  • In this paper, a numerical method for evaluating the efficiency of vibration reduction of substructure under slab track is developed for optimal design of floating slab track. The equation of motion for train and track interaction system is derived by applying compatibility condition at the contact points between wheels and rails. The train is modelled by 3-masses system and the track by continuous support beam system. Numerical analyses are carried out to investigate the effect of train speed, stiffness and damping of slab-pad, and track irregularity upon vibration reduction in substructure under the track.

  • Cefuroxime axetil, a broad spectrum antibiotic, has been known to form a gelatinous mass in contact with aqueous media, which could lead to poor dissolution. Therefore, this study was conducted for removing the gelling phenomenon and thereby obtaining a favorable dissolution profile. We have found that the addition of poly (methacrylic acid, methyl methacrylate) could not only inhibit the tendency of cefuroxime axetil to form a gel but also showed the good dissolution profile compared to the formula without poly (methacrylic acid, methyl methacrylate). • Fully-depleted silicon-on-insulator (FD-SOI) devices with a 15 nm SOI layer thickness and 60 nm gate lengths for analog applications have been investigated. The Si selective epitaxial growth (SEG) process was well optimized. Both the single- raised (SR) and double-raised (DR) source/drain (S/D) processes have been studied to reduce parasitic series resistance and improve device performance. For the DR S/D process, the saturation currents of both NMOS and PMOS are improved by 8 and 18%, respectively, compared with the SR S/D process. The self-heating effect is evaluated for both body contact and body floating SOI devices. The body contact transistor shows a reduced self-heating ratio, compared with the body floating transistor. The static noise margin of an SOI device with a $1.1\;{\mu}m^2$ 6T-SRAM cell is 190 mV, and the ring oscillator speed is improved by 25 % compared with bulk devices. The DR S/D process shows a higher open loop voltage gain than the SR S/D process. A 15 nm ultra-thin body (UTB) SOI device with a DR S/D process shows the same level of noise characteristics at both the body contact and body floating transistors. Also, we observed that noise characteristics of a 15 nm UTB SOI device are comparable to those of bulk Si devices.

  • Objectives : Trimellitic anhydride (TMA), a sensitizer that induces occupational asthma and atopic dermatitis, is widely used industrially to make epoxy and alkyd resins, plasticizers, high temperature polymer, and surfactants. The aim of this study was to investigative the effects of aqueous extracts of Lonicera japonica Flower(LJFAE) on TMA-induced contact hypersensitivity (CHS) in Balb/c mice. Methods : The dried flowers of L. japonica were extracted with distilled water at $100^{\circ}C$ for 7 h. The extract was freeze-dried following filteration through 0.45 ${\mu}m$ filter. Mice were orally administrated with or without LJFE of a different doses(25-100 mg/kg) for 28 days. In the challenge period, mice were externally applied at difference doses of LJFAE one time per day 30 min before TMA treatment. We examined the effects of LJFAE on the the serum levels of IgE and prostagladin E2 (PGE2), the Thl/Th2 cytokine production of spleen cells, ear swelling responses, and the leukocyte infiltration induced by TMA. Results : The orally and externally administration of LJFAE dose-dependently reduced the serum levels of IgE and PGE2 production as well as ear swelling responses and leukocyte infiltration in TMA-induced Balb/c mice. Furthermore, the levels of Thl (TNF-${\alpha}$, IFN-${\gammer}$, IL-2)/Th2 (IL-4, IL-5, IL-13) cytokine production from spleen cells stimulated with anti-CD3 and CD28 mAbs was markedly suppressed by the orally and externally treatment with LJFAE in a concentration dependent manner. Conclusions : These results suggest that LJFAE suppresses the inflammatory mediators and regulates the Thl/Th2 cytokines. Therefore, these properties may contribute to the strong anti-CHS response effect of LJFAE.

  • In this letter, we report on the investigation of Si/Ti, Pt/Si/Ti, Co/Si/Ti Ohmic contacts to p-type 4H-SiC. The contacts were formed by a 2-step vacuum annealing at $550^{\circ}C$ for 5 min, $850^{\circ}C$ for 2 min respectively. The contact resistances were measured using the transmission line model method, which resulted in specific $10^{-4}{\Omega}cm^2$, and the physical properties of the contactcontact resistivities in the $9.2{\times}10^{-4}$, $7.1{\times}10^{-4}$ and $4.5{\times}s$ were examined using microscopy, AES(auger electron spectroscopy). AES analysis has shown that, at this anneal temperature, there was a intermixing of the Ti and Si, migration of into SiC. Overlayer of Pt, Co had the effect of decreasing the specific contact resistivity and improving the surface morphology of the annealed contact.

