Information Searching Behavior for Medical Institutions of Spine Patients and Searching Outcomes (척추질환자의 의료기관 정보탐색행태와 탐색성과)

  • Background: Information asymmetry between physicians and patients is one of the most unique characteristics of health care. But as consumerism spreads in health care sector, health care consumers are searching comparative information about quality and cost of providers from many information sources. Providing comparative information to health care consumers not only makes consumers choose hospital rationally, but also invigorates the health care market by providers' competition. However there are few studies regarding information searching behavior of health care consumers, then this study is carried out. Methods: The purpose of this study is to understand the information searching behavior of health care consumers based on their characteristics and the types of medical institutions. For this purpose, 313 spinal patients' data of 11 medical institutions (university hospital, spine specialized hospital, clinic) located in Seoul were collected by self-administered surveys. Results: The results of this study are as follows: 1) t-test/analysis of variance analysis showed that according to various characteristics of health care consumers and the types of medical institutions, the level of information searching of each source and the amount of information searching and searching outcomes are statistically different. 2) Regression analysis showed that influence on searching outcomes are statistically different according to the level of information searching of each source and searching content and the amount of information searching has positive effects on searching outcomes. Conclusion: The significance of this study is to provide empirical basis for establishment of health care policy reflecting information needs and preference of health care consumers.

  • The Purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of the country image and brand image of product on Chinese consumers' brand attitude and the purchasing behavior. The results of this research are wrapped up as follows : First, the original country image of product is positive related to the product brand image itself. Second, both the country image and brand image of product have positive influences on consumers' brand attitude. Third, Chinese consumers' brand attitude has positive influences on purchasing behavior. Forth, both the country image and brand image of product have positive influences on consumers' purchasing behavior.

The Study on Women's Responses to Discounting claims and Complaining Behavior in Clothing Products (여성의 의류제품 할인구메에 대한 반응과 불평헹동 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the purchase behavior, response, and complaining behavior for discounting claims in clothing products. The subjects are composed of 360 female consumers. Data were collected through questionnaire. Descriptive analysis was used for analysis of this study. The findings of this study were as follows: First, female consumer used department store for buying discount apparel products the most. The percentage of buying casual or sports wear for discounting was the most. Most consumers purchased clothing products when discounting at 20-40 percentages. Second, even if, consumers tended to distrust discounting claims, they were satisfied with discount apparel products. Especially, they were satisfied with price, design, color, and size, while they were dissatisfied with sewing and fabric in discount products. Third, most consumer knew the knowledge of consumer rights, but most dissatisfied consumers did not assert positive consumer's right. Therefore, marketer should increase the accessibility of their complaint receiving mechanism for dissatisfied consumers in retail environment.

The Extended S-O-R Model Investigating Consumer Impulse Buying Behavior in Online Shopping: A Meta-Analysis

  • Purpose: The online distribution channel has attracted the attention of retailers by potential impact on consumers' purchase intention. The objectives of this study are to provide an insight into how to encourage consumers' impulse buying behavior on commercial website as well as attempts to reveal factors that influence consumers' impulsive buying behavior in the online shopping environment. Research design, data and methodology: The research framework is based on the stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) framework. The Meta-analysis method carried out the research, gathering data from 37 published studies. Results: The research findings suggest that intrinsic motivations such as perceived ease of use, perceived enjoyment, and online flow experience play a significant role in boosting consumers' hedonic value when buying and online. In addition, these findings help online retailers use appropriate marketing stimuli such as offering pricing incentives, promotion tactics, and improved communication effectiveness. Also, obtaining a better grasp of how to build a website to improve the consumer experience generally helps consumers feel the urge to buy impulsively and act without hesitation. Conclusions: This research confirms a direct positive relationship between marketing stimuli and hedonic shopping value, which may support an applied theoretical framework for future research and provide managerial implications for retailers in online distribution channels.

A Study on Eating-out Behavior by Cluster Analysis according to The Lifestyle of Female Consumers in Seoul (서울시 여성 소비자의 라이프스타일에 따른 군집분석과 외식행동에 대한 연구)

  • The objective of this study was to use cluster analysis to determine differences in eating-out behavior among grouped clusters of female consumers after each cluster was divided based on lifestyle patterns. The data were collected by interview survey from a biased sample of 1,300 females, ranging from ages 20 to 59, and living in residential districts of Seoul. Reliability analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, cross-tabulation analysis, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were applied to the data. Four lifestyle factors were extracted by lower-division and classified as follows: health condition, consuming, food, and housing lifestyles. Based on these four factors, the female consumers were grouped as three clusters: the consuming-individuality type, rational-pursuit type, and conservative-stability type. The eating-out behavior of each cluster was significantly different in terms of frequency of eating-out, eating-out expenditures, restaurant selection criteria, food preferences, and the purpose for eating-out. Since this study surveyed females from ages 20 to 59, age and demographics were the differential factors in determining the various lifestyle types. Thus, to target the consumers who form a target market, the food industry should consider market segmentation that combines demographic factors such as age, income, and marital status.

