The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between social perception reflected in product advertisement and consumerism toward commodification of sex among college students. Subjects of this study were 1,100 college students in the Daegu metropolitan areas. Social perceptions were assessed by questions such as attitudes toward beauty contests, degree of commodification of sex in product advertisements and buying patterns. Consumerism was assessed by the Korean Featherstone version of consumer culture. Major findings of this study were as follows: a significant difference in the social perception of commodification of sex was found between male and female college students, showing that female students were more negative toward commodification of sex than male students. Higher scores were found for consumerism when subjects had higher perceptions for commodification of sex. Hence, the degree of commodification of sex was positively related to the degree of consumerism. In conclusion, consumerism enforced commodification of sex among college students, resulting negative effects on the sex culture in general.
As social work practice for the disabled is still centered in provider's perspective in Korea, this study started with concerns for consumerism that is emerging as an alternative for the social work practice for the disabled. Consumerism is rooted in organization process of the disability rights movement, and considered as an ideology that protects actively the rights and influence of consumers. However, consumerism is not operating as an accomplished ideology yet, but as a type of the practical discourse. Consumerism is interpreted in multiaxial meanings and the conscituents of consumerism is used ambiguously in practice. This is because theoretical reviews on the conceptual thinking of consumerism are scant and empirical inquiries into conceptual cognition of social workers who uses this concept as a professional are scarce. After analyzing the data using Q methodology, the result shows that social workers' major cognitive types on consumerism perspective consists of four types; Empowerment type, Market-mechanism type, Multi-opening type and Traditional-value type. These types are classified by the dimension of 'specific/extended', 'traditional/reformative' and 'instrumental/autotelic'. This result will attribute to develop consumer-intimate policy, practice program and professional training program and to give facilities for lucid communication among policy, practice field, theory and movement in social welfare for disabled as it materializes the explicit conception of consumerism that is understood ambiguously in Korea.

And green consumerism negatively affects consumption attitude for fast fashion products. Second, consumption propensity such as donation & sharing consumerism, ethical consumerism, green consumerism, histrionics, and imitative nature in descending order positively affect consumption attitude for slow fashion products. Third, slow and fast fashion products consumption attitude in descending order positively affect purchase intention on fair trade fashion products. Therefore fair trade fashion products with various usages and sustainable high quality are promoted by differentiated marketing strategies.
Most consumers have experienced unexpected consumer problems in the new consumption environment. Accordingly consumer education is very important to prevent consumer problems in advance. Adult consumers don't have many chances to take consumer education with various reasons though they are in a core position in the economy. This study developed an on-line consumer education program for adults in consumerism in the website, www.bestmaker.com/cw. The contents of consumerism were divided into five subfields such as consumer rights, responsibility and roles; consumer law; consumer participation; consumer protection; on-line survey. The on-line consumer education program was given to 164 adult consumers who could use internet, and the contents and the methods of the consumer education were evaluated by the same consumers with an on-line survey. The results of the survey show that those in 30's through 40's and with higher education are more satisfied with the contents and the methods of the on-line consumer education. This study implies that the contents, the methods, and the design of an on-line consumer education need to be consistent each other and well organized altogether.
Purpose - This study verifies the relationship of the authenticity and the fit of CSV activities on brand equity, brand attitude, and purchase intention. The moderating effect by the ethical consumerism was also verified. Research design, data, and methodology - In order to carry out the purpose of this study, 388 survey data were used. Statistic programs, SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 20.0 were used to analyze the data. Results - It was found that the authenticity and the fit of CSV activities had a positive effect on brand equity. However, the fit of CSV activities did not have any positive effect on brand attitude directly. To bring out the optimal brand attitude and purchasing intention from operating the CSV activities, the corporation must recognize the consumers who possess high ethical consumerism and perform suitable marketing strategies. Conclusions - The results of this study show that when establishing positive brand attitude by operating CSV activities, the corporation must put an effort to show the authenticity of the activity. Additionally, to establish brand equity, brand attitude and purchasing intention, corporation must recognize the consumers with high/low ethical consumerism in order to bring out the optimal brand attitude and purchasing intention by operating the CSV activities.

This essay investigates how the industrialization of the US food system was closely linked to US foreign policy, gender issues, and the rise of consumerism in the Cold War era. While many scholars in American studies and women's studies over the past few decades have paid increasing attention to the interrelationship of gender politics and the media industry in shaping US domesticity, they have seldom studied how and why reading gender issues in relation to environmental discourse in general and the industrialized US food system in particular can help us better understand the complex relationship between environmental and social problems that we are facing today, both collectively and individually. In this context, this essay shows how US national politics have not only created the ideal of American domesticity that promotes traditional gender roles and consumerism at the expense of gender equality, but also negatively affected women's somatic and mental health writ large. By closely examining the cultural implications of Nixon's and Khrushchev's Kitchen Debate in the 1950s alongside newspapers, photographs, advertisements, and Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar (1963), I argue that reading Cold War consumer culture in relation to the US food system leads readers to see the invisible links between gender politics and today's environmental and social problems in comparative and global contexts.
This study analyzed domestic consumers' perceptions of and participation in consumer boycotts and its relation to ethical consumerism by surveying 1,000 people aged 20 or more with an on-line questionnaire. Collected data were analyzed in terms of frequency, factor analyses, cluster analysis, ${\chi}^2$, and one-way analysis of variance. The research findings are summarized as follows. First, consumers had an average (or higher) perception level of consumer boycotts and were categorized into consumer boycott groups of pursuit of self-realization, achievement of results, and pursuit of rationality according to perception patterns of consumer boycotts. Second, the consumer boycott group of self-realization exhibited a high intention for participation in economic and ethical consumer boycotts and was active in all aspects compared to other groups; in addition, the consumer boycott group of results achievement was in the lowest level of ethical consumerism with a low intention for participation in consumer boycotts and ethical consumer boycotts along with the lowest perception level for consumer boycotts as ethical consumption. The consumer boycott group of rational pursuit was comparatively skeptical about the influence of consumer boycotts and with a low level of deontological ethical consumerism. They had additional doubts about the effectiveness of consumer boycotts despite being active participants. The study contributes to the establishment of an ethical consumer behavior theory by investigating connections between the perception patterns of and participation in consumer boycotts as well as ethical consumerism as consumer boycotts conceptually expand as a form of ethical consumption.
This paper was designated to review consumer complaining in the context of consumerism . For the purpose of this study, the literature in the consumer satisfaction/ dissatisfaction, complaining and noncomplaining behavior was reviewed. A conceptual approach to understanding why consumers complain or not when the dissatisfied was presented. It was suggested that regardless of how dissatisfied a consumer is , an action is taken or forgone only after the costs and benefits of the various alternative are considered and an assessment of the probabilities of success are made. It was suggested that aroused citizens through consumer education, government agency's effort to reduce the consumer's dissatisfaction and seller's marketing strategy in the view of consumerism are three main propositions for the enhancement of the consumer's quality of life in this study. Consumer complaining must be made in virtue of national economic systems( standard of living and the effectiveness of its marketing system, extent of government control and provision of consumer assistances) to achieve high levels of efficiency. Besides national economic systems. the third parties must be promoted for the efficient consumer complaining.
