Investigation on Vibration Control of Squeeze Mode ER Mount Subjected to 200 kg of Static Load (200 kg급 압착모드형 ER 마운트의 진동제어성능 고찰)

  • This paper presents vibration control performance of a squeeze mode ER mount for high static load. After experimentally investigating the field-dependent damping force under the squeeze mode motion, a squeeze mode ER mount which can support 200 kg of static load is designed and manufactured. Displacement transmissibility of the proposed ER mount is experimentally evaluated in frequency domain with respect to the intensity of the electric field, and a sky-hook control algorithm is designed to attenuate unwanted vibration. Vibration isolation capabilities of the flow mode ER mount and rubber mount are compared to those of the proposed squeeze mode ER mount.

  • Direct velocity feedback (DVFB) control with a collocated distributed actuator and point sensor pair is known that it offers a good stability with high performance when the control strategy is applied at the suppression of structural vibration. Also decentralized control method introduced to offer to reduce implementaion effort and malfunction due to failure in sensors and actuators of control system has become an important position in DVFB. In this paper, the decentralized control is compared with centralized control in terms of vibrational velocity reduction in a clamped-clamped beam.

  • In this study, vibration control of the enclosed plate which is typical two dimensional structure are performed by using intelligent control method and piezo ceramic as an actuator attached at the plate. The characteristics of the plate with piezo ceramic are examined to identify the natural frequencies. Then, the plate is controlled under the sinusoidal excitation by acoustic source and the reduction level of vibration is examined via frequency response and time sequence. The control result shows the effect of the intelligent control method as a control scheme compared with that of the previous filtered-X LMS algorithm.

  • This paper is concerned with the active vibration control of shell structure that is subjected to internal unbalanced excitation by using active mounts and accelerometers. The unbalanced excitation is caused by a rotating unbalanced mass. The control algorithm considered in this study is the negative acceleration feedback (NAF) control. A simplified dynamic model was derived to verify the effectiveness of the NAF control. Four actuators and four accelerometers were mounted on the shell structure, so that the multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) NAF controller was designed by both centralized and decentralized ways. Numerical results show that both the decentralized and centralized NAF controllers are effective. Based on the numerical simulation, the proposed decentralized NAF controller was applied to the real shell structure. Experimental results show that the proposed decentralized NAF controller can effectively suppress vibrations of the shell structure.

  • Excessive stay cable vibrations can cause severe problems for cable-stayed bridges. In this paper a semiactive Magnetorheological (MR) damper is investigated to reduce cable vibrations. The control-oriented cable-damper model is first established; a computer simulation for the cable-damper system is carried out; and finally a MR damper is experimentally used to reduce the cable vibration in a laboratory environment using a semiactive control algorithm. Both the simulation and experimental results show that the semiactive MR damper achieves better control results than the corresponding passive damper.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of local vibration on quadriceps femoris on vertical jump Method : The subjects(40) were divided into man control group(10) woman control group(10) and man vibration group(10), woman vibration group(10). Vibration group was given vibration on quadriceps femoris for 15 minutes and control group was given resting for 15 minutes. All subjects of each group were tested on vertical jump then pre and post test. Results : 1. Man control group and woman control group vertical jump didn't have statistically difference pre and post test(p>0.05). 2. In the woman vibration group vertical jump didn't have significant difference pre and post test(p>0.05), but had significant difference in the man vibration group(p<0.05) Conclusion : Vibration on quadriceps femoris have an effect on vertical jump. Therefore, the vibration will be effective in treatment of muscle strength.

  • This paper investigates the control performance of the proposed hybrid mount system for vibration isolation table. The hybrid mount system consists of an air spring as a passive device and a PZT stack actuator as an active device in series. The feasibility of the PZT stack actuator as an active actuator was examined through the simple experiments. After that, a series of numerical simulations were carried out to evaluate the control performance of the proposed hybrid mount system. The equations of motion of the table with a set of hybrid mount systems consisting of four devices are derived. The air spring is considered as a 1 spring and 1 dashpot elements, and PID control algorithm is adopted to estimate the control force. The results of the numerical simulations presents that the proposed hybrid mount system could be the promising control system for vibration isolation table.

  • Vibration control of a plate using an optical fiber sensor and a piezoelectric actuator is considered in the present study, An aluminum plate with attached Extrinsic Fabry-Perot Interferometer (EFPI) and piezoelectric actuator is prepared for experimental investigation. Vibration level of EFPI that can represent the mechanical strain without severe distortion Is validated by forced nitration experiment. A linear time invariant system model is constructed based on the experimentally obtained frequency responses, and an optimal controller is designed for the multi-modal vibration suppression. Control performance is presented in frequency and time domains. It is found that the nitration level of the first three modes can be greatly reduced. The effect of low-pass filtering used to eliminate high frequency noise on the stability and control performance is also considered.

  • This paper is concerned with the development of linear magnetic actuator for active vibration control. The newly developed linear magnetic actuator consists of permanent magnets and copper coils. On the contrary to the voice-coil type actuator, the linear magnetic actuator utilizes magnetic flux to generate the shaft movement. In this study, experiments on the prototype linear magnetic actuator were carried out to investigate its dynamic characteristics. Block and inertia forces generated by the actuator were measured. The experimental results show that the actuator can be used as both actuator and active tuned-mass damper. The linear magnetic actuator was attached to a cantilever as the active-tuned mass damper and active vibration control experiment was carried out. The experimental results show that the newly developed linear magnetic actuator can be effectively used for the active vibration control of structures.
