Adaptive Standby Mode Scheduling Method Based on Analysis of Activation Pattern for Improving User Experience of Low-Power Set-Top Boxes

  • The lowest power mode (passive-standby mode) was proposed for reducing the power consumption of set-top boxes in a standby state when not receiving content. However, low-power set-top boxes equipped with the lowest power mode have been rarely commercialized because of their low-quality user experience. In the lowest power mode, they deactivates almost all of operational modules and processes, and thus require dozens of seconds for activation latency (that is, the latency for activating all modules of the set-top boxes in a standby state). They are not even updated in a standby state because they deactivate their network interfaces in a standby state. This paper proposes an adaptive standby mode scheduling method for improving the user experience of such boxes. Set-top boxes using the proposed method can analyze the activation pattern and find the frequently used time period (that is, when the set-top boxes are frequently activated). They prepare for their activation during this frequently used time period, thereby reducing the activation latency and enabling their update in a standby state.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate e-EBPP(Evidence-based Practice Protocol) system for nursing care for patients with dementia to facilitate the best evidence-based decision in their dementia care settings. Method: The system was developed based on system development life cycle and software prototyping using the following 5 processes: Analysis, Planning, Developing, Program Operation, and Final Evaluation. Result: The system consisted of modules for evidence-based nursing and protocol, guide for developing protocol, tool for saving, revising, and deleting the protocol, interface tool among users, and tool for evaluating users' satisfaction of the system. On the main page, there were 7 menu bars that consisted of Introduction of site, EBN info, Dementia info, Evidence Based Practice Protocol, Protocol Bank, Community, and Site Link. In the operation of the system, HTML, JavaScript, and Flash were utilized and the content consisted of text content, interactive content, animation, and quiz. Conclusion: This system can support nurses' best and cost-effective clinical decision using sharable standardized protocols consisting of the best evidence in dementia care. In addition, it can be utilized as an e-learning program for nurses and nursing students to learn use of evidence based information.

한외여과 공정에 의한 알로에 베라 겔 농축 (Concentration of Fresh Gel from Aloe vera L. by Using Ultrafiltration Process)

  • The concentration of fresh gel from Aloe vera L. by using ulfrafiltration (UF) process was investigated and analyzed. The two membranes (organic and ceramic) with different molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) and modules (flat sheet and tubular) was used. Under optimum operation conditions, ceramic (zirconium dioxide) tubular membrane with MWCO of 50 kDa resulted in higher flux, less fouling, more turbid, higher total solid, higher polysaccharide and less aloin content. Optimum operation conditions were transmembrane pressure of 1.0 bar, feed velocity of 240 L/hr and temperature of $23^{\circ}C$. Volume concentration factor of aloe gel was 3.13 at permeate flux of $51.1\;L/m^2{\cdot}hr$ after processing time of 1.66 hr. Aloin in fresh aloe gel by UF process was effectively removed as permeate and bioactive polysaccharide content was 2.1 times higher than that of fresh aloe gel. These results allowed a very good level of concentration degree and polysaccharide content. Thus, ultrafiltration process of this study was suitable for the concentration of fresh aloe gel though the aloe concentrate showed both the viscosity decrease and partially separation of liquid layer during storage at $4^{\circ}C$.

Interactive Authoring Tool for Mobile Augmented Reality Content

  • As mobile augmented reality technologies are spreading these days, many users want to produce augmented reality (AR) contents what they need by themselves. To keep pace with such needs, we have developed a mobile AR contents builder (hereafter referred to as MARB) that enables the user to easily connect a natural marker and a virtual object with various interaction events that are used to manipulate the virtual object in a mobile environment so that users can simply produce an AR content using natural photos and virtual objects that they select. MARB consists of five major modules-target manger, virtual object manager, AR accessory manager, AR content manager, and AR viewer. The target manager, virtual object manager and AR accessory manager register and manage natural target markers, various virtual objects and content accessories (such as various decorating images), respectively. The AR content manger defines a connection between a target and a virtual object with enabling various interactions for the desired functions such as translation/rotation/scaling of the virtual object, playing of a music, etc. AR viewer augments various virtual objects (such as 2D images, 3D models and video clips) on the pertinent target. MARB has been developed in a mobile application (app) format in order to create AR contents simply using mobile smart devices without switching to a PC environment for authoring the content. In this paper, we present the detail organizations and applications of MARB. It is expected that MARB will enable ordinary users to produce diverse mobile AR contents for various purposes with ease and contribute to expanding the mobile AR market based on spread of a variety of AR contents.

