  • In this study, underdeveloping heavy-load driving servo control system, which are composed of controller, electro-hydraulic servo-valve, hydraulic motor, reduction gear box, turret slew bearing and turret structure, are investigated to simplify the control system. To estimate the effect of each component, modeling and simulation of linear and nonlinear system are carried out. In the first stage, to prove the reliability of performance estimation program, simulation results are compared with experimental results. In the second stage, the effect of each component of control system is evaluated and then a simplified control system is suggested.

  • This study carries out the performance improvement and simplification of hydraulic modulator that plays an important role in vehicle stability control systems. The mathematical models for each component of a modulator, such as pump, wheel cylinder, check and solenoid valve, accumulator, damper are derived in detail. All the mathematical models are combined to form a modulator system and implemented through a computer program, which can be controlled by a user friendly GUI. To verity the simulation, comparison between simulation and experiments has been made. After the verification of the validity of the simulation, the effects of the design parameters of the modulator on the wheel cylinder pressure is investigated. The results show that the modulator without MPA has advantage in early time pressure rise rate, and it can be simplified.

  • One of the important features of the advanced nuclear power plants is the system simplification. In this work, a model has been introduced to quantitatively evaluate the system simplification. A few models have been developed for quantitative evaluation of design simplification and the design enhancements of CVCS of the advanced reactors have been evaluated with models based on the entropy concept and the system availability. In addition, operational interface of CVCS with peripheral systems has been considered to develop a new evaluation model in this work. The quantification results for the design of the System 80+ and KSNPP indicate that the simplicity of the CVCS is primarily dependent on the type and number of charging pumps.

  • ASM No. 1 is a very useful model to analyze wastewater treatment system removing organic carbon and nitrogen material. But it isn't adequate to control the wastewater treatment system with real time since it has many material divisions and parameters. So, the purpose of this study is the simplification of ASM No. 1 to control the wastewater treatment system. ASM No. 1 was changed with the model which has 3 material divisions(COD, $NH_4{^+}$, $NO_3{^-}$) and two phases(Aerobic and Anoxic condition). SBR was running with two phases(Phase I and II). Phase II running 20 minutes with aerobic time was used for deciding model parameters and Phase I running 12 minutes with aerobic time was used for proving the simplified model. The simplified model was compared with ASM No. 1 using data of Phase I and II. As a result of model comparison, the simplified model has enough ability to express the variation of $NH_4{^+}$ compound.

  • The model simplification method of the linear time invariant continuous system is proposed. Using the energy dispersion method the dynamic modes with dominent energy contribution are selected, and the poles of the denomenater are retained. And there is investigated how the dynamic modes affected the system characteristic. The parameters of the numerator are determined by time moment matching method. This method is that the algorithm is simple and also the simplified model found is always stable if the original system is stable, and through examples we assured that this method leads to good results in both transient and steady state responses.

  • An LMI based method to construct a decentralized control law for large scale systems is discussed. It is extended to assure the stability not only of the overall system but also of each subsystem without interconnection. Then, it is simplified to have local feedback loops only for some selected subsystems.

  • AGV is most often used for the automation of freight transportation in the manufacturing industry or the distribution warehouses. AGV is fairly costly and used in goods transport between the determined location. The main control device dedicated to AGV is often autonomously developed for simplification using PLC in industry field. However, AGV developed for simplification makes many errors in traffic because it is developed for the limited simple function. Control device dedicated to AGV has been developed to solve the problem but it is almost impossible to revise the device according to the character and structure of every manufacturing industry. The purpose of this study is to propose the design method of the control system interlocked with PLC and dedicated to AGV. The control system should be to improve the problem of traffic rolling and possible to be revised according to the character of factory. It is apparent the proposed AGV system is efficient in operation in the result of several traffic performance analysis through the tests.

  • A new method for the electrostatic suspension of disk-shaped objects is proposed which is based on a switched-voltage control scheme. It operates according to a relay feedback control and deploys only a single high-voltage power supply capable of delivering a dc voltage of positive and/or negative polarity. In addition to the unique feature that no high-voltage amplifiers are needed, this method provides a remarkable system simplification relative to conventional methods. It is shown that despite the inherent limit cycle property of relay feedback based control, an excellent performance in vibration suppression is attained due to the presence of a relatively large squeeze film damping. In this paper, the functional principle of the switched voltage control scheme, numerical analysis, stator electrode design, and a nonlinear dynamic model of the suspension system are described. Experimental results will be presented for a 4-inch silicon wafer that clearly reveal the capability of the proposed control structure to suspend the wafer stably at an airgap length of 50 .mu.m.

  • A dynamic modeling procedure for developing a control model of the driving system of a heavy industrial vehicle is presented. The dynamic model is derived by applying generalized Lagrangian equations to each component of the system and imposing kinematic relations between components as constraints. In order to obtain the control model, a few assumptions are made for the simplification of the nonlinear and complicated model, which is justified by the comparison of the simulation results of the original full nonlinear model and the simplified control model.
