A heat pump system is a highly efficient, eco-friendly device which consumes a small amount of energy and supply a lot of energy for heat formation. In addition, it is a single device system that has low generation effect about carbon dioxide. There are many researches related to the electronic expansion valve and the heat pump, but the detailed data analysis of each influence is insufficient. In this study, the cooling capacity and COP of the heat pump system were investigated by varying frequency of the inverter connected to compressor, inlet temperature of chilled water into evaporator and inlet temperature of cooling water into condenser. The results are as follows : (1) The cooling capacity increased as the inverter frequency, inlet temperature of chilled water into evaporator increased, and inlet temperature of cooling water into condenser decreased. (2) The COP increased as the frequency of inverter, inlet temperature of cooling water into condenser decreased and the inlet temperature of chilled water into evaporator increased.
Purpose: This study was conducted in order to determine whether mechanical horseback-riding training depending on velocity can improve vestibular function and static postural balance on standing in healthy adults. Methods: For evaluation of vestibular function, electrooculography (EOG) of vertical and horizontal was performed for identification of the motion of eyes. For evaluation of static postural balance, COP distance, time spent on the sharpened Romberg test with neck extension (SRNE) were measured. Measurements were performed three times before training, three weeks after training, and six weeks after training. Participants were randomly assigned to three groups: fast velocity-mechanical horse -riding training (FV-MHRT, n=12), moderate velocity-mechanical horse-riding training (MV-MHRT, n=12), and slow velocity-mechanical horse-riding training (SV-MHRT, n=12). Results: According to the result for vertical, horizontal EOG, there was significant interaction in each group in accordance with the experiment time (p<0.05). The FV-MHRT group showed a significant decrease compared with the MV- MHRT, SV-MHRT groups (p<0.05). According to the result for static postural balance, the time spent, COP distance in SRNE showed significant interaction in each group in accordance with the experiment time (p<0.05). The time spent on the SRNE showed a significant increas in FV-MHRT, SV-MHRT (p<0.05). The COP distance of SRNE showed a significant increase in MV-MHRT (p<0.05). Conclusion: The MHRT velocity activated mechanism of vestibular spinal reflex (VSR), vestibular ocular reflex (VOR), also helped to strengthen vestibular function and static postural balance. In addition, it should be applied to different velocity of MHRT according to the specific purpose.
We analyzed how insole affects the dynamic stability and the balance while a body moves or stops. Specially we've sorted out variations of individual balance ability while we make a longitudinal arch stop artificially as a usual situation(just standing and putting one's weight). We found ten men and girls each with suitable feet for our experimentation as the subject of investigation and made individual insole for them by measuring medial longitudinal arch. Then we compared before and after movement of the power point of application and a pattern of COP using the Tetrax balance equipment. We found out it is better for balance ability when we wear insoles. It turned out to be helpful for increasing balance ability of body to use insole which supports medial longitudinal arch of longitudinal arch well.

The purpose of this study was to investigate changes in the center of pressure (COP), ground reaction force (GRF) and joint angles of elderly people and young people while stair-descent. The participants in this experiment were 5 elderly people and 5 young people, each of which was asked to descend stairs of three different heights (8 cm, 16 cm, and 32 cm). As they climbed down the stairs, they received vibration stimulation on the lower limb. The change of COP, GRF and joint angles were analyzed during the standing phase. COP decreased as the Achilles tendon and tibialis anterior tendon were vibrated. Vertical GRF increased as the Achilles tendon was vibrated, and the joint angle differed according to vibration stimulation conditions. These results mean that ankle joint, knee joint and hip joint were influenced by the vibrations on the lower limb as the participants descended the stairs. It was concluded that the vibration stimulation on the lower limb allowed the participants to efficiently climb down the stairs.

In this paper, cycle performance analysis for cooling capacity, compression work and COP of R744($CO_2$) transcritical vapor compression refrigeration system is presented to offer the basic design data for the operating parameters of the system. The operating parameters considered in this study include superheating degree, outlet temperature of gas cooler and evaporating temperature in the R744 vapor compression cycle. The main results were summarized as follows : The cooling capacity of R744 increases with superheating degree, but decreases with the increasing evaporating temperature and outlet temperature of gas cooler. The compression work increases with superheating degree and cooling pressure of R744, but decreases with the increasing evaporating temperature. And, The COP increases with outlet temperature and evaporating temperature of R744 gas cooler, but decreases with the increasing superheating degree. Therefore, superheating degree, outlet temperature and evaporating temperature of R744 vapor compression refrigeration system have an effect on the cooling capacity, compression work and COP of this system. With a thorough grasp of these effect, it is necessary to design the compression refrigeration cycle using R744.

