Experimental studies on determination of the supply leading time of propellants to combustion chamber have been made to stably and efficiently guarantee the ignition process with liquid rocket engine. The propellant used is a Jet A-1 as fuel and a liquid oxygen as oxidizer. Unlike impinging FOOF type of injectors are arranged radially and the designed O/F ratio is 2.34. The present experiment program also includes the stability on the quadlet type of ignitor using the triethylalumimum as an ignition source and injector life tests. Experimental results clarifies that the propellant supply through LOx leading to combustion chamber is proper for stable ignition and combustion processes based on the fuel and oxidizer manifold pressures, combustion chamber pressure, and the variation of flame length from the nozzle exit with lapse time, and shows that the leading supply time of propellants affects the engine performance little. The effect of positioning cooling holes is remarkable to protect the injector face.
This paper concerns the study of absorption refrigeration and heat pump cycle to use sewage. Simulation analysis on the double-effect absorption refrigeration cycle with parallel and two-stage heat pump cycle has been performed. The working fluid is Lithium Bromide and water solution. The absorption refrigeration cycle use sewage as a cooling water for the absorber and condenser, and absorption refrigeration cycle does that as a chilled water for the evaporator of the first stage cycle. And the two-stage cycle consists of coupling double-effect with parallel and single effect cycle so that the first stage absorber and condenser produces heating water to evaporate refrigerant in the evaporator of the second stage. The effects of operating variables such as a absorber temperature on the coefficient of performance have been studied for absorption refrigeration and heat pump cycle.
This study evaluates the seasonal performances of the horizontal-type geothermal heat exchanger(HGHEX) installed into the foundation slabs of the complex building located at Seoul. The geothermal system is consisted with totally 31,860m long HGHEX, 16 GSHPs (Ground-source Heat Pump) and 8 circulation pumps. This system supplies cooling and heating to the lobby(F1) and the common spaces(BF1). The average heat exchange temperature differences are $2.7^{\circ}C\;and\;2.5^{\circ}C$ in the summer, $1.5^{\circ}C\;and\;0.5^{\circ}C$ in the winter for the F1 and BF1 respectively. From these results, approximately 400Gcal and 180Gcal of geothermal energy are assumed to have been used during the summer and winter seasons respectively. As a conclusion, the geothermal system is reviewed as a effective utility for heating and cooling at the point of seasonal performances.

This study was peformed to investigate the phase change temperature, the supercooling, the maintenance time of liquid phase and the change rate of volume of TMA 30 $wt\% clathrate compound with additives. TMA 30 $wt\% clathrate compound with additive was cooled at heat source temperature of $-6^{circ}C$. The additives are ethylene glycol and chloroform. Their concentration are 0.1$wt\% respectively. The experimental results showed that the phase change temperature was not affected by additives and this was average $5.3^{circ}C$. Also the supercooling and the maintenance time of liquid phase were decreased by additives. Especially, the average value of supercooling showed by $8.8^{circ}C$ and the maintenance time of liquid phase was by 19 minutes in the case of chloroform 0.1$wt\%. Additionally, the average change rate of volume showed by $1.26{\~}1.31\%$ according to additives and the volume was decreased by the phase change from liquid to solid.

In general liquid rocket nozzles are protected from hot combustion gas by regenerative cooling techniques. But due to the complexity of the cooling system, it causes increase of system cost and frequently source of the system malfunction. Recently, instead of regenerative cooing, ablative material are used to protect combustion chamber wall and nozzle. To determine the nozzle material erosion rate and erosion shape, more than 500 hot fire test were performed by using 100 lb thrust experimental liquid rocket. Test variable were propellant feed sequence, injector, position of igniter and liquid oxygen supply temperature.

