This study was conducted to determine the effect of hygienic processing (HP) on the reduction of microorganisms during manufacturing of saengshik with two vegetables (carrots and cabbage) and two grains (barely and glutinous rice) compared to general processing (GP). For GP, distilled water was used for washing raw materials and equipment. For HP, aqueous ozone (3 ppm) in combination with 1% citric acid and 70% alcohol were used for washing raw materials and the equipment, respectively. In carrots, after cutting, total aerobic bacteria (TAB), yeast and mold (YM) and coliforms were significantly increased to 5.19, 8.04 and 2.08 ($log_{10}$ CFU/g), respectively (p<0.05). Washing effectively reduced the increased microorganisms from cross contamination during cutting, but cross contamination increased with subsequent GP drying and milling procedures to 8.56, 8.27 and 3.71 ($log_{10}$ CFU/g) for TAB, YM and coliforms, respectively (p<0.05). On the other hand, HP washing of carrots with 3 ppm ozone in combination with 1% citric acid showed higher antimicrobial effect than GP washing, significantly decreasing the number of microorganisms (p<0.05). Further cross contamination did not occur through drying and milling due to cleaning the equipments with 70% alcohol prior to processing. After milling, the number of TAB, YM and coliforms were significantly decreased to 3.89, 4.47 and not detectable level ($log_{10}$ CFU/g), respectively (p<0.05). Similar results were observed in cabbage and grains. During storage for two months at different temperatures (22 or $4^{\circ}C$), there were no changes in numbers of spoilage microorganisms in the packaged saengsik after either processing. This suggests the importance of HP for the reduction of microorganisms during saengsik production, and demonstrates the effectiveness of disinfection at each processing stage in minimizing contamination levels to enhance microbial safety of saengshik products.

In this research, we proceeded with research on plasma resistance of the cleaning process of APS(Atmospheric Plasma Spray)-Y2O3 coated parts used for semiconductor and display plasma process equipment. CF4, O2, and Ar mixed gas were used for the plasma environment, and respective alconox, surfactant, and piranha solution was used for the cleaning process. After APS-Y2O3 was exposed to CF4 plasma, the surface changed from Y2O3 to YF3 and a large amount of carbon was deposited. For this reason, the plasma corrosion resistance was lowered and contamination particles were generated. We performed a cleaning process to remove the defect-inducing surface YF3 layer and carbon layer. Among three cleaning solutions, the piranha cleaning process had the highest detergency and the alconox cleaning process had the lowest detergency. Such results could be confirmed through the etching amount, morphology, composition, and accumulated contamination particle analysis results. Piranha cleaning process showed the highest detergency, but due to the very large thickness reduction, the base metal was exposed and a large number of contaminated particles were generated. In contrast, the surfactant cleaning process exhibit excellent properties in terms of surface detergency, etching amount, and accumulated contamination particle analysis.

Particle contamination on the data storage disks has been a serious problem for magnetic hard disk drive manufacturers. For high storage optical disks, such as DVD-ROM/RAM or NFR (near field recording) system, particle-induced damages can be also detected because only a few micrometer particles can prevent read/write signal from optical lens. The increasing areal density and smaller bit size accelerates particle induced damages on the optical disk. One of the methods to prevent particle contamination on the optical disk surface is to handle the disk enclosed in a cartridge like a modern DVD-RAM disk. However, even for a perfectly sealed disk drive, particles are found inside the drive. The other method is to improve disk surface characteristics. Particle contamination on the surface can be reduced by proper selection of disk coating materials. [n this paper, particle detachment ratios for CD (compact disk), DVD (digital versatile disk), HD (magnetic hard disk), HD with Jut lubricant, and aluminosilicate substrate HD were investigated. Surface roughness and surface energy of the test disks were compared with the particle detachment ratios. Proper substrate and lubricant characteristics to reduce particle contamination on the disk surface were found.
Food hygiene practices must be maintained from farm to table in order to prevent contamination by microorganisms. This study was conducted to investigate consumer hygiene practices related to the refrigerator storage of meat, including a microbial analysis, monitoring of refrigerator temperatures and consumer surveys of female homeowners in the capital area of Korea. Home refrigerator temperatures were maintained above $5^{\circ}C$ in 26 (19.7%) of the 132 houses investigated. The percentage of the refrigerators with a total microbial count over $10^2\;CFU/100\;cm^2$ was 14.4%. No E. coli, Salmonella spp. or Listeria monocytogenes microbes were detected. However, Staphylococcus aureus was detected in 14 houses (10.6%). The only statistically significant difference in hygiene practices between the non-contamination group and contamination group was in the last time of refrigerator cleaning (p<0.01), as determined by the consumer survey. To improve food hygiene when using a refrigerator, raw materials must be packaged, meat should be stored only on a designated shelf, and cooked foods must be contained to prevent cross-contamination. The refrigerator should be cleaned regularly, at least once a month, and refrigerator thermometers should be monitored below $5^{\circ}C$ in order to keep food safe.
Emulsion-type cometics contain many kinds of carbon and energy source i.e., vegetable oil, mineral oil and carbohydrate etc., those can be used as nutrients and caused contamination by microbials. Thereby we have to keep cosmetics from the possibility of contamination by microbials. From this viewpoint, the purpose of this study is to get the data necessary not only to prevent dermatopathia occurred by microbials but also to sustain the quality. In this experiment, we observed how many Staphylococcus aureus were grown in the prepared cosmetics with or without antiseptics so as to prevent contamination. When the contamination proceed, the stability of phase was disturbed and creaming phenomina was happened with some discoloration and bad smell. About 40 days after, the pH was changed from 7.6 to 6.5 and the refractive index of cosmetic raw materials were changed from 1.4415 to 1.4490(water : oil=70:30). By adding antiseptics Into prepared cosmetics, the number of Staphylococcus aureus with challenge test method were decreased to 7$\times$103 cell/ml. For the antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus, p-hydroxy benzoic acid propyl ester in phosphoric acid buffer solution was the best.

