respectively. In the spectral and coherency analysis of residual current and wind, a periodicity of 13.6 (day) is found to be most important in both records and plays an important role in the net drift of residual current. The progressive vector diagrams of residual current and wind show two types of behaviors such as unidirectional drift and rotational motion. It was also found that 3 % rule holds approximately to drive 1 (cm/sec) drift current by 30 (cm/sec) wind speed based on the correlation of the semi-major axis of wind and residual current.
Korea Electric Power Research Institute has developed the in-house safety analysis methodologies for non-LOCA(Loss Of Coolant Accident) events based on codes and methodologies of vendors and Electric Power Research Institute . According to the new methodologies, analyses of system responses and calculation of DNBR(Departure from Nucleate Boiling Ratio) during the transient have been carried out with RETRAN code and a sub-channel analysis code, respectively. However, it takes too much time to calculate DNBR for each case using the two codes to search for the limiting case from sensitivity study. To simplify the search for the limiting case, accordingly, RETRAN code has been modified to roughly calculate DNBR using hot channel modeling. The W-3 correlation is already included in RETRAN as one of the auxiliary DNBR models. However, WRB-1 and WRB-2 correlations required to analyze some Westinghouse type fuels are not considered in RETRAN DNBR models. In this paper, the RETRAN DNBR models using the correlations have been developed and the partial and complete loss of forced reactor coolant flow events have been analyzed for Yonggwang units 1 and 2 with the new methodologies to validate the models. The results of the analyses have been compared with those mentioned in the chapter 15 of the Final Safety Analysis Report.

Purpose: This study was done to examine the relationship of job satisfaction and organizational commitment of perioperative nurses. Method: The subjects of this study were 500 perioperative nurses from 11 hospitals. The data were collected by self-reporting questionnaires from Sep. 19 to Sep. 27, 2009. Results: There was statistically significant relationship among the five variables. The analyses of covariance of these five variables revealed overall significant (p<.05). Stepwise linear multiple regression analyses were used to examine the influence of these five variables. Results indicated that the variables for verbal abuse (p<.01), workplace climate (p<.01), internal marketing (p<.001), and job transfer (p<.001) contributed significantly to the job satisfaction (adjusted R square=.426), while the verbal abuse (p<.01), internal marketing (p<.01), leadership style (p<.001) and workplace climate (p<.001) did to the organizational commitment (adjusted R square=.351). Canonical correlation analyses revealed that internal marketing and workplace climate contributed most significantly both to job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Conclusion: This study found that all these five nursing managerial factors were important influential on both job satisfaction and organizational commitment of perioperative nurses. Addressing these factors with further research will surely improve the commitment of these nurses and ultimately lead to better perioperative nursing care.
The Purpose of this study was to examine how children's perceptuions of parental childrearing behaviors and family support were related to their interpersonal problem-solving behaviors. 580 subjects of the 5th 6th grades filled out questionnaires concerning the three research variables. The data were analyzed through correlation analyses and regression analyses. The results were as follows: The significant correlations were found between parental warmth·acceptance and children's interpersonal problem-solving behavior and between family support and problem-solving behaviors. Problem-solving behaviors showed higher correlations with maternal warmths·acceptance than paternal behaviors and with opposite-sex parents behaviors than with same-sex parents behaviors. Family support predicted children's social problem-solving behaviors better than parental warmth·acceptance especially among boys.