119구급대원 대상 환자평가 교육과정에서 교육내용, 교수법, 평가 방법의 상대적 중요도 비교 (Comparison of the relative importance of educational content, teaching methods, and evaluation methods in the patient assessment curriculum for 119 EMTs)

  • Purpose: This study compared the relative importance of educational content, teaching methods, and evaluation methods in the patient assessment curricula of 119 emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Methods: First, we identified the educational content, training hours, and teaching and evaluation methods of the existing patient assessment curriculum based on the National Competency Standard learning module. Second, we surveyed 30 EMTs affiliated with 119 services using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. Subsequently, we compared the differences between the current curriculum and the AHP analysis results. Results: Currently in operation, the "Advanced EMT Course" comprises three learning modules: assessment of patient status, scene size-up and triage, and assessment using monitoring devices. Among these, content related to the assessment of patient status received the most allocated time and was deemed the most important according to the AHP survey results. Conversely, while less time was allocated to scene size and triage compared with assessment using monitoring devices, the former was assessed as more important than the latter in the AHP results. Furthermore, scenario-based team training and procedure-focused individual practice were evaluated as relatively important teaching methods, while practical examination using a checklist was deemed the most appropriate evaluation method for all learning content. Conclusion: To improve the patient assessment curriculum, we propose adjusting teaching hours and introducing new teaching and evaluation methods based on the results of relative importance. The proposed improvement plan will contribute to enhancing the competency of 119 EMTs.

ARPA/레이더 시뮬레이션 교육 모듈의 표준화 연구 (A Study on the Standardization of Education Modules for ARPA/Radar Simulation)

  • 예비 항해사는 타선과의 충돌 가능성을 사전에 파악하여 회피할 수 있는 능력을 ARPA/레이더 시뮬레이션 교육을 통해 갖추어야 한다. 이러한 시뮬레이션 교육은 국내외 지침(해양수산부 고시, STCW 협약 등)에 교육 내용과 기간만이 명시되어 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 시뮬레이션 교육 훈련 모듈의 부재로 각 해기 교육 기관에서는 자체적으로 모듈을 구성하여 관련 증서를 발행하고 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 이로 인하여 ARPA/레이더 시뮬레이션을 통한 동일한 해기 능력 함양이 어려운 것이 현실이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 우리나라 해기 교육 기관별 동일한 능력 함양을 위하여 ARPA/레이더 시뮬레이션 교육 모듈을 표준화하고, 표준화된 모듈을 통한 교육 향상도에 대하여 검증하고자 한다. 이를 위해서 우리나라 해기 교육 기관의 시뮬레이션 교육 형태를 조사하고, 교통 조사를 기반으로 한 실해역의 교통 흐름을 반영한 시나리오 제시, 교육 훈련 및 평가를 효율적으로 하기 위한 해기사 핵심 역량 기반 모듈을 제시하였다. 그리고 2년간에 데이터를 이용하여 표준화된 모듈을 통한 교육 훈련의 향상 정도를 파악하였다. 이러한 표준화된 ARPA/레이더 시뮬레이션 모듈을 통해 각 교육 기관에서는 효율적이고 체계적인 해기 교육이 가능하고 해기능력 향상을 통한 선박 통항 안전에 기여할 수 있는 기반을 마련할 수 있다.

