  • Our government will make a plan regulating the cooling limit temperature of the summer season to 26 degree and the heating limit temperature of the winter season to 20 degree for energy saving. Where, the key point of this politic pursuit can be the charge system on heating and cooling cost. We have suggested new cost allocation methodology as a worth evaluation method in the precedent study, and preformed the worth evaluation and cost allocation on four kind of warm air produced from a heating system as an example. In this study, we applied the suggested method to four kind of cooling air as an example, and preformed the worth evaluation and cost allocation on each cooling air. As a result, similarly to the precedent study, the more energy a customer saved, the more heating unit cost decreased, and the more energy a customer consumed, the more heating unit cost increased. From this analysis, we hope that the suggested methodology can offer a theoretical basis to the politic pursuit of government, and induce the spontaneous energy saving of consumers.

  • Our government will make a plan regulating the cooling limit temperature of the summer season to 26 degree and the heating limit temperature of the winter season to 20 degree for energy saving. Where, the key point of this politic pursuit can be the charge system on heating and cooling cost. Currently, the heating and cooling cost are charged as much as the volume or heat flow rate regardless of the high and low room temperature. However, we have suggested new cost estimating methodology as a worth method in the precedent study, and preformed the worth evaluation and cost allocation of electricity and heat on various cogenerations. In this study, we applied the suggested worth method to four kind of warm air, and preformed the worth evaluation and cost allocation of each warm air. As a result, the more energy a customer saved, the more heating unit cost decreased, and the more energy a customer consumed, the more heating unit cost increased. • This study quantified shading, evapotranspiration and windspeed-reduction effects of trees on use and cost of heating and cooling energy in two residential neighborhoods of Chuncheon different in tree cover. Annual savings per residence of heating energy were approximately 1,210 MJ(1%) and those of cooling energy, 130 kWh(10%) in study district 1 having tree cover of about 10% . For district 2 with tree cover of about 20%, annual heating and cooling savings were 2,130 MJ(2%) and 180 kWh(19%) per residence, respectively. Trees annually saved energy costs by approximately ₩31,000 ($26, $1=₩1,200) per residence in district 1 and by ₩49,000($41) in district 2. One tree taller than 3 m resulted in annual energy savings of ₩8,000($7) in the study districts. Energy savings by trees in district 2, which had higher tree cover by 10% difference than district 1, were about 2 times greater than those in district 1. This implies that more tree plantings could enhance energy saving effects. Of the total costs saved, 58% was attributed to windspeed reduction and 47%, evapotranspiration. However, shading increased energy costs by 5% due to tree plantings at the wrong locations. Full tree plantings on the west and north of buildings and avoidance of shade-tree plantings of use of solar-friendly trees on the south are recommended to increase building energy savings efficiently.

  • Among various types of geothermal heat pump systems, Vertical Closed-Loop Geothermal Heat Pump (VGSHP) has received increasing attention due to a variety of advantages such as the potential to be installed in a relatively small space and improved energy efficiency. In this research, the performance of VGSHP system coupled with heat storage tank was evaluated, by analyzing operational behavior of heat storage tank, the variations of heat pump energy performance due to the connection with heat storage tank, part load ratios characteristics of heat pump and the corresponding energy cost, compared to chiller and boiler based conventional system. The results of this study showed that the VGSHP system coupled with heat storage tank showed an energy saving effect of about 18% for cooling and about 73% for heating, and annual heating/cooling energy cost reduction of 43,000,000 KRW ($ 39,000), compared to the conventional air conditioning system. In addition, after considering both energy cost and initial investment cost including equipment, installation and auxiliary device expenses, payback period of approximately 11.8 years was required.

  • Recently, the design problem of heat insulation have been reappraised in the aspect of energy saving due to the rising trend of energy cost. For example, that design problem is increasingly requsted in the fields of accommodation air conditioning systems, hot water supply systems, cargo handling systems, district heating or cooling systems. The rational design of heat insulation of piping systems can not only improve the overall efficiency of energy transfer but also give energy saving. In this paper, the heat insulation problem of district heating systems is therefore modeled as the multi-stage decision processes, suitable for dynamic programming technique. And take the object function as the sum of heat insulation material cost involved construction cost and heat loss cost, and propose the design method to minimize the object function for overall piping systems by dynamic programing. Effectiveness of design method presented here is proved by a computer simulation.

  • This study aims to investigate the energy performance of apartment in respect of complex design, building type and generation house layout and finally to produce the guide line for energy saving design. To grasp the present condition and problem about this subject, apartment building types were examined and representative types were extracted. Considering azimuth angle, private area, and generation number, building type of the subject apartment was classified in detail, energy simulation was conducted, and the effect to energy cost was compared. In the research, using VE energy simulation program, the heating and cooling load were calculated and converted to energy cost. It is expected that this analysed results will be basic data for the more integrated study. Research consequence can be summarized as follow: 1) Energy cost is compared according to several azimuth in plank '一' type apartment. As the results, calculated gas cost is the best in $49^{\circ}$, but total cost is in $-31^{\circ}$. 2) Apartment buildings of tower types are compared, it is resulted that 'Y' type (azimuth $-7^{\circ}$, $-20^{\circ}$) is the best in gas cost, but the total cost is worst because of high cooling load.

  • The objective of the work was to evaluate the impact of lighting energy to cooling and heating consumption in medium scale office building, when currently installed fluorescent lights were replaced with various LED lighting fixtures. This evaluation comes from an integrated approach combining the proper indoor lighting environment and the thermal aspects of cooling & heating consumption in office building. These simulations were performed by coupling an appropriate luminaire analysis for energy consumption and a dynamic thermal simulation software (TRNSYS). To analyze comparative study of effects on the heating, cooling loads, and energy consumption of an LED lamp application, 2 types of LED lamp with low light power watt(LPW) 24W and high LPW 7.5W and a fluorescent lights(FL) with 37W are used respectively. Integrated building energy consumption decreased up to 3.2% when fluorescent lamps were replaced with LEDs. Thus, the high LPW of LED(7.5W) replaced with the same number of FL shows an effective energy saving and cost- effective luminary.
