We have developed a new energy-consuming monitoring system that has made it possible to measure the energy consumption of a gas scrubber, one of semiconductor processing equipments, and installed this system to the gas scrubber under operating at a manufacture site. Using this system, we have measured consumptions of electric power and processing gas consumed at standby to operating mode. In case of the gas scrubber, processing gas flows continuously into it at standby and operating mode. Therefore, if the electric power has been supplied, the processing gas can flows into the device for 24 hours. Moreover, at operating of gas scrubber, the amount of electricity consumption is 5 kWh. At Standby of gas scrubber, it spends 3kwh. It is certain that the energy consumption is greater at operating mode than at standby mode. The carbon emission rates from 24 hour gas scrubber operation are 236 $kgCO_2$/day of $N_2$, 57 $kgCO_2$/day of electric power and 0.001 $kgCO_2$/day of cooling water. Most of carbon is emitted from $N_2$ gas and electric power consumption.

Recently the number of IT equipment have increased. It consumes large amounts of energy and is emissions of greenhouse gases. Co2 emissions with the PC and the monitor has the highest percentage to 39% more than other IT equipment. In addition, Plan for your PC's power management and technology development is being pursued in developed countries. To reduce energy costs of organizations with large numbers of the PC and to cut down on Co2 emissions, the energy load control technology of ACPI standards-based PC IS suggested. AMI-based PC power-management system was constructed, Approximately 20% of operating a result of the test power consumption was reduced. Looking at the case of the United States, PC monitors from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh was Sleep mode. As a result, the monitor on a, $ 20 for a year reduced energy costs. In GE(General Electronic), Approximately 75,000 PC's power setting time was Monitor Off :15 minutes/ Hard Drives Off 30 minutes/ System Standby 30 minutes/ Hibernation mode 2 hours. 1 year, electric bill was $ 2.5 million savings and 3 years electric bill was $ 6.5 million savings. Measuring energy usage data, using the measured data, electric energy management technology is not. Platform development to measure energy usage for Individual energy-consuming equipment is urgently required.
This paper considers the problem of revising train departure time to reduce electric power consumption of mass rapid transit (MRT) railways. The motion of a train running between stations is divided into three phases: traction, coasting, and deceleration phases. The traction phase requires high electric power to operate MRT railways. In the coasting phase, the train moves stably by consuming little or no power. The deceleration phase is a braking mode and produces some electric power called regenerated brake power owing to inertia force for the train generated In the traction and coasting phases. The regenerative energy can be used by other accelerating trains within a specific range from the train and thereby the power consumptions of train can be reduced. We developed a mixed integer programming model to solve the problem. To validate the suggested model, a computational experiment was conducted using real data from Korea Metropolitan Subway.
Unlike the hydraulic power steering (HPS) system, which operates by the high pressure of a fluid obtained from the engine power, the motor-driven power steering (MDPS) system uses an electric motor to steer the wheel without consuming engine power. To steer the wheel with an electric motor, a worm wheel and a worm gear rotating between the steering shaft and motor are required. Any imperfection during the construction of an MDPS system or in a composing part creates noise and vibration, which can be sensed by a driver. To solve the noise and vibration problems, each part must be designed to not resonate with other parts. In this work, we developed the measurement and analysis systems to obtain the noise and the vibration of an automobile MDPS system. A signal analyzer was equipped with a 96 kHz, 24-bit ADC and a 150 MHz digital signal processor. The predetermined threshold value of the vibration in the MDPS system was used to determine the pass/fail, and the results were displayed on the screen. Our system can be used in the fabrication line to swiftly determine any imperfections in the MDPS system construction.

Conventional film radiographic test has been generally and widely used in the inspection on the weldment for quality assurance. On the other hand, since the analog RT is well known for typical time and cost consuming method with complex process of inspection, the industry has researched various ways how to improve radiographic test technology. In this study, we verified the fact that digital RT provides a lot more benefit in effectively detecting defects, ever film details, through digital processing of image enhancement, compared to film RT. As a result, we reached conclusion that digital RT is positively able to replace the film RT in industry in part or in whole.