Purpose. Implant mechanical complications, including screw loosening, can influence dental implant success. It has been shown that torque values are affected by contamination occurred in implant-abutment (I/A) interface. This study aimed to examine the effects of blood, saliva, fluoride and chlorhexidine contamination on reverse torque values (RTVs) of abutment screws in oral conditions. Materials and Methods. 50 fixtures were mounted into the stainless-steel holders and divided into five groups (n = 10). Except control group (NC), fixture screw holes in other groups were contaminated with chlorhexidine (CG), saliva (SG), blood (BG), or fluoride (FG). Abutment screws were tightened with a digital torque meter. I/A assemblies were subjected to thermocycling and cyclic loading. The mean RTVs were recorded and data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA and Tukey test. Results. Except for specimens in SG (20.56 ± 1.33), other specimens in BG (21.11 ± 1.54), CG (22.89 ± 1.1) and FG (24.00 ± 1.12) displayed significantly higher RTVs compared to NC (19.00 ± 1.87). The highest RTVs were detected in CG and FG. Conclusion. The obtained data robustly suggest that RTVs were significantly affected by fluid contaminations. Specimens in FG and CG displayed the highest RTVs. Therefore, clinicians should have enough knowledge about probable contaminations in I/A interface in order to manage them during clinical procedure and to inform patients about using oral care products.
Background: The objective of this study was to investigate Korean people's awareness about impact of the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident in Japan and radioactive contamination caused by it. Materials and Methods: The respondents of the survey were 600 adults who resided in the Seoul metropolitan area. Results and discussion: The survey results show that the majority of respondents were concerned about impact of radiation leakage that might have an effect on our environment. They were worried about radioactive contamination of foodstuffs, particularly fishery products and preferred to acquire information through TV(49.8%) or the Internet(31.3%). Meanwhile, respondents mentioned that the information on the Fukushima nuclear accident and radioactive contamination had not been sufficient and they didn't know well about the follow-up measures of the government on the accident. Most respondents answered that information on radioactive contamination levels and safety of foods and environment was most needed. Conclusion: The results of this study could be useful to enhance awareness on radioactivity and improve risk communication on nuclear power plant accidents.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate microbiological contamination of knives and cutting boards in child-care centers. Materials used in this study were swabbed of cutting boards and knives (blade, handle of knife, and joint of handle and blade) in 129 child-care centers. Mean values of total aerobic bacteria of swabs of knives and cutting boards were 1.7±0.7 log cfu/100 ㎠ and 1.7±0.9 log cfu/100 ㎠, respectively. Contamination levels of coliform bacteria from knives and cutting boards were 1.5±0.6 log cfu/100 ㎠ and 1.7±0.8 log cfu/100 ㎠, respectively. Comparing microbiological contamination levels of knives and cutting boards according to type and size of child-care centers, there was no significant difference. Bacillus cereus was detected in knife handles and cutting boards. Diarrhea-type toxin gene (entFM) was detected in B. cereus isolates. Antibiotic resistance tests showed that B. cereus was resistant to β-lactam antibiotics. To reduce microbiological contamination levels of knives and cutting boards in child-care centers and prevent food poisoning from bacteria contamination, continuous education by children's food-service management center is needed for sterilization and disinfection of knives and cutting boards.

AZO (aluminum-doped zinc oxide) is one of the best candidate materials to replace ITO (indium tin oxide) for TCOs (transparent conductive oxides) used in flat panel displays, organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), and organic solar cells (OSCs). In the present study, to apply an AZO thin film to the transparent electrode of an organic solar cell, a low-temperature selective atomic layer deposition (ALD) process was adopted to deposit an AZO thin film on a flexible poly-ethylene-naphthalate (PEN) substrate. The reactive gases for the ALD process were di-ethyl-zinc (DEZ) and tri-methyl-aluminum (TMA) as precursors and H2O as an oxidant. The structural, electrical, and optical characteristics of the AZO thin film were evaluated. From the measured results of the electrical and optical characteristics of the AZO thin films deposited on the PEN substrates by ALD, it was shown that the AZO thin film appeared to be comparable to a commercially used ITO thin film, which confirmed the feasibility of AZO as a TCO for flexible organic solar cells in the near future.
Metallic Cr film coatings of $1.2{\mu}m$ thickness were prepared by DC magnetron sputter deposition method on c-plane sapphire substrates. The thin Cr films were ammoniated during horizontal furnace thermal annealing for 10-240 min in $NH_3$ gas flow conditions between 400 and $900^{\circ}C$. After annealing, changes in the crystal phase and chemical constituents of the films were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) surface analysis. Nitridation of the metallic Cr films begins at $500^{\circ}C$ and with further increases in annealing temperature not only chromium nitrides ($Cr_2N$ and CrN) but also chromium oxide ($Cr_2O_3$) was detected. The oxygen in the films originated from contamination during the film formation. With further increase of temperature above $800^{\circ}C$, the nitrogen species were sufficiently supplied to the film's surface and transformed to the single-phase of CrN. However, the CrN phase was only available in a very small process window owing to the oxygen contamination during the sputter deposition. From the XPS analysis, the atomic concentration of oxygen in the as-deposited film was about 40 at% and decreased to the value of 15 at% with increase in annealing temperature up to $900^{\circ}C$, while the nitrogen concentration was increased to 42 at%.