  • EPUB 3 기반의 전자책 뷰어 호환성을 보장하기 위해 IDPF에서는 2015년 1월 Readium SDK v1.0을 발표하였고, 사용자 친화적인 DRM 기능을 위해 Readium LCP 명세서를 개발하여 이에 대한 구현을 진행하고 있다. 그러나 Readium SDK 자체의 복잡성으로 인해 Readium SDK와 LCP 모듈과의 연동은 간단히 이루어지지 않고 있다. 더욱이 특정 DRM 기술과 무관하게 아키텍처를 유지하고자 하는 Readium SDK 입장에서는 하나의 DRM에 불과한 LCP와의 강한 연동은 결코 바라는 방향이 아니다. 본 논문에서는 Readium SDK의 복잡성을 숨기고 복수 DRM이 Readium SDK와 쉽게 연동될 수 있도록 하는 Readium SDK 기반의 전자책 DRM 호환을 위한 Content Protection Framework 모델을 제시한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 아동 자신의 경계를 스스로 인식할 수 있는 내용을 담은 영상 콘텐츠를 제시하고 능동적인 학습을 위한 터치 방식의 콘텐츠를 구현한다. 영상은 총 4개의 모듈로 구성되어 있으며 각 스토리는 내용 전개, 경계 존중 개념 학습, 학습 내용 평가로 진행된다. 경계 존중개념은 성폭력이 일어나는 상황 역시 경계를 넘나드는 행위로 보여 주어 성폭력 문제가 아동 안전의 연장선에 있다는 인식을 심어주는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 그리고 학습 내용 평가는 터치 게임을 통해 게임에 성공하면 상을 받는 것으로 사용자에게 학습 성취도를 높여준다.

A High-Efficiency High-Power Step-Up Converter with Low Ripple Content

  • A new phase-shifted parallel-input/series-output (PI SO) dual inductor-fed push-pull converter for high-power step­up applications is proposed. This converter is operated at a constant duty cycle and employs an auxiliary circuit to control the output voltage with a phase-shift between the two modules. It features a voltage conversion characteristic which is linear to changes in the control input, and high step-up ratio with a greatly reduced switch turn-off stress resulting in a significant increase in the converter efficiency. It also shows a low ripple content and low root-mean-square (RMS) current in the output capacitor. The operational principle is analyzed and a comparative analysis with the conventional pulse-width-modulated (PWM) PISO dual inductor-fed push-pull converter is presented. A 50kHz, 800W, 350Vdc prototype with an input of 20-32Vdc has also been constructed to validate the proposed converter. The proposed converter compares favorably with the conventional counterpart and is considered well suited to high-power step-up applications.

보건의료담당 공무원을 위한 빅데이터 교육콘텐츠 (Big Data Education Contents for Healthcare Officials)

  • 빅데이터 기술이 미래 보건의료 패러다임변화를 선도할 핵심기술로 부각되면서, 보건의료 담당 공무원들에 대한 빅데이터 교육 필요성이 높아지고 있다. 한국은 전국민 건강보험데이터 등 세계적 수준의 빅데이터 보유국으로서, 데이터 기반의 미래 예측과 정책수립을 통해 보건정책의 성과향상 및 지속가능성이 주목받고 있다. 이에 따라 현업에서 보건의료를 담당하는 공무원을 위한 보건의료 데이터 자원 활용 전문인재양성교육 콘텐츠에 대한 수요는 증대되고 있으나, 현장에 적합한 인적자원개발을 위한 보건의료분야 국가직무능력표준(NCS, National Competency Standards)이나 학습모듈이 없다. 본 연구에서는 보건업무 담당 공무원들의 빅데이터 직무 역량강화를 위해, 타분야 빅데이터 관련 NCS를 고려하여, 현업에서 보건의료분야 공공데이터를 효율적으로 활용할 수 있는 역량을 갖춘 공무원양성을 위한 보건의료 빅데이터 교육모듈과 콘텐츠를 도출하였다.
