  • This paper considers the problem of determining a set of PI, PD and PID controller gains, for a given linear time invariant plant, that meets or exceeds the closed loop step response specifications. The proposed method utilizes two recent results: for a given system, (1) finding a set of stabilizing PI, PD and PID gains and (2) the relationship between time response (overshoot and speed) and the coefficients of the characteristic polynomial. The method allows us to extract a subset of PI, PD and PID gains that meets stability as well as time domain performance requirements. The intersections of two dimensional sets described by linear and quadratic inequalities in the controller design space are need to be Identified through numerical computation. The procedure is illustrated by examples.

  • This paper examines the problem of designing an $H_{\infty}$ fuzzy state-feedback controller for a class of uncertain nonlinear descriptor systems which is described by a Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model. Based on a linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, we develop an $H_{\infty}$ state-feedback controller which guarantees the $L_2$-gain of the mapping from the exogenous input noise to the regulated output to be less than some prescribed value for this class of systems. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the design developed in this paper.

  • A delay dependent fuzzy $H_{\infty}$ controller design method for delayed nonlinear systems with parameter uncertainty is considered. Using delay-dependent Lyapunov function the asymptotical stability and $H_{\infty}$n performance problem :are discussed. A sufficient condition for the existence of fuzzy controller is presented in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs). A simulation example through radar gimbal system is given to illustrate the design procedures and performances of the prosed methods.

  • In this paper, we introduce an industrial three degree of freedom manipulator which loads/unloads various freight on an AGV(automated Guided Vehicle). We design and implement the industrial controller for the manipulator with P-I) gain variation method. Since this battery-powered manipulator is opten driven in an instufficient power condition, the gravity effects on the robot joints can be a significant problem. The objectives of this paper are twofold : the presentation of a PI)-controller which can compensate the gravity effects, and the design and implementation of an industrial three degree of freedom manipulator for loading/unloading.

  • This paper deals with a robust $H_{\infty}$ sampled-data controller design problem for nonlinear systems in Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy form with singular perturbation. The employed controller takes a state-feedback form. The design condition is represented in terms of linear matrix inequalities. A numerical examples is included to show the effectiveness of the theoretical development.

  • The stabilizing controller design problem of time-delay singularly perturbed systems is considered. The proposed approach is based on the $H_{\infty}$ norm and the composite control method. A sufficient condition for the stability of the time-delay slow subsystem is presented. Using this condition, we can construct the composite control law for the time-delay singularly perturbed system and analysis the system by the matrix Lambert W function. Illustrated examples are presented to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the proposed method.

  • Peak response is a more suitable index than mean response in the light of structural safety. In this study, a controller optimization method is proposed to restrict peak responses of building structures subject to earthquake excitations, which are modeled as partially stationary stochastic process. The constraints are given with specified failure probabilities of peak responses. LQR is chosen to assure stability in numerical process of optimization. Optimization problem is formulated with weightings on controlled outputs as design variables and gradients of objective and constraint functions are derived. Full state feedback controllers designed by the proposed method satisfy various design objectives and output feedback controllers using LQG also yield similar results without significant performance deterioration.

  • The new robust controller design method is proposed for the flight control systems with model uncertainties. The proposed control system is a combination of the adaptive dynamic surface control (DSC) technique and the self recurrent wavelet neural network (SRWNN). The adaptive DSC technique provides us with the ability to overcome the "explosion of complexity" problem of the backstepping controller. The SRWNNs are used to observe the arbitrary model uncertainties of flight systems and all their weights are trained on-line. From the Lyapunov stability analysis, their adaptation laws are induced and the uniformly ultimately boundedness of all signals in a closed-loop adaptive system is proved. Finally, simulation results for a high performance aircraft (F-16) are utilized to validate the good tracking performance and robustness of the proposed control system.

  • In this paper, a new design method of variable structure model following control system(VSMFCS) for robot manipulators is proposed. The proposed controller overcomed reaching phase problem by using function augmenting scheme to the sliding surface. Therefore, it can be guaranteed that the overall system always has a robust property against parameter variations and external disturbances. Furthermore, the proposed controller does not use the model state, .chi.$_{m}$, different from other previous works. Regardless of not using the model state, the model following error dynamics, virtual dynamics, is shown to be globally exponentially stable. The efficiency of the proposed method has been demonstrated by an example.e.

  • We propose a design method that uses H$_{\infty}$ optimization method to suppress oscillation of a shaft between motor and load for high precision (0.001 % of reference input) position controls. PI speed control loop was introduced as a minor loop. Standard problem is used for the modeling of the system and Glover-Doyle's algorithm is used for the optimization in the H$_{\infty}$ space. Friction is considered to be an important factor that makes it difficult for the system to reach steady state in short time. In this paper, we propose a hybrid controller that includes PI speed feedback loop, which is expected to have a role to reject torque disturbance like friction.n.n.
