전자게시판의 토의 활동에 대한 계산 모델 (A Computational Model for Discussion Activities on Electronic BBS)

  • 전자게시판 기반의 컴퓨터 매게 통신 (CMC: Computer-Mediated Communication)은 인터넷의 출현 이래로 다양한 교육적 목적을 위하여 활용되어 왔다. 교수자는 게시물의 내용 분석을 통하여 교수목적을 성취할 수 있고 토의 활동에 대한 분석적 정보로부터 기술적 도움을 받을 수 있다. 내용 분석과 사회성에 대한 연구는 사회과학분야에서 전통적으로 이루어져 왔다. 그러나 그 현상에 대한 수리 논리적 분석에 대한 연구는 드물다. 이러한 목적을 위하여 본 논문에서는 커뮤니케이션 활동을 논리적으로 표현하고 분석하기 위하여 계산 모델을 제안한다. 모델에는 토의 활동에 대한 형식 표현을 제공하는 상호작용 벡터와 그것의 그래픽 표현인 상호작용 차트로 이루어져 있다. 이러한 모델은 토의 그룹을 계량적으로 분석하고 비교하는데 유용한 도움을 줄 수 있다.

엘리자베스 왕조시대 극장의 공간구성 및 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Space composition and character of the Elizabethan Theater)

  • This study examines the space composition and character of Elizabethan Theater base on the theory of drama and Shakespeares play in the english traditional theater. Contemporary multi purpose theater and public space is considered as a symbolic representation of the Elizabethan theaters organization and renaissance culture. In the historical theory, the Shakespeares theater was a common tool and best systeme in reflecting peoples lives. This role of theater as mass culture and new style of theater permanent design has get its value with the population increase and the urban centralization of the city and urban common sense. This study attempts to reevaluate the need of public space in modern society through a critical review of theater and its use as a open space design. Content analysis was used to discuss the topics of this study including the historical background of the theater, the relationship between Greek culture and modern design, and the role of scenery, auditorium and its impact on urban environment. The scope of the study is limited to the comparison of Elizabethan theater and space use program from the space critic and sociologist. Today the concept of theatrical space is altered with the advent of non-objects and multi media space. This study provides insights for the future implications of theatrical space in developing public space for its a new definition as cultural representation.

  • 정보 표현의 기본 단위인 엘리먼트로 구성되는 XML 문서 내에서 동적으로 구조 변경이 이루어진다. 이때 XML 문서의 구조변경은 빠른 검색을 위해 기존의 색인 구조 정보의 변경 없이 효율적으로 처리되어야 한다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 XML 문서의 구조 변경 시 기존의 색인 구조에 효율적으로 수용될 수 있는 동적 색인 모델을 제안한다. 제안하는 동적 색인 모델은 다양한 구조 검색을 지원하기 위한 구조 정보 표현 방법과 효율적인 구조 검색을 지원하기 위한 동적 색인 구조로 구성된다. 제안하는 색인 기법이 기존의 동적 색인을 지원하는 기법보다 내용 색인, 구조 색인, 애트리뷰트 색인 측면에서 우수함을 성능 평가를 통해 보인다.

  • 멀티미디어정보검색 응용분야에서 내용-본위 이미지 검색은 유사성이 높은 멀티미디어 문서를 검색하는데 있어서 필수적이다. 따라서, 본 논문은 픽셀 (Pixel) 단위의 본래 이미지가 자동적 혹은 수동적으로 아이콘(icon) 객체로 구성된 아이콘 이미지로 변환될 때, 아이콘 이미지의 효율적인 표현과 검색을 제공하기 위함이다. 이를 위해 먼저 아이콘 객체를 점 대신에 사각형으로 표현함으로써 아이콘들간의 공간관계를 정확하게 표현할 수 있는 새로운 공간 매치 표현 기법을 제안한다. 또한, 이미지의 검색을 가속화시키기 위해, 2차원 시그니쳐 화일 구성을 사용한 효율적인 검색기법을 설계한다. 마지막으로, 성능 실험을 통하여 제안한 공간 매치 표현 기법이 기존의 9-DLT 표현 기법보다 더 나은 검색 효율을 나타냄을 보인다.

