Cooperative diversity is a cooperative technique which exploits user diversity by decoding the combined signal of the relayed signal and the direct signal in wireless multi-hop networks. Using the cooperation, the performance of the network system can be improved because cooperative diversity which is very strong against the fading channels can be achieved. In this paper, we propose the technique that provides the enhanced visual quality of the reconstructed video using the cooperative diversity with the FMO which is the error resilience tool of H.264/AVC standardization over wireless networks. The eye-tracker can detect the gaze point of user and transmit the gaze information to the nodes. After receiving the gaze information of user, each node performs ROI encoding according to the received gaze information. After encoding, video sources are divided into ROI and Non-ROI. Through the simulation results, the better visual quality of the reconstructed video is achieved when ROI and Non-ROI are transmitted through different channels.

MIMO system generally requires more than one antenna at the communication device. However, many wireless devices are limited by size, cost or hardware complexity to one antenna. To overcome such restrictions, we used a new technique, called cooperative communication. We propose a new cooperative transmission strategy system using cross-layer coding method base on H-ARQ for optimal communication. Proposed cooperative H-ARQ system that can improve the above problems and can get the better performance. In proposed cooperative system with H-ARQ method, if the received signal from source node is satisfied by the destination preferentially, the destination transmit ACK message to both relay node and source node, and then recovers the received signal. In addition, if ARQ message indicates NACK message, relay node operates selective retransmission. Based on the simulation results in aspect to BER performance and throughput, the proposed method which combined cooperative system with H-ARQ based on cross-layer coding can improve spectral efficiency reliability of system compared with that of general one by one system.

In this paper, we carried out a study on how to find an appropriate helper node for cooperative communications, the role of which is very import to enhance system throughput of wireless communication system. The busy tone cooperative MAC (BT-COMAC) protocol proposed in this paper is a new cooperative MAC protocol with a reactive helper node scheme and maximizes the benefits of existing schemes while making up for their shortcomings. We conducted performance evaluation of this new protocol using computer simulation experiment. System throughput in bps and channel access delay are utilized as performance measures. We used a random way point mobility model where every communication node moves independently one another, and slow fading channel where every communication node decided its transmission rate with received power basis. Numerical results show that the new MAC protocol enhances system throughput as much as 15% of the existing scheme.

In this paper, we analyze the performance of the cooperative cognitive radio relay system which is adapted the recently highly focused cognitive radio system. The performance comparison is made between the system with and that without the opportunistic transmission relay. Especially the selection combining is considered at the destination for simple implementation. In this case, the effect of the channel state information (CSI) delay, which is caused essentially by the process during the CSI delivery, to the system performance is considered. It is noticed that the performance of the system with the opportunistic relay degrades up to 0.6 dB at a given condition compared to the system without the opportunistic relay. And it is shown that the system performance is more sensitive to the CSI delay compared to the frequency acquisition probability of the cognitive radio relay.

This paper proposes a payment-based power control scheme using non-cooperative game with a novel pricing function in cognitive radio networks (CRNs). The proposed algorithm considers the fairness of power control among second users (SUs) where the value of per SU' signal to noise ratio (SINR) or distance between SU and SU station is used as reference for punishment price setting. Due to the effect of uncertainty fading environment, the system is unable to get the link gain coefficient to control SUs' transmission power accurately, so the quality of service (QoS) requirements of SUs may not be guaranteed, and the existence of Nash equilibrium (NE) is not ensured. Therefore, an alternative iterative scheme with sliding model is presented for the non-cooperative power control game algorithm. Simulation results show that the pricing policy using SUs' SINR as price punishment reference can improve total throughput, ensure fairness and reduce total transmission power in CRNs.

Recently, the introduction of Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) has been attempted to solve the limitation of only the sensor of the vehicle itself. For example, vehicles traveling at intersections can drive more safely through C-ITS. By using V2X communication of WAVE and LTE, the driver can receive the status and time of traffic lights. However, LTE has a larger transmission delay time than WAVE, so timimg data may not match in real time. In this paper, using the SPaT message, it was confirmed that LTE has a larger C-ITS service transmission delay time than WAVE. Finally, it was confirmed that the timing data of SPaT provided by LTE corrected by the algorithm is similar to SPaT provided by WAVE. It was confirmed that safer intersection driving is possible based on real-time.

In this paper, we firstly propose a novel cooperative transmission protocol, which utilizes the advantages of mid-notes in the route from the source to the destination. Taking benefits from balancing between the received packet from the source and acknowledge message from the destination, the mid-node between the source and the destination is firstly considered to be the broadcaster. If its signal is successfully received from the source, it leads to consider the next nodes, which has closer distance to the destination than it. If one of these nodes correctly receives the signal, it performs broadcasting the signal to the destination instead of mid-node. Otherwise, the mid-node directs attention to these nodes being near to the destination. As the result, some nodes are unnecessary to be considered and passed over time. After that, we analyze some published selection relaying schemes based on geographic information to choose the best nodes instead of the instantaneous SNR as before. Finally, simulation results are given to demonstrate the correctness of the performance analyses and show the significant improvement of the selection relaying schemes based geographic information compared to the other ones.

In this paper, we propose a novel Alamouti space-time transmission scheme for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based asynchronous cooperative communication systems with low relay complexity. The conventional scheme requires an additional operation likes time-reversal at the relay nodes besides the simple multiplications at the relay nodes, which result in increasing the complexity of relay nodes. Unlike the conventional scheme, exploiting the simple combination of the symbols at the source node and the simple multiplications at the relay nodes, the proposed scheme achieves the second order diversity gain by obtaining the Alamouti code structure at the destination node. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves the second order diversity gain and has the same bit error rate performance as the conventional scheme.
In a wireless sensor network (WSN), the data transmission technique based on the cooperative multiple-input multiple-output (CMIMO) scheme reduces the energy consumption of sensor nodes quite effectively by utilizing the space-time block coding scheme. However, in networks with high node density, the scheme is ineffective due to the high degree of correlated data. Therefore, to enhance the energy efficiency in high node density WSNs, we implemented the distributed source coding (DSC) with the virtual multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) data transmission technique in the WSNs. The DSC-MIMO first compresses redundant source data using the DSC and then sends it to a virtual MIMO link. The results reveal that, in the DSC-MIMO scheme, energy consumption is lower than that in the CMIMO technique; it is also lower in the DSC single-input single-output (SISO) scheme, compared to that in the SISO technique at various code rates, compression rates, and training overhead factors. The results also indicate that the energy consumption per bit is directly proportional to the velocity and training overhead factor in all the energy saving schemes.
