This case study is based on in-depth interviews in the consulting industry recognized as a knowledge-integrated industry. The purpose of this research is to examine how firms evaluate and reward organization members' knowledge contribution, to define how fim1s utilize IT for the knowledge management, and to show how the performance appraisal and reward system influence organizational knowledge contribution effectiveness. Besides, other determinants for knowledge contribution effectiveness are defined. It is recognized that knowledge contribution effectiveness is positively related to non-monetary rewards and informal appraisals. As for the future study, we recommend the empirical research based on several propositions developed in this study.

Especially, the share of GDP at biomedical is 0.12% in 1995 1$^{st}$ quarter, but 0.17% in 2002 3$^{rd}$ quarter, 0.24% in 2008. Biomedical's contribution about GDP growth is to jump into 6.01% in 2008. The share of GDP at drug will continuously expand, compared to other manufacture industries. Also, drug's contribution about GDP growth will increase, compared with before. Conclusionally, total shares of GDP at drug St biomedical industry are to increase, compared with before. Also, this health industry's contribution is to expand as value-added industry and increase of sales.

  • In recent years, the knowledge service industry is getting much attention in terms of the role as new growth driver and employment creation sector whereas the overall potential growth rate in Korea has been slowed due to reduced investment and employment in manufacturing sector. This study examines how the knowledge service industry contributes to economic development and employment creation by analyzing the structure transition pattern of the knowledge service industry from 1995 to 2010 and suggests, based on these results, some policy implications for the industry's development. It turns out that the knowledge service industry greatly contributes to total production increase and employment creation during the period of 1995 to 2010. Special strategy for increase in labor productivity will be required for the knowledge service industry to contribute consistently as growth driver and employment creation sector since production increase rate and growth contribution level have been gradually decreased while employment growth rate and its contribution level have been consistently increased in the knowledge service industry.

  • As implied by the terms of IT productivity Paradox, measuring the Information technology contribution to economic performance has been one of the challenging issues to both policy makers and business professionals. As such, diverse attempts with sophisticate analyses have been reported in the literature to analyze the effect of IT contributions. In this paper, we follow Growth Accounting Method to measure the IT contribution effect to manufacturing firm's economic performance in Korea. Various regression methods and statistical analyses are applied with fourteen years of industry Panel data. Using the Cobb-Douglas function, time lag analysis is made to understand IT effect to economic growth. Instead of capturing data from individual firm, industry level data from the National Statistics Bureau is used for IT capital, non-IT capital, and so on. Statistical analysis following the panel unit test and Panel co-integration test was performed to reveal the exact effect of IT contribution to economic performance. Empirical testing results for non-stationary nature of IT investment effect are reported as well as IT contribution to manufacturing industry's economic performance.

  • The aim of this study was to analyze the contribution of carcass traits (backfat thickness, eye muscle area, carcass weight and marbling score) and the season at slaughter to the price (auction and market) using squared semi-partial correlation. The season at slaughter (summer expressed as season_2, autumn as season_3, and winter as season_4) were added into the estimation as dummy variables, and spring was set as a default variable. In this study, the carcass grades of 22,298 Hanwoo steers slaughtered from 2012 to 2017 were used to performmultiple regression analysis. The rankings of the contribution of the carcass traits and the seasons at slaughter to the auction prices were in the order of marbling score (68.63%), season_4 (11.88%), backfat thickness (10.45%), eye muscle area (6.11%), season_3 (2.19%), season_2 (0.45%) and carcass weight (0.28%). (R-square of the regression = 0.4101). The rankings of the contribution to the total prices were in the order of carcass weight (51.74%), marbling score (32.12%), season_4 (6.04%), backfat thickness (5.54%), eye muscle area (3.22%), season_3 (1.14%), and season_2 (0.19%). (R-Square of the regression = 0.6486). As a result, season_3 and season_4 had a negative effect on the auction price and total price. Because of seasonal event such as Korean Thanksgiving Day and Korean New Year's Day on season_3 and season_4, much supply was needed to meet the high demand. Thus, the seasonal effect at slaughter could be another factor to be cosideredin when considering of slaughter or breeding.

  • The aim of this study was to analyze the contribution factors (backfat thickness, eye muscle area, carcass weight, marbling score, and feeding period) affecting meat unit price (South-Korean Won / Kg of meat). The best slaughtering age to maximize unit price was also assumed. All data used in this study were acquired from the Korea Institute for Animal Products Quality Evaluation from 2010 to 2014. Contributions to the estimated unit price of cows by the following factors, backfat thickness, eye muscle area, carcass weights, feeding period, and marbling score were 2.65%, 0.04%, 1.58%, 1.58%, and 95.72%, respectively. Contribution to estimated unit price of steers by the same factors (backfat thickness, eye muscle area, carcass weights, feeding period, and marbling score) were 7.88%, 1.24%, 0.07%, 90.81%, and 95.72%, respectively. Slaughtering ages ranged from 26 to 36 months and the data were separated into each month for an 11 month period. The unit price of meat from Hanwoo slaughtered at 30 months was highest among groups. The lowest unit price was observed in the group belonging to the Hanwoo slaughtered at 36 months. In conclusion, of all contributing factors, marbling score affected unit price the most. Based on our results, it is recommended that the optimal slaughtering age be set at 30 months to maximize unit price. Moreover, the feeding of beef cattle past 30 months of age is not recommended because of the increase in feeding costs.

  • PURPOSES : This study is to suggest the Influence of road capital to industry and productivity growth in South Korea. METHODS : Based on the literature review, The relevant policy questions addressed in this report are : cost reduction and Scale elasticities of road, effect of road capital stock on demand for labor, capital and materials, marginal effect of road, industry TFP growth decomposition. RESULTS : The marginal benefits of the road capital at the industry level were calculated using the estimated cost elasticities. Demand for the road capital services varies across industries as do the marginal effects. The marginal benefits are positive for the principal industries. This suggests that for these industries the existing stock of road capital may be under supplied. The contribution of road capital to TFP growth is positive in principal industries. The main contribution of road capital is in the manufacturing industries ; the magnitudes of contribution varies among industries. These results indicate that growth in exogenous demand is most important contributor to TFP growth. CONCLUSIONS : The road capital have a significant effect on employment, private capital and demand for materials inputs in all industries. At a given level of output, an increase in road capital lead to variety to demand for all inputs in all industries.