초등 과학 우수 학생의 일상적 맥락의 과학 문제 해결 과정: 서답형 문항에 대한 응답 분석 (Everyday science problem solving processes of high ability elementary students in science: Analysis of written responses)

  • The problem solving processes of elementary school children who are talented in science have been seldom studied. Researchers often resort to thinking aloud method to collect data of problem solving processes. The major purpose of the study is investigating high ability elementary school students' problem solving processes through the analysis of written responses to science problems in everyday context. 67 elementary students were participated Chungcheongbuk-do Elementary Science Contest held on October, 1997. The written responses of the contest participants to science problems in everyday context were analyzed in terms of problem solving processes. The findings of the research are as follows. (1) High ability elementary students use various concepts about air and water in the process of problem solving. (2) High ability elementary students use content specific problem solving strategies. (3) The problem solving processes of the high ability elementary students consist of problem representation, problem solution, and answer stages. Problem representation stage is further divided into translation and integration phases. Problem solving stage is composed of deciding relevant knowledge, strategy, and info..ins phases. (4) High ability elementary students' problem solving processes could be categorized into 11 qualitatively different groups. (5) Students failures in problem solving are explained by many phases of problem solving processes. Deciding relevant knowledge and inferring phases play major roles in problem solving. (6) The analysis of students' written responses, although has some limitations, could provide plenty of information about high ability elementary students' problem solving precesses.

모양기반 식물 잎 이미지 검색을 위한 표현 및 매칭 기법 (A Representation and Matching Method for Shape-based Leaf Image Retrieval)

  • 본 논문은 모양 특성을 이용한 효과적인 식물 잎 이미지 검색 시스템을 제시한다. 잎 이미지의 더 효과적인 표현을 위해 개선된 MPP 알고리즘을 제안하고, 매칭에 소요되는 시간을 줄이기 위해 기존의 Nearest Neighbor(NN) 검색을 수정한 동적인 매칭 알고리즘을 제시한다. 특히, 더 나은 정확율과 효율성을 위해, 잎 모양과 잎차례를 스케치하여 질의할 수 있도록 하였다. 실험에서는 제안한 알고리즘과 기존의 알고리즘인 CCD(Centroid Contour Distance), Fourier Descriptor. Curvature Scale Space Descriptor (CSSD), Moment Invariants, MPP와 비교하였다. 1000여개의 식물 잎 이미지를 통한 실험결과는 제안한 방법이 기존의 기법보다 더 좋은 성능임을 보였다.

Pruning and Matching Scheme for Rotation Invariant Leaf Image Retrieval

  • For efficient content-based image retrieval, diverse visual features such as color, texture, and shape have been widely used. In the case of leaf images, further improvement can be achieved based on the following observations. Most plants have unique shape of leaves that consist of one or more blades. Hence, blade-based matching can be more efficient than whole shape-based matching since the number and shape of blades are very effective to filtering out dissimilar leaves. Guaranteeing rotational invariance is critical for matching accuracy. In this paper, we propose a new shape representation, indexing and matching scheme for leaf image retrieval. For leaf shape representation, we generated a distance curve that is a sequence of distances between the leaf’s center and all the contour points. For matching, we developed a blade-based matching algorithm called rotation invariant - partial dynamic time warping (RI-PDTW). To speed up the matching, we suggest two additional techniques: i) priority queue-based pruning of unnecessary blade sequences for rotational invariance, and ii) lower bound-based pruning of unnecessary partial dynamic time warping (PDTW) calculations. We implemented a prototype system on the GEMINI framework [1][2]. Using experimental results, we showed that our scheme achieves excellent performance compared to competitive schemes.
