Recently, there are several problems in space, contiguity and facility of the existing harbors issued due to the trend of enlarging the container capacity of the large container vessel, the Mobile Harbor has been proposed conceptually as an effective solution for those problems. This concept is a kind of transfer loader of the containers from the large container ship, which is a floating barge with a catamaran type in the underwater part, and so prompt maneuverability and work effectiveness. For the safe mooring of two floating bodies, a container and the mobile harbor, in the near sea apart from the quay, a robot arm mooring facility specially devised would be designed and verified through comparison study under various environmental sea condition in the inner and outer harbor. DP system (Dynamic Positioning System) using the azimuth thruster and a pneumatic fender, etc, will be considered as a next research topic for the mooring security of multi-body floaters.
An impervious cover is one of most important factors which effect on a water body environment in a watershed. There are many researches on the impact of an impervious cover on water quality, quantity and ecosystem and most of these researches have been focused on an impervious rate or area in a watershed without considering structure features as like shape, edge, connection of impervious cover. In this study, we focused on a landscape structure which includes shape, density, contiguity, distance, aggregation of land cover type as well as area and rate. The calculation of a landscape indices made to analyse a landscape structure is conducted by applying Fragastats 3.3 program. Osan-cheon watershed where has rapidly urbanized is selected as a study field. Land information for 2002 and 2007 is from land classification maps provided by Ministry of Environment. The result shows that the increasing rate of an impervious cover is more conspicious in Kiheung dam watershed but the fragment of impervious cover areas is shown remarkably in the Osan sub-watershed. The trend of aggregation and connection of impervious covers is increasing. But it was very difficult to say that which type of landscape structure is more beneficial for a watershed management. The implication of this study is to find the need to come over the conventional ways to evaluate landscape structure of a watershed such as rates and areas of impervious cover, and define the importance of landscape feature as like connection, distance, edge density, fragment of impervious covers.

This study was conducted for an understanding of a threatened plant species,“Penthorum chinense”, which is a vegetation structure and environmental characteristic in the southern part of Ibaraki, Japan. We selected distribution and contiguity area where P. chinense is not distributed and we set up 69 sites by the quardrat method. The surveyed general characters in each site include mean-height, mean-coverage, moisture condition water depth coverage and depth of litter layer. We calculated the degree of succession by the survey data and grasped the main distribution area, vegetation structure, growth environment of P. chinense by TWINSPAN classification and DCA ordination. The results of this study are as follows. First, P. chinense habitat was categorized into the riverside and abandoned paddy fields. The riverside was influenced by natural disturbance caused by flooding and drought. These conditions led to a poor P. chinense growth. The abandoned paddy fields as the artificial disturbance area have high potential value, because the area can preserve P. chinense growth space by succession control and water management. second, we executed TWINSPAN analysis based on vegetation coverage data of survey sites. The vegetation types were classified into the three categories: annual plant flora(P. chinense dominates in wet state), perennial plant flora(Solidago altissima dominates in dry state), and perennial plant flora(Phragmites communis dominates in wet state). Third, the data was ordinated by DCA. The sample sequences along the first and second DCA axes effectively reflected moisture condition, number of species, mean height, coverage of litter layer and degree of succession. Especially, P. chinense flora has the high correlation with moisture condition and number of species.
Fiber-reinforced composite laminates have high specific stiffness and strength and are expected to be useful for weight reduction in weight-sensitive industries, such as automotive and aerospace. However, designing composite laminates is often dependent on designer's experience and intuition because of difficulties in determining the number of plies and stacking sequence, which tends to lead to over-design. In this study, optimal design of composite laminates was performed to minimize weight, while withstanding the given load. Based on the enumeration method, all combinations of stacking sequence satisfying the design guideline for composite laminates were considered. Composite laminates were discretized into panels. Optimal number of plies and stacking sequence for each panel were determined considering local load on each panel and contiguity across adjacent panels. Failure index from Tsai-Wu criteria was optimized for strength and buckling analysis was performed for compressive load. Stacking angles of 0, ±45 and 90° were used.

Ubiquitous applications require hybrid continuous query processing which processes both on-line data stream and spatial data in the disk. In the hybrid continuous spatial query processing, disk access costs for the high-volume spatial data should be minimized. However, previous indexing methods cannot reduce the disk seek time, because it is difficult that the data are stored in contiguity with others. Also, existing methods for the space-filling curve considering data cluster have the problem which does not cluster available data for queries. Therefore, we propose the region storage structure for efficient data access in hybrid continues spatial query processing. This paper shows that there is an obvious improvement of query processing costs through the contiguous data storing method and the group processing for user queries based on the region storage structure.

