Niobium microalloying is effective in hot-rolled and cold-rolled steels by providing a fine-grained microstructure resulting in increased strength. To optimize the strengthening effect, alloy design and hot-rolling conditions have to be adapted. As a key issue the dissolution and precipitation characteristics of Nb are discussed in particular with regard to the run-out table conditions. It is then considered how the hot-rolled microstructure and the solute state of Nb interact with the hot-dip galvanizing cycle. The adjusted conditions allow controlling the morphology and distribution of phases in the cold-rolled annealed material. Additional precipitation hardening can be achieved as well. The derived options can be readily applied to produce conventional HSLA and IF high strength steels as well as to modern multiphase steels. It will be explained how important application properties such as strength, elongation, bendability, weldability and delayed cracking resistance can be influenced in a controlled and favorable way. Examples of practical relevance and experience are given.

The performance of radar Quantitative Precipitation Estimation (QPE) using Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks in hydrological applications depends on either the quality of data or the three-dimensional CAPPI structure from the weather radar. While radar data quality is controlled and enhanced by the more and more modern radar systems, the effect of CAPPI structure still has not yet fully investigated. In this study, three typical and important types of CAPPI structure including inverse-pyramid, cubic of grids 3x3, cubic of grids 4x4 are investigated to evaluate the effect of CAPPI structures on the performance of radar QPE using LSTM networks. The investigation results figure out that the cubic of grids 4x4 of CAPPI structure shows the best performance in rainfall estimation using the LSTM networks approach. This study give us the precious experiences in radar QPE works applying LSTM networks approach in particular and deep-learning approach in general.
Adsorption and precipitation of cadmium (Cd) could be dependent on rate of P addition and Cd level in soil. Therefore, the objective of this study was to examine how addition rate of P affect mechanisms of Cd immobilization such as adsorption and precipitation in different levels of Cd in soil. Arable soils were spiked with inorganic Cd ($CdCl_2$) to give a total Cd concentration of 10, 100, and $1,000mg\;Cd\;kg^{-1}$. Monopotassium phosphate ($KH_2PO_4$, MPP) was selected as phosphate material and mixed with the pretreated arable soil at the rates of 0, 800, 1,600 and $3,200mg\;P\;kg^{-1}$. The mixture soils were incubated at $25^{\circ}C$ for 8 weeks in dark condition. Soil pH decreased with increasing MPP addition rate in all levels of Cd but negative charge of soil increased, thereby reducing 1 M $NH_4OAc$ extractable Cd. Soil solutions were undersaturated with respect to $CdCO_3$ and $Cd_3(PO_4)_2$ with all P addition rate in soil with low Cd level (${\leq}100mg\;Cd\;kg^{-1}$) but supersaturated in soil with high Cd level ($1,000mg\;Cd\;kg^{-1}$). From the above results, Cd solubility was controlled by precipitation of Cd minerals such as $CdCO_3$ and $Cd_3(PO_4)_2$ in soil with high Cd level but by Cd adsorption induced by increase in negative charge of soil with low level of Cd.

To evaluate the main hydrogeochemical characteristics, river waters are investigated using element리 and isotopic compositions in South Korea. In this area, the chemical compositions are mostly classified into three groups; $Ca^{2+}-{HCO_3}^-$ type, $Ca^{2+}-Cl^{-}-{NO_3}^-$ type and $Ca^{2+}-{HCO_3}^{-}-Cl^{-}-{NO_3}^-$ type. These types are affected by two major factors: water-rock interaction and anthropogenic inputs such as sewage and fertilizers. Based on the values of ${\delta}^{18}O$ and ${\delta}D$, most of waters are originated from precipitation except two samples contaminated. The lithology and geography of basins mainly control the water chemistry. Elemental and isotopic compositions show that water chemistry are mainly controlled by three end members, especially by carbonate dissolution, and suggest that anthropogenic input affect the water chemistry. Also, three weathering sources are identified: silicates, dolomite and limestone.
Monodisperse ZnS colloidal particles with precisely specified diameters over a broad size range were synthesized by controlled aggregation. Sub-10nm ZnS seed crystals were first nucleated at ambient temperature and then grown at an elevated temperature, which produced large polydisperse colloidal particles. Subsequent rapid thermal quenching and heating processes induced a number of secondary nucleations in addition to growing the large polydisperse microparticles which were finally removed by centrifugation and discarded at the completion of the reaction. The secondary nuclei were then aggregated further at elevated temperatures, resulting in colloidal particles which exhibited a nearly monodisperse size distribution. Particle diameters were controlled over a wide size range from 50 nm to 1 μm. Mie simulations of the experiment extinction spectra determined that the volume fraction of the ZnS is 0.66 in an aggregated colloidal particle and the colloidal particle effective refractive index is approximately 2.0 at 590 nm in water. The surface of the colloidal particles was subsequently coated with silica to produce ZnS@silica core-shell particles.

