Compressibility and Permeability Characteristics of Bentonite-Soil/Sand Mixes (벤토나이트-흙/모래 혼합토의 압축 및 투수 특성 연구)

  • Compressibility and permeability properties are the most important input parameters necessary to assess the suitability of core materials in seepage control system construction. To achieve this objective, an experimental investigation was conducted in the laboratory. For the bentonite-soil/sand mixes, consolidation and permeability tests were carried out in the conventional consolidation cell, 6Omm in diameter and 2Omm in height, was modified to perform a falling head type permeability test. From the results, the normalized relationship with respect to void ratio at liquid-limit state $(e_L)$, and the changes of compressibility and permeability for various bentonite-soil/sand mixes were presented. This approach will be helpful in proportioning mixes and predicting corresponding changes in engineering behavior. And it is possible to proportion a mix to arrive at the required compressibility without affecting the permeability.

  • This paper describes for applications of neural networks in the field of arc welding. Conventional, automated process generally involves sophisticated sensing and control techniques applied to various processing parameters. Welding parameters affecting quality include the arc voltage, the welding current and the torch travel speed. The relationship between the welding parameters and weld quality is not a direct one, and in addition, the effect of the weld parameter variables are not independent of the each other - changing the welding current will affect the arc voltage, and so on. Finally, a suitable proposal to improve the construction of the model has also been presented in the paper.

Deploying a Wireless Sensor Network for Oceanography using ZigBee

  • We recently developed new offshore observation system using USN buoy, widely used to measure the directional properties of ocean wave, seawater temperature, UV light, longitude and latitude of the buoy using GPS module. This paper also documents the development and implementation of a buoy network for acquisition of data of base station with buoys. The major phases of the project include specification of the network, physical construction of network nodes, software development for control of nodes, and testing of network performance. We described some of the practical issues involved in designing, building and deploying a buoy network for oceanographic monitoring. The paper explains some of the design decisions and their consequences, and some of the lessons learned from a first lesson network trial at sea.

  • 현장에서는 주공정과 예산관리를 중심으로 공사진행을 하고, 공정이 90% 이상 달성되었거나 또는 잔여공기가 9개윌 정도 남아 있으면 모든 공정을 재검토하기 바란다. 우선 하청시로부터 잔여 공사에 대한 공정표를 받아, 잔여공시 1개월 전에 준공될 수 있는지 검토한다. 9개월 정도 앞서 준공기일을 검토하는 것은, 자재납기가 장기간(7개월 정도) 소요되는(플랜트 Control Panel 등) 자재의 발주여부를 검토하고, 잔여공기 내에 정상 작업으로 공기 내 준공이 불가하다고 예측될 경우, 3개월 또는 6개월 돌관작업 계획을 세우기 위함이다. 잔여공기가 3개월 정도 남아 있을 때, 시설물을 인계(Hand Over) 하기 위해 본격적인 준비를 한다. 준공이란 "계약적으로 발주자가 실제적으로 계약서에 의도된 목적으로 사용할 수 있는 상태(표준계악일반조건 48. 1)"를 말하므로, 이 점에 착안하여 발주자가 시설물을 제때에 사용하지 못함으로써 발생되는 지체보상금(Liquidated Damage)을 물지 않도록 작전을 세운다.

A Study on Construction of the Advanced Sequential Circuit over Finite Fields

  • In this paper, a method of constructing an advanced sequential circuit over finite fields is proposed. The method proposed an algorithm for assigning all elements of finite fields to digital code from the properties of finite fields, discussed the operating characteristics of T-gate used to construct sequential digital system of finite fields, and based on this, formed sequential circuit without trajectory. For this purpose, the state transition diagram was allocated to the state dependency code and a whole table was drawn showing the relationship between the status function and the current state and the previous state. The following status functions were derived from the status function and the preceding table, and the T-gate and the device were used to construct the sequential circuit. It was confirmed that the proposed method was able to organize sequential digital systems effectively and systematically.

  • Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) offers the advantages of simple and robust motor construction, high speeds and high efficiencies over a wide operating range of torque and speed, excellent controllability. However, SRM has the disadvantages of high current harmonics, and low power factor because of a capacitor filter is inserted in the power converter and inductance of SRM is high, it has pulse waveform of current. This paper deals with an energy efficient converter fed SRM system with the reduced harmonics and improved power factor and with higher efficiency. The validity of the proposed scheme is verified via experiment. We are implemented the proposed control system using 80C196KC micro-controller.

  • In the study for effective speech control we designed a personal computer system with A/D converter in which the speech signal is transformed by digital data displayed graphically on the moniter and with a D/A converter in which the digital data is transformed into speech signal which people can hear. We analyzed the character of the speech signal produced by the system. We designed the adaptive noise cancel algorithm so that noise and Interference are cancelled whenever the speech signal is recognized by the computer system. This is a basic system for artificial Intelligence.

  • This paper deals with the determination of a firing sequence of transitions in the reachability problem of Safe Petri Net. The determination problem of a firing sequence is very important from the point of practical view, especially in the control of the discrete systems modelled by Safe Petri Net. The determination method of a firing sequence of transitions by means of the matrix equation for the discrete systems modelled by Safe Petri Net is proposed. First, a construction method of the indicence matrix and the firing rule for Safe Petri Net with self-loop are presented by defining the permissive arc in place of self-loop. Next, we develop a method that can find the enable transitions of Safe Petri Net by means of the matrix equation of Safe Petri Net. Finally, by using this method, we propose an algorithm that determines the firing sequence of transitions of Safe Petri Net.

  • In this thesis investigate the security gateway that manage authorization for user access dynamically by recognizing automatically and comparison & distinction between database and User-information while a terminal unit(PC) trying to access to the network of subnet. Also, it present User-interfaced authorization allowance role model, so administrator can assign united access control between network level(L2) and application level(L7) in relation to system construction.

  • A new low cost single stage high power factor electronic ballast for fluorescent lamps is presented in this paper. The proposed topology is based on integration of two-boost converter and LC type high frequency resonant converter. A ballast is obtained by simple construction, because full bridge rectifier diode is eliminated and simple control circuits is applied. Using two boost converter operating positive and negative half cycle respectively at line frequency (60Hz), operating in discontinuous conduction mode performs high power factor. The simulated and experimental results for 64W fluorescent lamps operating at 45kHz switching frequency and 110V line voltage have been obtained.