A system simulation program was developed for a multi-type inverter heat pump. Electronic expansion valve(EEV) was used to extend the capacity modulating range of the heat pump as expansion device. The program was also developed to calculate actual system performance with the building load variation with climate during a year. The performance variation of a multi-type hat pump with two EEV and an inverter compressor was simulated with compressor speed, capacity, and flow area of the EEV. As a result, the optimum operating frequency of the compressor and openings of the expansion device were decided at a given load. As compressor speed increased, he capacity of heat pump increased, the capacity of heat pump increased. Therefore flow area of EEV should be adjusted to have wide openness. Thus the coefficient of performance(COP) of the heat pump decreased due to increasement of compressor power input. The maximum COP point at a given load was decided according to the compressor speed. And under the given specific compressor speed and the load, the optimum openings point of EEV was also decided. Although the total load of indoor units was constant, the operating frequency increased as the fraction of load in a room increased. Finally ad the compressor power input increased, the coefficient of performance decreased.

Thermodynamic properties of R-32 are calculated and its refrigeration performance is evaluated for the purpose the feasibility study of replacing R-22 with R-32. (1) Refrigeration effect of R-32 is superior to that of R-22 because heat of evaporation of R 32 is about 50% higher than that of R-22. However, COP of R-32 system is 10-30% lower than that of R-22 system. It is mainly attributed to the vapor pressore of R-32 being about 62% higher than R-22. (2) Since the pressure ratio and the specific heat ratio of R-32 system is higher than those of R -22, compressor discharging temperature rises as high as to $130-150^{\circ}C$. It may cause mechanical failure of compressor due to the breakdown of lubricant. Compressor should be improved to lower the temperature if R-32 is to replace R-22. (3) Averaged two-phase heat transfer coefficient of R-32 is about 10-20% higher than that of R-22. It may assume better heat exchanger effectiveness but not guarantee the better COP of R-32 system than R-22. (4) The high vapor pressure is the first reason to drop R-32 out of the line of R-22 alternative refrigerant. So, refrigerant mixtures based on R-32 are recommended to adjust the vapor pressure first and keep superior volumetric capacity of R-32.

In this study, HFC152a, HFC134a/HFC152a and HC290/HFC134a/HFC152a mixtures are studied for the supplementary and alternative refrigerants for HFC134a used in automobile air-conditioners. Due to the high global warming potential of HFC134a, it has to be phased out in the long run. Thermodynamic performance of these refrigerants are measured in a bench tester of 3.5 kW capacity with an open type compressor under both summer and winter conditions. Test results show that the coefficient of performance (COP) and capacity of pure HFC152a and HFC134a/HFC152a mixture are 9.1~12% and 7% higher than those of HFC134a. As for the HC290/HFC134a/HFC152a, the COP is up to 9.5% higher than that of HFC134a with 1~2% of HC290 while that is up to 6.1% lower than that of HFC134a with 5% HC290. The capacity of the ternary mixture, however, is 8.6% higher than that of HFC134a at all compositions tested. The compressor discharge temperatures of all refrigerants tested are $6{\sim}10^{\circ}C$ higher than that of HFC134a. For all refrigerants, the amount of charge is reduced up to 32% due to the decrease in liquid density. Overall, these refrigerants provide good performance with reasonable energy savings with less environmental problem and thus can be used as long term alternatives for automobile air-conditioners.
In this study, the compact type solar thermal and ground coupled heat pump hybrid system for space heating/cooling and hot water supply has been developed. This hybrid system was installed in Zero Energy Solar House(ZeSH) in KIER for the demonstration. The thermal performance and operational characteristics of this hybrid system were analysed especially. The results are as follows. (1) This hybrid system was designed in order to address the existing disadvantages of solar thermal/ground coupled heat pump system. For this design, all parts except solar collector and ground coupled heat pump were integrated into a single product in a factory. The compact type unit includes two buffer tanks, an expansion tank, pumps, valves, a controller, etc. This system has an advantage of easy installation with simple plumbing work even in narrow space. (2) The thermal charging and discharging time of the buffer tanks and its characteristics by ground coupled heat pump, and heat pump COP according to geo-source temperature and buffer storage temperature have been studied. This system was found to meet well to the heat load without any other auxiliary heating equipment. (3) The operating hours of the ground coupled heat pump as a backup device of solar thermal can be reduced significantly by using solar heat. It was also found that the minimum heating water supply setting temperature and maximum cooling water supply setting temperature make an influence on the heat pump COP. The lower heating water and the higher cooling water temperature, the higher COP. In this respect, the hybrid system's performance can be improved in ZeSH than conventional house.

Experimental studies for an indirect R404A-$CO_2$ refrigeration system and a direct R404A refrigeration system were conducted. The configurations of the indirect R404A-$CO_2$ refrigeration system are a R404A refrigeration system as a top cycle and a circulating $CO_2$ system as a bottom cycle. The direct R404A system was modified from indirect R404A-$CO_2$ refrigeration system by removing circuit for $CO_2$ circulation. Various tests for both systems were conducted by changing load side brine temperature from 0 to 5 and $10^{\circ}C$ with cooling brine temperatures for R404A system at 15, 20, or $25^{\circ}C$. The indirect R404A-$CO_2$ refrigeration system showed the highest COP when load side brine temperature was at $10^{\circ}C$ in the evaporator and at cooling brine temperature of $15^{\circ}C$. The COP of 3.04 under that condition was the highest. This indirect R404A-$CO_2$ refrigeration system showed 9.02% higher COP than the direct R404A system that had increased pipeline length of 15 m, which simulated actual installation in a supermarket.
