The study was conducted to examine consumers' awareness and perceptions on forest certification and their willingness to buy and pay price premium for certified wood products especially for selected four wood products. A total of 136 residents in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province were interviewed in the autumn of 2008. Although only 24.3 percent of the consumers are aware of forest certification, 82.4 percent of the respondents recognized the need and significance of forest certification. In general, 77.2 percent of the respondents were willing to buy certified wood products. Majority of the respondents, 84 out of 136 respondents (61.8%) expressed their willingness to pay (WTP) from more than 0 percent to less than 10 percent. Consumers' average WTP for certified wood products was estimated to be 5.6 percent. From the results of the study, lower priced wood products, such as copier paper (WTP=9.8%) and wood frame (WTP=11.6%), have higher price premiums than high priced products, such as wood table (WTP=6.8%) and wood flooring (WTP=7.6%). In conclusion, there could be feasible markets for certified wood products in South Korea as four out of five consumer are willing to pay more for such products. For the forest certification system to be adopted and widely accepted, the perceptions of forest stakeholders including consumers should be further increased.
The purposes of this study were to categorize female consumers based on appearance satisfaction and to examine the differences among the categorized groups on appearance types and appearance perceptions (appearance interest, stress related to appearance, and the extent of cosmetics use). A total of 518 responses collected from a questionnaire survey to female consumers was analyzed. Cluster analysis on appearance satisfaction identified four groups including the types of: Feature satisfaction(32%); Skin satisfaction(31%); Dissatisfaction(19%); and Overall satisfaction(16%). Chi-square and ANOVA analyses revealed significant differences among the four groups on the 6 appearance types (face line, face size, skin tone, skin blemish, skin elasticity, and wrinkles) and the stress related to appearance.
The purposes of this study were to examine effects of individual's ethics on corporation ethics and corporation ethics management and perception for corporation ethics management innovation system, and to compare consumers' and entrepreneurs' perceptions toward innovation system for ethics management in fashion industry. The subject used for this study were 260 subjects (117 consumer and 143 entrepreneurs). For data analysis, descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlations, Cronbach's alpha, regression, and t-test were used. As the results, first, ethic values on idealism and machiavellism significantly influenced on the business ethics. Business ethics also affected on business ethics management. In addition, business ethics management influenced on perception for ethics management innovation system. Finally, there were significant differences between consumers and entrepeneurs on perceptions toward innovation system for ethics management. Based on these results, prevention marketing strategies of counterfeit goods would be provided.
The main purpose of this exploratory research was to examine the characteristics of consumers who patronize natural-dyed clothes and their perceptions regarding natural-dyed clothes. Thirty three participants who have worn natural-dyed clothes were interviewed for the study. They were asked about the styles and price of natural-dyed clothes they owned, their evaluation on them, and the lifestyles of themselves. Existence of subculture among the interviewes and its characteristics were also probed. The results indicated that natural-dyed clothes are relatively high-priced, mostly of modified hanbok style, and became popular in recent years. Interviewees frequently mentioned uniqueness and comfort as the main benefits of natural-dyed clothes, and expressed dissatisfaction regarding color fastness, easy care and problem of coordination. The consumers of natural-dyed clothes appeared to have strong preferences for environment conservation and Korean traditional culture. They also seemed to form a subcultural group who have commonality in their involvement in Korean cultural activities, mainly tea ceremony.
In retailing, it is very important to examine how consumers perceive and react to in-store design factors such as in-store space for walking, product arrangement styles, display types, and window sizes. Furthermore, consumers' perceptions to the various designs would be differentiated by consumers' shopping patterns such as actual shopping versus window shopping. This article investigates how various designs create different consumer reactions measured by consumer mood and store image depending on the types of consumer shopping (i.e. actual shopping vs. window shopping). It was found that design factors such as open, focused, and big created better consumer mood and consumer perception of store image than closed, unfocused, and small. Another finding is that consumer perceptions interact with consumer shopping patterns. Based on the research findings, managerial implications are also discussed
This paper attempts to incorporate three important factors-perceptions, behavior and valuation-in analysing consumers' responses to health risks from environmental pollutants. Using a survey sample of 500 consumers in the Chonbuk province area, this paper empirically investigated determinants of risk perceptions from using tap water as drinking water. Most consumers were considerably concerned about health risks from drinking tap water. Moreover, those subjective concerns were not random, but were systematically related to individuals' demographic variables such as age, gender, and family size. Those subjective beliefs also influenced respondents' purchase intentions on safer water bottles, in response to a contingent behavior question of presenting two types of water bottles. The technical risk information provided in the survey had significant effects on purchase intentions only when it was interacted with respondents' actual averting practice. In addition, the sample selection effects were present by eliminating respondents who decided not to purchase either of two types of water bottles. The potential selection bias had impacts on the coefficients of the price difference variable, and subsequently the estimates of the price increments for health risk reductions.