LEACH, one of hierarchical based routing protocols, was proposed for energy efficiency which is the most important requirement of Wireless Sensor Network(WSN). LEACH protocol is composed of a cluster of certain large number of clusters, which have a cluster head and member nodes. Member nodes send sensing data to their cluster heads, and the cluster heads aggregate the sensing data and transmit it to BS. The challenges of LEACH protocol are that cluster heads are not evenly distributed, and energy consumption to transmit aggregated data from Cluster heads directly to BS is excessive. This study, to improve LEACH protocol, suggests LECEEP that transmit data to contiguity cluster head that is the nearest and not far away BS forming chain between cluster head, and then the nearest cluster head from BS transmit aggregated data finally to BS. According to simulation, LECEEP consumes less energy and retains more number of survival node than LEACH protocol.

Conventional treatments of war diffusion focus extensively on dyadic relationships, whose impact is thought to be immutable over the course of the conf lict. This study indicates that such conceptions are at best incomplete, and more likely misleading to explain the spatial diffusion of wars. Using social network analysis, we examine war joining behavior during World War I. By employing social network analysis, we attempted to overcome the dichotomous understanding of geography as space and network in the discipline of conflict studies. Empirically, networked structural elements of state relationships (e.g., rivalry, alliances) have explanatory and predictive value that must be included alongside dyadic considerations in analyzing war joining behavior. In addition, our analysis demonstrates that the diffusion of conflict involves different driving forces over time.
Districting is a spatial decision making process to make a new regional framework for affecting human activities. Natural barriers such as rivers and mountains located within a reorganized district may reduce the efficiency of reorganized human activities. This implies that it is necessary to consider boundary characteristics in a districting process. The purpose of this research is to develop a new spatial optimization model based on boundary characteristics for districting problems. The boundary characteristics are evaluated as continuous value expressing the possibility of combining adjacent two basic spatial units rather than a dichotomous value with 1 or 0 and are defined as an objective function in the model. In addition, the model has explicitly formulated contiguity constraints as well as constraints enforcing demand balance among districts such as population and area. The boundary attributes are categorized into physical and relational characteristics. Suitability analysis is used to combine various variables related to each boundary characteristic and to evaluate the coupling possibility between two neighboring basic units. The model is applied to an administrative redistricting problem. The analytical results demonstrate that various boundary characteristics could be modeled in terms of mixed integer programming (MIP).

The purpose of this study is to develop an optimization model for reconstructing local administrative districts using spatial analysis and modeling. For this, literature related to reorganization of local administrative systems was critically reviewed and criteria for redistricting were extracted. An optimization model for reconstructing administrative districts was formulated based on these criteria. The model considered three criteria; homogeneity within a reconstructed district, equity among reconstructed districts, and spatial arrangement. Homogeneity for relieving spatial mismatch between administrative and living(economic) boundaries is measured by spatial interaction within a district. Equity among districts is evaluated using population, area, and financial independence. Finally, spatial arrangement is measured by compactness and contiguity. The developed optimization model was implemented using Automated Zoning Procedure(AZP) in GIS environment and applied to a problem aggregating Si-Gun administrative units into broader districts. Application results demonstrate that the model can provide optimal districts according to alternative objective functions.

In order to investigate the meanings and bases of transforming theories of diseases(病傳論), several relevant theories were collected from medical books since . The outside-to-inside changing process(pyoree jeon) was the fundamental pattern in febrile diseases regardless of slang han and wen bing after Han dynasty. But in case of numb disease the three exogenous pathogenic factors of wind, cold and dampness got into each viscera through five tissues like skin, vessesl, flesh, tendons, bones respectively. It was called corresponding changing process(sanghap jeon) here. The pathogenic changing process(byungsa jeon) had complicated details to explain pathologic processes, but could give useful informations on evaluating relative strength of pathogens and tendency ahead. The changing process of diseases of internal injuries were explained in case of emotional distress which is outbroken abruptly didn't follow regular order of viscera-emotion relations. So it was named random changing process(bulcha jeon) after 's usage. And marasmus and asthenic disease followed top-to-down or down-to-top changing process(sangha jeon) based on . There are many types of changing process of diseases between viscera and viscera or viscera and bowels like generation changing process, restriction changing process, changing process between couple, changing process of mutual transmission based on attributions of each element by the theory of 5 phases(五行論). And changing process to a neighbor doesn't have any special relations within two organs but has anatomical contiguity and physiological continuity between them. The transforming theories of diseases bring forth useful understanding on comings and goings of pathogenic factors and tendency and prognosis of disease, so they are needed to be taught in the course of pathology class.