This study was carried out to investigate the constituents of inorganic ions of precipitation in Mokpo and Yeochon area from Jan. 1996 to Dec. 1997. The volume-weighted mean pH of precipitation was 5.7(4.8~7.8) at Mokpo, and 5.6(5.1~7.4) at Yeochon area, respectively. The non-seasalt(nss) anion concentrations were found in order of $nss-SO^{2-}_4>NO^-_3>nss-Cl^-$ at two areas. The portion of $nss-SO^{2-}_4;and;NO^-_3$ was 71~84% out of anions. The the non-seasalt cation concentrations were found in order of $NH^+_4>nss-Ca^{2-}>nss-Mg^{2+}>nss-K^-$ at two areas. The portion of $NH^+_4;and; nss-Ca^{2+}$ was 85~92% out cations. Compared regionally the year concentraton of $nss-SO^{2-}_4$, the result of Yeochon was 3 times higher than that of Mokpo in 1996, while the results of two regions were almost similar in 1997. The reason was that Yeochon was restricted area of the use of 0.5% sulfur B-C oil, controlled air pollution emission area, controlled semitotal amounts of air pollution emission area and partial operating of factories in 1997. There were no ions having high correlation with $H^+,;but;nss-SO^{2-}_4,;NO^-_3,;NH^+_4;and;nss-Ca^{2+}$ showed high correlation coefficient each other. It seems that these ions have little correlation with $H^+$ because they are washed out on binding state. Factor analysis showed that the first factor was complicated factor containing anthropogenic and soil resource, the second factor was sea-salt resource and the third factor was independent behavior of hydrogen at Mokpo. While, the first factor was complicated factor containing anthropogenic and sea-salt resource, the second factor was $Ca(NO_3)_2$ salt and the third factor was $NH^+_4;and;SO^{2-}_4$ synergied by resource and combination at Yeochon.
The characteristics of $Co^{2+}$ removal in the kaolinite column were analyzed by electrokinetic remediation. Ethanoic buffer was injected in the kaolinite column and $CH_3$COOH was continuously added to the cathode reservoir to restrain the pH increase. The pH of the cathode of the kaolinite column was 4.0 at first. Since it was controlled to be under 6.5 after 43.6 hours due to ethanoic buffer, precipitation of ${Co(OH)}_2$ was not formed in the column. Effluent rate increased with time and $Co^{2+}$ removal in the column at initial time was mainly controlled by ion migration. 13.1% of total $Co^{2+}$ in the column was removed after 10 hours, the 46.8% of total $Co^{2+}$ after 20.8 hours, and the 71.7% of total $Co^{2+}$ after 30.1 hours, the 94.6% of total $Co^{2+}$ after 43.6 hours, Meanwhile, the residual concentrations in the column calculated by the developed model were similar to experiment results.
Size controlled, $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2$ cathode powders were prepared by co-precipitation method followed by heat treatment at temperatures between 750 and $850^{\circ}C$. The synthesized samples are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrochemical performance. The synthesized $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2$ after calcined at $750^{\circ}C$ has a good electrochemical performance with an initial discharge capacity of $190mAhg^{-1}$ and good capacity retention of 100% after 30 cycles at 0.1C ($17mAg^{-1}$). The capacity retention of $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2$ after calcined at $750^{\circ}C$ is better than that at 800 and $850^{\circ}C$ without capacity loss at various high C rates. This is ascribed to the minimized cation disorder, a higher conductivity, and higher lithium ion diffusion coefficient ($D_{Li}$) observed in this material. In the differential scanning calorimetry DSC profile of the charged sample, the generation of heat by exothermic reaction was decreased by calcined at high temperature, and this decrease is especially at $850^{\circ}C$. This behavior implies that the high temperature calcinations of $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2$ prevent phase transitions with the release of oxygen.

This study investigated synthesis gas production via steam reforming of biogas. Ni-Al2O3 and Ni-CeO2 catalysts were synthesized using the co-precipitation method, with controlled precipitation agent injection rates. Catalytic performances were tested at various temperatures, with a gas composition ratio of CH4:CO2:H2O = 1:0.67:3 and a gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) of 647,000 mL h-1 gcat-1. The rate of precipitation agent injection influenced the characteristics of the catalysts depending on the type of support used. As the temperature increased, both the CO2 reforming of methane and the reverse water gas shift reactions occurred. The Ni-Al2O3 catalyst, synthesized with a single injection of the precipitation agent, exhibited the best catalytic activity under conditions with sufficient steam supply among the prepared catalysts, due to its high Ni dispersion.