Cylindrical supersonic exhaust diffuser, which utilizes the momentum of high temperature gas exhausted from nozzle, provides simple methods for obtaining stable and low pressure around the propulsion system. Hot zone on which exhausted gas from nozzle exit impinges directly should be cooled to avoid melting of diffuser. This paper describes method and result of subscale high altitude simulation test with water cooling. Subscale gas generator with solid propellant was used for hot gas source and tap water for coolant.
Recently, in order to prevent increasing energy usages in the international community, many countries have attempted to develop the innovative renewable energy systems. Among the renewable energy systems, Ground source heat pump(GSHP) system which supply the heating, cooling and hot water in the building has been attracted by its stability of heat production and high efficiency. However, the initial drilling costs become very expensive and the construction period takes longer the other systems, because GSHP system needs more than 100 m depth drilling. In this study, in order to reduce initial costs of the GSHP, the building integrated geothermal system using the horizontal heat exchanger was developed. The heating and cooling load in the standard housing model was calculated by a simulation and the system design capacity in the high-rise apartment was decided by the total load. Based on the system design capacity, the high-rise apartments were applied to a BIGS and vertical GSHP system and there are analyzed about initial costs. In the result, the initial cost of BIGS could reduce 24% of the initial cost of the vertical GSHP system.

An electrode-evaporation technology on both the top and bottom sides of the bare vertical-type single chip separated from the traditional substrate by cooling, was developed for III-nitride vertical-type single chip LEDs with thick GaN epilayer. The post-process of the cooling step was followed by sorting the bare vertical-type single chip LEDs into the holes in a pocket-type shadow mask for deposition of the electrodes at the top and bottom sides of bare vertical-type single chip LEDs without the traditional substrate for electrode evaporation technology for vertical-type single chip LEDs. The variation in size of the hole between the designed shadow mask and the deposited electrodes owing to the use of the designed pocket-type shadow mask is investigated. Furthermore, the electrical and the optical properties of bare vertical-type single chip LEDs deposited with two different shapes of n-type electrodes using the pocket-type shadow mask are investigated to explore the possibility of the e-beam evaporation method.

Hydrogen is an eco-friendly energy source and is being actively researched in various fields around the world, including mobility and aerospace. In order to effectively utilize hydrogen energy, it should be used in a liquid state with high energy storage density, but when hydrogen is stored in a liquid state, BOG (boil-off gas) is generated due to the temperature difference with the atmosphere. This should be re-condensed when considering storage efficiency and economy. In particular, large-capacity liquid hydrogen storage tank is required a gaseous helium circulation cooling system that cools by circulating cryogenic refrigerant due to the increase in heat intrusion from external air as the heat transfer area increases and the wide distribution of the gas layer inside the tank. In order to effectively apply the system, thermo-hydraulic analysis through process analysis is required. In this study, the condenser design and system characteristics of a gaseous helium circulation cooling system for BOG recondensation of a liquefied hydrogen storage tank were compared.

The passive safety systems (PSSs) within water-cooled reactors are meticulously engineered to function autonomously, requiring no external power source or manual intervention. They depend exclusively on inherent natural forces and the fundamental principles of reactor physics, such as gravity, natural convection, and phase changes, to manage, alleviate, and avert the release of radioactive materials into the environment during accident scenarios like a loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA). PSSs are already integrated into such operating commercial reactors as the Advanced Pressurized Reactor-1000 MWe (AP1000) and the Water-Water Energetic Reactor-1200 MWe (WWER-1200) are adopted in most of the upcoming small modular reactor (SMR) designs. Examples of water-cooled SMR PSSs are the passive emergency core-cooling system (ECCS), passive containment cooling system (PCCS), and passive decay-heat removal system, the designs of which vary based on reactor system-design requirements. However, understanding the accident-event progression and phases of a LOCA is pivotal for adopting a specific PSS for a new SMR design. This study covers the accident-event progression for direct vessel injection (DVI) small-break loss-of-coolant accident (SB-LOCA), associated physics phenomena, knowledge gaps, and important figures of merit (FOMs) that may need to be evaluated and assessed to validate thermal-hydraulics models with an available experimental dataset to support new SMR design and development.