The purposes of this study were to determine what factors influence risk perceptions of females and males for milk produced using food-related biotechnology, to test whether risk perceptions or other factors influence self-protection actions and to estimate milk demand response in light of self-protection actions and other economic and demographic factors. The expected utility model was applied to explain the way consumers would take self-protection actions regarding risk perceptions and to drive milk demand. Telephone interviews were conducted and the data were collected from households(females=1,029, males=437) nationwide in the U.S. And the data were analyzed by Heckman two-step method using the software package LIMDEP. Risk perceptions were found to be influenced not by demographic factors but by outrage factors as well as attitudinal factors in both females and males, although some factors were different. In addition, risk perceptions and labeling availability were found to significantly influence self-protection actions in both groups. Furthermore, as an important concern in this study, self-protection action was found to significantly influence milk demand in only male group, implying a consistent behavior of males. Also milk price and household size were found to significantly influence milk demand in both groups. In fact, the results did demonstrate that labeling availability significantly influenced self-protection actions. That is, in markets where labeled laternatives were present, concerned consumers were more likely to self protect by substituting to these products. A policy implication of this result is that labeling food products produced using biotechnology enhances consumer choice. Hence, consumer could express a more accurate demand response and reduce the perceived food safety risk. Furthermore, education for females might be necessary to have a consistent behavior because self-protection action did not significantly influence female's milk demand, though they have greater risk perceptions than males have.

The paper investigates the antecedents of Organic Food (OF) produce in Vietnam and the intentions and behavior of OF purchasers. A theoretical framework is developed and evaluated by simulation of the structural model. Data was collected from a convenient sample of 222 consumers from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. The selection included 159 (72%) women, who were identified as being the primary buyers of organic food for their family (73%). Findings suggest food hygiene issues and conscientious self-identity as the much beneficial determinants of organic production perceptions. Because of the results in this report, the consideration for food security has gained little research consideration throughout the field of organic produce. Food safety concerns are also related to academics exploring consumer confidence as they might be regarded as one of their aspects in selecting standard, natural or health food products. Findings suggest food security as one of the essential determinants of motivation, while health awareness purports to become the least significant motivation, contrary to observations from certain previous studies. However, it is observed that moral personality-identity influences both perceptions and willingness to buy organic food, stressing that the association of participants with ethical concerns influences their perceptions and eventual choices of consumption.

This study (1) explores female consumers' attitudes toward fat people and perceptions about plus-size models, (2) addresses female consumers' responses to models with different body sizes, and (3) examines the effect of plus-size model presence on female consumers' body image. We collected an online questionnaire from a total of 600 female participants in their 20's and 30's. Stimuli included six full-colored photo images of models with thin and plus body sizes (three in each group). Images were captured from the online shopping site of the fashion brand currently providing both average and plus-size clothes. Respondents were randomly assigned one of the groups by model size. Results support the sociocultural perspective that a thin/ideal body of models has a negative influence on female viewers' sociocultural attitudes toward appearance, mood state and body satisfaction. Findings also suggest that exposure to plus-size models can reduce negative media effects on females body image perceptions, regardless of individual body size.
This study explored the determinant variables influence of Chinese consumers' purchase intention towards products featured in Korean TV dramas vis-$\grave{a}$-vis product placement (PPL). We invited 248 Chinese adult consumers who had watched Korean TV dramas in last twelve months to participate in this survey. Data analyses were conducted by Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ reliability test, confirmatory factor analysis, t -test, analysis of variance and hierarchical multiple regression with SPSS ver. 21.0 and AMOS ver. 21.0. We chose PPL effects, product quality perceptions, and product trust as main independent variables. The empirical analysis results demonstrate that female (versus male) and frequency of (or longer time) watching dramas resulted in higher perceived consumer PPL effects, product quality, trust and purchase intention. The positive effects of the product quality and product trust on purchase intentions were confirmed. There are additional mediation effects of product quality perceptions and trust on the relationship between consumer demographic characteristics (gender), TV drama watching conditions (frequency and time) and purchase intention. This research can help Korean corporations produce effective advertising by indicating how PPL affects Chinese consumer consumption behavior. The results are useful for the Chinese government and consumer organizations to improve the domestic consumption environment by developing effective TV drama PPL policies.
