A Study on Daily Cooling Load Forecast Using Fuzzy Logic (퍼지 논리를 이용한 일일 냉방부하 예측에 관한 연구)

  • The electric power load during the peak time in summer is strongly affected by cooling load, which decreases the preparation ratio of electricity and brings about the failure in the supply of electricity in the electric power system. The ice-storage system and heat pump system are possible solutions to settle this problem. In this study. the method of estimating temperature and humidity to forecast the cooling load of ice-storage system is suggested, then the method of forecasting the cooling load using fuzzy logic is suggested by simulating that the cooling load is calculated using actual temperature and humidity. The forecast of the temperature, humidity and cooling load are simulated, and it is shown that the forecasted data approach to the actual data. Operating the ice-storage system by the forecast of cooling load with night electric power will improve the ice-storage system efficiency and reduce the peak electric power load during the summer season as a result.

  • In Korea, cooling power load, which occupies about 20% of peak load in 2000 and fluctuates depending on the popular usage of air conditioning systems, has been recently the focus of the load management. The first work of KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation) to regulate cooling load as low as possible was to estimate its approximate scale and to develop the indirect methods to estimate it from the available time series data for the average hourly loads. However, KEPCO would like to have their methods improved both theoretically and practically. In this paper, we analyze their current indirect methods and detect their faults to design better indirect estimation methods. Under one of the assumptions of "no cooling load in April or May", the linear relationship between basic loads and GDP's, and the normalized seasonal factors of the Winters' multiplicative seasonal model, we provide ten indirect estimation methods in total and suggest the estimated cooling load(1988-1999) based on our various indirect methods.

A Study on Prediction of Power Consumption Rate for Heating and Cooling load of School Building in Changwon City (창원시 학교 건축물의 냉난방부하에 대한 전력 소비량 추정에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out in order to establish the estimation equation for school power consumption using regression analysis based on collected power consumption for two years of weather data and schools are located in Central Changwon and Masan district in Changwon city. (1) The power consumption estimation equation for Heating and cooling is calculated using power consumption per unit volume, the difference between actual power consumption and results of estimation equations is 4.1%. (2) The power consumption estimation equation for heating load is showed 2.6% difference compared to actual power consumption in Central Changwon and is expressed 2.9% difference compared to that in Masan district. Therefore, the power consumption prediction for each school using the power consumption estimation equation is possible. (3) The power consumption estimation equation for cooling load is showed 8.0% difference compared to actual power consumption in Central Changwon and is expressed 2.9% compared to that in Masan district. As the power consumption estimation equation for cooling load is expressed difference compared to heating load, it needs to investigate influence for cooling load.

In this study, the method of estimating temperature and humidity to forecast the cooling load of ice storage system is suggested. The method of forecasting the cooling load using neural network is also suggested. The daily cooling load is mainly dependent on actual temperature and humidity of the day. The simulation is started with forecasting the temperature and humidity of the following day from the past data. The cooling load is then simulated by using the forecasted temperature and humidity data obtained from the simulation. It was observed that the forecasted data were closely approached to the actual data.

  • In the present study, the heating and cooling characteristics of system air-conditioner using a PWM compressor or a BLDC inverter compressor are investigated by the psychometric calorimeter using air enthalpy method. Cooling and heating capacities, power inputs and COPs are measured at the low, moderate, high loads under the cooling and heating standard conditions. At cooling conditions, the capacity of the PWM system is larger than that of the inverter case. Due to large power input, however, low COPs are measured under total load ranges. At heating conditions, the capacity of the PWM method is a little larger than that of the inverter case, except high load range. Since power input is low, large COPs are measured at moderate and high load ranges, which are different from cooling data. This shows that the PW system compared with the inverter case has good energy consumption efficiency at moderate and high load ranges except low load range. And when the system A/C is operated under the cooling and heating standard conditions, COPs are nearly uniform at total load ranges.

  • This paper gives the support method of DSM program(power load leveling for heating and cooling facilities on building). As the national power peak load increases recently, the peak load reduction is needed. So we studied about remote controlling of power load from heating/cooling facilities on building during peak times. To adopt new DSM program, it is very important to design DSM customer supporting system. So in this paper, we dealt with the result of customer survey, and the DSM potential regarding heating/cooling facilities on building. In conclusion, the peak reduction program of heating/cooling facilities is very important and the incentive of customer should be consist of two incentive types as an installation and power reduction.

  • The cooling technology of power conversion semiconductors in the propulsion system for the HEMU(High Electrical Multi Unit) are applied in water cooling method and phase change method such as the immersed type and the heat pipe type. This research designs and manufactures the water cooling system that could cool about heat load Q=2kW and performance tests to apply it by an electric power conversion semiconductors(IGBT) cooling technology. Experimental condition made change of a flow rate, an air velocity and a heat load to confirm operation characteristics of water cooling device, and when is heat load 2kW, air velocity 20 m/s, and water flow rate 7kg/s, it is about $80^{\circ}C$ to temperature of cooling plate.

  • The peak demand of electricity in summer season mainly comes from the day time cooling loads. Ice thermal Storage System (ITSS) uses off-peak electricity at night time to make ice for the day time cooling. In order to maximize the use of cold storage in ITSS, the estimation of day time cooling load for the building is necessary. In this study, we present a method of cooling load estimation using 5 years of normalized outdoor temperature, relative humidity, and the building construction data. We applied the hourly-based estimation to a general hospital building with relatively less sudden heat exchange and the results are compared with the measured cooling load of the building. The results show that the cooling loads estimation depends on the indoor cooling design temperature of the building.