Awareness, attitude, and behavior of global and Korean consumers towards vegan fashion consumption - A social big data analysis -

  • This study utilizes social big data to investigate the factors influencing the awareness, attitude, and behavior toward vegan fashion consumption among global and Korean consumers. Social media posts containing the keyword "vegan fashion" were gathered, and meaningful discourse patterns were identified using semantic network analysis and sentiment analysis. The study revealed that diverse factors guide the purchase of vegan fashion products within global consumer groups, while among Korean consumers, the predominant discourse involved the concepts of veganism and ethics, indicating a heightened awareness of vegan fashion. The research then delved into the factors underpinning awareness (comprehension of animal exploitation, environmental concerns, and alternative materials), attitudes (both positive and negative), and behaviors (exploration, rejection, advocacy, purchase decisions, recommendations, utilization, and disposal). Global consumers placed great significance on product-related information, whereas Korean consumers prioritized ethical integrity and reasonable pricing. In addition, environmental issues stemming from synthetic fibers emerged as a significant factor influencing the awareness, attitude, and behavior regarding vegan fashion consumption. Further, this study confirmed the potential presence of cultural disparities influencing overall awareness, attitude, and behavior concerning the acceptance of vegan fashion, and offers insights into vegan fashion marketing strategies tailored to specific cultures, aiming to provide vegan fashion companies and brands with a deeper understanding of their consumer base.

Challenge of Understanding Multichannel Customer Behavior in 21st Century: A Meta-analysis

  • The purposes of this study are to provide comprehensive reviews on multichannel consumer behaviors published in peer-reviewed academic journals from 2005 to 2014, to develop a conceptual framework that demonstrates multichannel determinants such as psychographics, demographics, social influences, and situational factors on consumers' search and purchase behavior based on customers' profits or costs judgment, and to provide possible direction for future research in multichannel consumer behavior. Three steps were taken in the process of analyzing consumers' channel determinants presented in the 37 studies, and 12 most frequently used factors that appear in the studies were extracted. These factors include convenience, service, trust/risk, saving money, product knowledge, experience, efficacy/usefulness, involvement, shopping environment/situation factors, demographics, product types, and social influence. With 12 determinants of multichannel consumers' search and purchase behavior, a conceptual framework was proposed based on expectancy theory. The directions for future research were also discussed.

Consumer Values and Green Consumption: Implications for Marketing Strategy and Environmental Policy

  • The objective of this study is to find the effects of consumer values on eco-friendly buying behavior. This study examines environmental attitudes and involvement as moderating variables to explain eco-friendly buying behavior of consumers. Hypotheses were developed based on Focus Group Interviews, Depth Interviews, and literature reviews. To test such hypotheses, questionnaires were distributed and collected among female adults aged 18 or above, and who are either office workers or housewives. The analysis results show that personal values, sociocultural values, and values related to ecofriendly products affect consumers in their eco-friendly buying behavior. Among those values, concern about safety and health, eco-friendly culture and trend, willingness to pay price premiums and functional effects of eco-friendly products have significant effects on eco-friendly buying behavior. Reflecting these results, business marketers must appeal to consumers with more focus on safety and health, perceived consumer effectiveness, self-monitoring, eco-friendly culture and trend, media exposure, willingness to pay price premiums, design excellence and functional effects, to implement marketing communication strategies accordingly.

An Effect of Consumers' Types of Buying Behavior Values and Types of Price Discount on Product Attitude (소비자들의 구매행위 가치관 유형과 제품의 가격할인 유형이 제품태도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined whether there is difference in consumers' product attitude according to the type of buying behavior values and the type of price discount among their lifestyle. First, the factors of values comprising consumers' buying behavior were derived as frugal buying, impulse buying, quality buying, and principle buying. Cluster analysis showed that the types of buying behavior value included high quality impulse buying, reasonable buying and practical buying. Second, it was found that there were differences in product attitude according to the type of consumers' buying behavior values. Third, interaction effect was found between the type of price discount and consumers' product attitude according to the type of buying behavior values. Fourth, among the factors of value comprising consumers' buying behavior, frugal buying factor has an effect on the product attitude with price discount of 50% and quality buying and impulse buying factors have an effect on the product attitude with bundle price discount (1+1). The above mentioned result of study suggests that when a company establishes a strategy of price discount, it should consider sales promotion strategy taking account of consumers' buying behavior values and type of product price discount.

A study on the factors influencing switching behavior to and satisfaction with home shopping mobile apps (홈쇼핑 모바일앱 전환 및 만족도 영향 요인 연구)

  • This study aimed to investigate the influence of consumers' innovativeness, perceived benefits of home shopping mobile apps, and satisfaction with telephone orders on switching to and satisfaction with such apps (for those who have used these apps). This study also investigated the influence of the aforementioned factors on the intention to switch to home shopping mobile apps (for those who have not used these apps). Data were collected from 546 customers ranging in age from 18 to 59 with experience purchasing fashion goods from home shopping networks, and 502 of the questionnaires were used in the statistical analyses. Structure equation models were employed using AMOS 23.0. The results were as follows: for consumers experienced with home shopping mobile apps, their innovativeness and perceived benefits of such apps (convenience, usefulness) influenced their switching behavior. Additionally, consumers' innovativeness and perceived benefits of these apps (usefulness, accessibility, interactiveness) affected their satisfaction with the apps. For those not experienced with home shopping mobile apps, consumers' innovativeness and perceived benefits of the apps (interactiveness, security, enjoyment) influenced their intention to switch to these apps. These results indicate that different strategies should be developed for home shopping consumers experienced and inexperienced with these apps for the improvement of app satisfaction.
