A existing design method of PSC girder bridges, according to total service loads, stress required tendon force at a time. Because this design method increases beam depth, design of long span is difficult. However, As UC girder stressing at difficult loading stages reduces sectional depth of PSC girder, both design and operation of long span bridges is possible. so, this study analyzes the effect of design parameter (Girder Strength, Girder Spacing, Span Length, Joint Strength) on the beam depth of IPC girder continuous bridges, and shows sectional depth of UC girder for design of long span bridges. According to analysis, when a continuous bridges of same length span is at strength of joint over strength of girder of 600kg/$cm^{2}$, a change of beam depth is observed and when a continuous bridges of different span length is at strength of joint below strength of girder of 600kg/$cm^{2}$, a change of beam depth is observed. In two case, a change of beam depth is mostly observed over strength of girder of 350kg/$cm^{2}$ according to analysis of deflection data, a continuous bridges of IPC girder is nearly satisfied.

The SCP girder, which compensates for the shortcomings of conventional girders through the effective composition of concrete, steel, and PS tendon, has recently been developed and applied on real bridges. Developed as a simple-support type, it may be applied on simple-support and continuous bridges by connecting the simple-support SCP girders to the interior supports. A continuous SCP girder, which has structural and cost advantages over the simple-support SCP girder, is proposed in this study. Likewise proposed herein is a new method of constructing a continuous SCP girder, using segments of the girder sequentially. A two-span, half-scale specimen was designed and constructed to verify the propriety of the continuous SCP girder bridge. A static load test was also carried out, using this specimen, to examine the behavior of the continuous SCP girder. Based on the results of the study, it is expected that the continuous bridge that uses the continuous SCP girder can guarantee the structural safety of the simple-support SCP girder.

The composite two plate-girder bridges are generally defined as a non-redundant load path structure because the bridge can collapse if one of the two girders is seriously damaged by a fatigue crack. In this paper, a numerical study on the evaluation of the after-fracture redundancy of the composite two-girder bridges was accomplished. The evaluation has been performed on the simple and three-span continuous bridges with I-section cross beams which serve as transverse bracing, and with or without the bottom lateral bracing system. The load carrying capacities of the intact and damaged bridges with or without lateral bracing were evaluated from material and geometric nonlinear analysis, respectively and the redundancy was evaluated for each case. It was acknowledged from the analytical results that both simple and continuous intact two-girder bridges have sufficient redundancy even without lateral bracing, but it takes an important role to improve the redundancy of damaged bridges.
Previous finite element studies have shown that AASHTO Standard load distribution factor (LDF) equations appear to be conservative for longer spans and larger girder spacing, but too permissible for short spans and girder spacing. AASHTO LRFD specification defines the distribution factor equation for girder spacing, span length, slab thickness, and longitudinal stiffness. However, this equation requires an iterative procedure to correctly determine the LDF value due to an initially unknown longitudinal stiffness parameter. This study presents a simplified LDF equation for interior and exterior girders of two-span continuous I-girder bridges that does not require an iterative design procedure. The finite element method was used to investigate the effect of girder spacing, span length, slab thickness, slab width, and spacing and size of bracing. The computer program, GTSTRUDL, was used to idealize the bridge superstructures as the eccentric beam model, the concrete slab by quadrilateral shell elements, steel girders by space frame members, and the composite action between these elements by rigid links. The distribution factors obtained from these analyses were compared with those from the AASHTO Standard and LRFD methods. It was observed through the parametric studies that girder spacing, span length, and slab thickness were the dominant parameters compared with others. The LRFD distribution factor for the interior girder was found to be conservative in most cases, whereas the factor for the exterior girder to be unconservative in longer spans. Furthermore, a regression analysis was performed to develop simplified LDF formulas. The formulas developed in this study produced LDF values that are always conservative to those from the finite element method and are generally smaller than the LDF values obtained from the AASHTO LRFD specification. The proposed simplified equation will assist bridge engineers in predicting the actual LDF in two-span continuous I-girder bridges.
This research has investigated structural characteristics of curved two girder bridges proposed for AGT system and analyzed the results of the structural analysis of three different modelings for 3 span continuous bridge, each modeled in grillage modeling, simplified 3D modeling, and detailed 3D modeling respectively. The grillage modeling appeared to be somewhat underestimated in deflection and overestimated in rotation with respect to 3D modelings. Also, it is impossible to make a detailed examination of local buckling and details of cross beams, etc. The point that warping effect cannot be considered may cause the structural analysis unsafe, accordingly the structural analysis of curved two girder bridges should be done with 3D modelings.