  • In this work we have investigated electrical and optical properties of interface for ITO/Si with shallow doped emitter. The ITO is prepared by DC magnetron sputter on p-type monocrystalline silicon substrate. As an experimental result, The transmittance at 640nm spectra is obtained an average transmittance over 85% in the visible range of the optical spectrum. The energy bandgap of ITO at oxygen flow from 0% to 4% obtained between 3.57eV and 3.68eV (ITO : 3.75eV). The energy bandgap of ITO is depending on the thickness, sturcture and doping concentration. Because the bandgap and position of absorption edge for degenerated semiconductor oxide are determined by two competing mechanism; i) bandgap narrowing due to electron-electron and electron-impurity effects on the valance and conduction bands (> 3.38eV), ii) bandgap widening by the Burstein-Moss effect, a blocking of the lowest states of the conduction band by excess electrons( < 4.15eV). The resistivity of ITO layer obtained about $6{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$ at 4% of oxygen flow. In case of decrease resistivity of ITO, the carrier concentration and carrier mobility of ITO film will be increased. The contact resistance of ITO/Si with shallow doped emitter was measured by the transmission line method(TLM). As an experimental result, the contact resistance was obtained $0.0705{\Omega}cm^2$ at 2% oxygen flow. It is formed ohmic-contact of interface ITO/Si substrate. The emitter series resistance of ITO/Si with shallow doped emitter was obtained $0.1821{\Omega}cm^2$. Therefore, As an PC1D simulation result, the fill factor of EWT solar cell obtained above 80%. The details will be presented in conference.

  • HEMA (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), EGDMA (ethylene glycol dimethacrylate; cross-linker), MMA (methyl methacrylate) and AA (acrylic acid) were copolymerized with ethyl gallate and propyl gallate as additives in the presence of AIBN (2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile; initiator). The measurement of physical properties of the produced copolymers exhibited that refractive index, water content, visible transmittance, tensile strength, and contact angle were in the range of 1.433-1.435, 38.71-38.99%, 85.4-88.8%, 0.2468-0.2740 kgf and $49.77-36.29^{\circ}$, respectively. The transmittances of the copolymers were measured to be in the range of 49.0-7.4% and 71.0-43.4% for UV-B and UV-A, respectively, indicating that the copolymers have UV-blocking effect. The produced copolymers containing ethyl gallate and propyl gallate satisfied the basic physical properties required for the fabrication of hydrogel contact lenses. The copolymers showed an increase of wettability and UV-blocking effects while having no significant change in water content compared to the gallate-free copolymers.

  • In this study, emulsion type hydrophobic admixture was prepared by mixing polyvinyl alcohol surfactant, polymethyl hydro-siloxane and meta kaolin, and the compressive strength and mechanical properties such as permeability and contact angle test of the mortar were evaluated. The developed hydrophobic admixture showed no decrease in strength and the mortar specimen with magnesium oxide developed the early strength. In the case of permeability, total seepage was significantly decreased when the hydrophobic admixture was directly mixed with the mortar, but the effect of meta kaolin contained in hydrophobic admixture was not significant. The surface of specimens coated with hydrophobic admixture shows that the contact angle on the surface was highly increased compared with reference mortar specimen. Further researches to obtain the optimum mix proportion of the PVA fiber, nano-silica and meta kaolin for producing the super-hydrophobic surface are required.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the angle of a wedged insole on knee varus torque during walking. Fifteen healthy subjects were recruited. Knee varus torque was measured using three-dimensional motion analysis (Elite). Knee varus torque was normalized to gait cycle (0%: initial contact; 100%: ipsilateral initial contact) and stance phase (0%: initial contact; 100%: ipsilateral toe off). The average peaks of knee varus torque during the stance phase of the gait cycle according to the different insole angles (10 or 15 degrees) were compared using one-way ANOVA with repeated measures. The results showed that in the early stance phase, the average peak knee varus torque increased significantly for both the medial 10 and 15 degree wedged insole conditions and decreased significantly for both the lateral 10 and 15 degree wedged insole conditions as compared with no insole (p<.05). However, there were no significant differences between the 10 and 15 degree wedged insole conditions with either the medial or lateral wedged insole (p>.05). In the late stance phase, the average peak knee varus torque increased significantly for the medial 10 and 15 degree wedged insole conditions (p<.05), but not for the lateral 10 and 15 degree wedged insole conditions as compared with no insole (p>.05). We suggest that these results may be beneficial for manufacturing foot orthotic devices, such as wedged insoles, to control medial and lateral compartment forces in the knee varus-valgus deformity. Further studies of the effects of wedged insole angle on knee varus torque in patients with medial-lateral knee osteoarthritis are needed.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the anti-allergy activities of persimmon leaf extract (PLE) on a phthalic anhydride (PA)-induced allergic mouse model. A human leukemic mast cell line (HMC-1) was used to examine the inhibitory activity of PLE on the histamine release by human leukemic mast cells. PLE inhibited histamine release from HMC-1 cells in response to cross-linkage of high-affinity IgE receptor-${\alpha}$ ($Fc{\varepsilon}RI{\alpha}$). Additionally, a PA-induced allergic mouse model was used to investigate the effects of PLE in vivo. Mice were orally administrated with or without PLE of single dose (250 mg/kg/day) for 31 days. Oral intake of PLE significantly inhibited passive cutaneous reactions. Oral administration of PLE to PA-induced allergic mice also led to a striking suppression of the development of contact dermatitis, ear swelling and lymph node weight. In addition, PA-specific IL-4 production of draining lymph node cells was markedly diminished by PLE oral administration, but not IFN-${\gamma}$. Furthermore, PLE treatment suppressed PA-induced thymus and activation-regulated chemokine (CCL17) and cutaneous T cell-attracting chemokine (CCL27) expressions in ear tissues. Based on these results, we suggest that PLE may have therapeutic potential as an effective material for management of irritant contact dermatitis or related inflammatory diseases.
