Parametric Study on the Joint Strength of Unidirectional and Fabric Hybrid Laminate (일방향-평직 복합재 혼합 적층판의 기계적 체결부 강도에 관한 인자연구)

  • A parametric study has been conducted to investigate the effect of the geometry on the strength of an unidirectional and fabric hybrid laminated composite joint. Tests are conducted for the specimens with nine different edge-to-hole diameter or width-to-hole diameter ratios. For the finite element analysis, the characteristic length method is used, and the tests for determining the characteristic length are performed additionally. Nonlinear contact problem between the pin and laminate is modeled by the gap element in MSC/NASTRAN. Tsai-Wu failure criteria is applied to the stress on the characteristic curve. The finite element and experimental results shows good agreement in strength of composite joint. Results of the parametric study shows the effect of the geometry is remarkable in the specimens with width-to-hole diameter ratio less than 2.8 and edge-to-hole diameter ratio less than 1.4.

Bioceramic Effects to Enhance Secondary Metabolites Production in Tissue Culture of Some Medicinal Plants

  • We have investigated that a couple of soft ferrite ceramic powders having a spinal structure have shown the effect on growth and secondary metabolites production of some medicinal plants cultured in vitro. The addition of the ceramic powders as bare state to culture medium has stimulated the growth of Achyranthes japonica callus and plantlet, adventitious root of Hyoscyamus niger and Platycodon grandiflorum hairy root about 65, 75, 150 and 50%, respectively. Whereas Centella asiatica callus and plantlet, Scopolia parviflora hairy root, and Hyoscyamus albus adventitious root were not affected markedly. Moreover, the ceramic powder has enhanced the growth of H. niger adventitious roots even under conditions of irradiating alone without any direct contact between ceramic powder and media. Based on growth stimulation effect, the ceramic powders have enhanced the gross production of tropane alkaloid in H. niger adventitious root, and polyacetylene in P. grandiflorum hairy root about 35 and 30%, respectively.

  • Effect of elastic/plastic mismatch on the fracture of Si3N4 coating in Si3N4/Si3N4 -BN bilayer was investigated by Hertzian indentation testing. A different amount of mismatch between two layers was induced by different BN addition in the substrate layer, and Hertizian cracks were induced by using WC ball indenter. As a result, as the elastic/plastic mismatch between coating and substrate layer increased, the coating fracture easily occurred. A bending stress induced by different elastic/plastic mismatch was main reason to cause the fracture of coating.

  • 본 연구에서는 절삭공정 중 발생하는 공구의 접촉이탈 현상에 의하여 공작 물의 절삭된 표면중에 한회전 및 그 이전 회전에 절삭된 절삭면의 형상이 현재의 절삭 깊이에 영향을 미치는 다중재생효과(multiple regenerative effect)가 존재하는 선삭 작업에서 공구의 착탈현상을 고려한 비선형채터(nonlinear chatter)를 공작기계의 생 산성의 관점에서 절삭공정의 특성을 고려하여 해석하였으며, 수동제어기의 일종인 임 펙트댐퍼를 절삭공정에 응용하여 절삭작업중에 공작기계의 안정성향상 뿐만 아니라 생 산성의 증가효과를 규명하였다.아울러 댐퍼자체의 설계변수에 따른 채터 억제효과 를 고려하여 최적의 댐퍼를 설계하는 방법을 제시하였다.

  • The new numerical procedure for hydroplaning has been developed by considering the following three important factors; fluid/structure interaction, tire rolling, and practical tread pattern. The tire was analyzed by FEM with Lagrangian formulation and the fluid is analyzed by FVM with Eulerian formulation. Since the tire and the fluid are modeled separately and their coupling is automatically computed by the coupling element, the fluid/structure interaction of the complex geometry such as the tire with the tread pattern can be analyzed practically. We verified the predictability of the hydroplaning simulation in the different parameters such as the water flow, the velocity dependence of hydroplaning, and the effect of the tread pattern on hydroplaning. In order to predict the streamline in the contact patch, the procedure of the global-local analysis was developed. Since the streamline could be predicted by this technology, we could develop the new pattern in a short period based on the principle; "make the stream line smooth".

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the viscosity of coating colors and ink-jet printing properties with different coating colors with various blending ratios of silica based pigments. The volume of pigments was measured to evaluate the effect of the pigments on the viscosity of coating colors. Contact angle, the change of ink diameter, optical density, and the area and perimeter of a printed let-ter were evaluated to examine the effect of the ink absorption on the ink-jet printing properties. Generally, as the amount of silica pigments Increased the ink-jet printing quality improved. But this caused an increase of the overall coating viscosity.

  • The rotational performance off machine tool spindle has a direct influence upon the surface finish of the finished workpiece. This running accuracy of the spindle is improved by increasing preload on the bearings, while it results in higher temperature rise and larger thermal deformation. Therefore, finding the optimal preload condition for high speed spindle is very important factors in spindle motion. in spindle motion. In this study, the effect of the preload on the roundness accuracy has been examined at the different cutting conditions. Experiments were carried out to investigate the effects of the bearing preload on the running accuracy of high speed spindle which was supported by two angular contact bearings.

  • In this paper, the stress and deformation characteristics of the high pressure hose that have the hose components such as rubber, braid and steel( sleeve and nipple) during the manufacturing process, and analyzed using the [mite element method The swaging process is modeled with a contact problem in identical conditions of real circumstances, and the properties of hose materials based on the experimental data are used in this analysis. Also, to understand the effect of the nipple protrusions on the deformation characteristics of a power steering hose among the steel materials shape of the existing model, and changed the steel materials shape partially, and compared with the existing model.

  • The effect of plasma cleaning was examined on package delamination phenomena in the integrated circuit (IC) packaging process. Without plasma cleaning, delamination was observed for all three experimental treatments applied after the packaging step, which include bake of If, reflow, and bake of If followed by reflow However, no delamination was observed when the plasma cleaning was performed before and after the wire bonding step. Plasma cleaning was found to be a critical step to improve the reliability of the package by reducing the possibility of contact failure between die pad and bonding wire.

  • Diphenyl-2-ethanolamidophosphate (DPEOAP) was synthesized to treat polyester fabrics in order to improve its flame retardancy. The flame retardancy and physical properties of DPEOAP-treated polyester fabrics were investigated. The results were as follows: 1) polyester fabrics can be treated with DPEOAP by means of Pad-Dry-Cure method, because DPEOAP was easily soluble in benzene. 2) The most economic conditions of treatment were determined as 10% of DPEOAP cocentration, $140^{\circ}C$ of curing temperature, and 2 minutes of curing time. 3) Though the washablity of DPEOAP is low in comparison with the other products which are purchasable in a market, it has an excellent flame retardment effect 3 times more than in number of flame contact just with 0.66% add-on. 4) The physical properties of DPEOAP treated polyester fabrics were little changed as compared with non-treated fabric.