Segmentally erected prestressed concrete box girder bridges have been widely used in Korean high speed railway. Segmental erection has been accomplished along the longitudinal direction and across the depth of cross section. The cross section is similar to a composite cross section, composed of old and new segments. Because these segments have different time-dependent creep and shrinkage properties, a stress redistribution takes place during the construction period. It is the main objective in this research to investigate this behavior. An actual bridge was instrumented with 96 vibrating wire embedded type strain gauges, 6 electronic type steel strain gauges, and 75 thermocouples. Two span continuous high speed railway bridge was selected. Two points of importance, such as the midpoint of the first span and the point of interior support, along the span of the girder were chosen to monitor the time dependent behaviors for an extended period of time. The data collection was starting just after concrete girder were cast and is still going on. According to the measured results, the strain distributions across the depth of the section at midspan and interior support were not continuous and the important redistribution of stresses takes place. Thus, rational design of prestressed concrete composite box girder bridges need.

A construction method for continuous prestressed Composite Bridges(PCB's) is developed and successfully applied to the design of two-span continuous PCB's of five different span lengths. The construction of continuous PCB's goes through 17 different loading conditions. for each loading condition, the allowable stress design method is used to determine section properties. The analytical results of two-span continuous PCB's arc compared with those of simple PCB's. The comparison shows that the use of the proposed method can reduce 10-15 percents of the concrete section area and approximate 28 percents of the steel section area, as well as 5-8 percents of the girder height. The study indicates that the use of the proposed PCB's method can significantly reduce construction and maintenance costs of bridges.

A study has been performed to investigate the applicability of the high-strength steel to the medium-span composite girder bridges. A two- and four-girder simple and continuous bridges are considered. A proper span-to-depth ratio for the model bridges with SM490 and SM570 was evaluated by using the section optimization program, respectively. For the determined span-to-depth ratio, deflections and fatigue performance were also investigated. It was acknowledged that the high-strength steel reduces the weight of girder but the increase of deflection and fatigue stress should be considered especially in the positive moment area.

Cross sections of steel-plate girder bridges are divided into three cross sections of non-composite, partially composite, and fully composite sections, according to their composite characteristics. The Korean provision for the partially and fully composite sections specifies general usage of the stud of shear connectors, whereas the one for the non-composite section specifies empirical usage of slab anchors. However, the actual behavior of the cross sections of steel-plate girder bridges using slab anchors is close not to the non-composite action, but to the partially composite action. Therefore analytical and experimental studies on partial composites of steel-plate girder bridges using slab anchors are performed in this study. Intial stiffness of the slab anchor is obtained by the experimental study for the first time, and the composite characteristic of simple-span and two-span continuous steel-plate girder bridges is investigated by the finite element analyses for the second time. Based on the obtained initial stiffness, the reduction effect of tensile stresses in the concrete-slab on the intermediate support of the continuous bridge is also considered herein.

Two-plate girder bridge and narrow steel box girder bridge are suggested for the steel wheel AGT system. For these bridge system, rail-bridge interaction analysis was carried out and dynamic behavior of these bridges was investigated. The result shows that all the estimated parameters satisfy the criteria concerned. As a result these two suggested bridge systems have enough performance to be competitive for the LRT elevated structures.