Since the electricity is produced and consumed simultaneously, predicting the electric load and securing affordable electric power are necessary for reliable electric power supply. In particular, a university campus is one of the highest power consuming institutions and tends to have a wide variation of electric load depending on time and environment. For these reasons, an accurate electric load forecasting method that can predict power consumption in real-time is required for efficient power supply and management. Even though various influencing factors of power consumption have been discovered for the educational institutions by analyzing power consumption patterns and usage cases, further studies are required for the quantitative prediction of electric load. In this paper, we build an electric load forecasting model by implementing and evaluating various machine learning algorithms. To do that, we consider three building clusters in a campus and collect their power consumption every 15 minutes for more than one year. In the preprocessing, features are represented by considering periodic characteristic of the data and principal component analysis is performed for the features. In order to train the electric load forecasting model, we employ both artificial neural network and support vector machine. We evaluate the prediction performance of each forecasting model by 5-fold cross-validation and compare the prediction result to real electric load.

In many case of optimal design and sensitivity analysis, obtaining of transfer function between input and output variables is a difficult and time-consuming problem. The bond graph modeling is a method that is used for making it easy to analyze complex systems composed of mechanical and electrical parts. It gives us a simple and systematic tool to get state-space equations easily. And we can obtain the transfer function graphically using bond graph and Mason's rule. This paper shows how bond graphs are converted to block diagram and how Mason's rule is applied. And the simple direct method to obtain transfer function from bond graph is introduced. As a example, induction of transfer function of electric power steering composed of mechanical and electrical parts will be done.

It is expected that, in the future, DC power service will be widely used for photovoltaic home power generation systems, since DC consuming devices are ever increasing. Instead of using multiple converters to convert DC to AC and then AC to DC, the power service could solely be based on DC. This would eliminate the need for converters, reducing the cost, complexity, and possibly increasing the efficiency. However, configuration of direct DC power service with mechanical contacts can cause spark voltage or an electric shock when the switch is turned on and off. To solve these problems, in this paper, a contactless power supply for a DC power service that can transfer electric power produced by photovoltaics to the home electric system using magnetic coupling instead of mechanical contacts has been proposed. The proposed system consists of a ZVS boost converter, a half-bridge LLC resonant converter, and a contactless transformer. This proposed contactless system eliminates the use of DC switches. To reduce the stress and loss of the boost converter switching devices, a lossless snubber with coupled inductor is applied. In this paper, a switching frequency control technique using the contactless voltage sensing circuit is also proposed and implemented for the output voltage control instead of using additional power regulators. Finally, a prototype consisted of 150W boost converter has been designed and built to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed contactless photovoltaic DC power service. Experimental results show that 74~83% overall system efficiency is obtained for the 10W~80W load.

The procedure for the determination of the residual life of the pressurizer surge line nozzle in the nuclear plant is developed. The design fatigue life for the 1800 $ft^3$ pressurizer surge line nozzle in cast head design is compared with that of Westinghouse stress report, and the percentage difference between two results is less than 9%. The design fatigue life evaluation of the 1000 $ft^3$ pressurizer surge line nozzle in fabricated head design is carried out, and the consuming rate and residual life are estimated using the operating data.

Dynamic simulation is critical for electrical ship studies as it obtains the necessary information to capture and characterize system performance over the range of system operations and dynamic events such as disturbances or contingencies. However, modeling and simulation of the interactive electrical and mechanical dynamics involves setting up and solving system equations in time-domain that is typically time consuming and computationally expensive. Accurate assessment of system dynamic behaviors of interest without excessive computational overhead has become a serious concern and challenge for practical application of electrical ship design, analysis, optimization and control. This paper aims to develop a systematic approach to classify the sophisticated dynamic phenomenon encountered in electrical ship modeling and simulation practices based on the design intention and the time scale of interest. Then a novel, comprehensive, coherent, and end-to-end mathematical modeling and simulation approach has been developed for the latest Medium Voltage Direct Current (MVDC) Shipboard Power System (SPS) with the objective to effectively and efficiently capture the system behavior for ship-wide system-level studies. The accuracy and computation efficiency of the proposed approach has been evaluated and validated within the time frame of interest in the cast studies. The significance and the potential application of the proposed modeling and simulation approach are also discussed.
