The present paper investigates about the formation of the logical thinking and the intuitive thinking in mathematical concepts with reference to secondary talented students (students aged 16$\sim$17 years). As a main result, we conclude that their preference between the logical and the intuitive thinking does not related to the distinction of the school level and sex, while their consistence between them relates.

Geophysical survey has been conducted on the continental margin off the South Shetland Islands aboard R/V Onnuri of KORDI in 1992/1993. About 800-line km of 96-channel reflection data have been acquired. On the seismic section, BSR with strong reflectivity and negative polarity has been found at 700 ms below the sea bottom. BSR is considered as the base of gas hydrates and AVO analysis was performed to study physical properties along BSR. True amplitude recovery and surface consistence amplitude were applied to seismic data and angle gathers were obtained. AVO gradient and AVO intercept are calculated on every CDP gather. Section of AVO intercept show strong reflectivity and negative polarity on BSRs and stronger continuity of BSR than stacked section. Cross plot of P-G indicates that the lower layer below BSR is filled with free gas.

When the range of projection angles is limited, tomographic reconstruction suffers from artifacts caused by incomplete data. One can consider a data completion technique, which estimates projection data at unobserved angles using a prior knowledge or mathematical exploration, but the result is often not improved; the improvement by the data completion often undermined by the artifacts by inaccurate estimation, In this paper, we propose an iterative method, which computes projection data at unobserved angles by using the current estimate on the image, links the computed projection data to the observed ones by using the consistence condition of Radon transform, and reconstruct the next estimate on the image by filtered backprojection. The proposed method does not require a prior knowledge on the image, and has much faster approximation rate than the expectation maximization method. The performance of the proposed method was tested through several simulation studies.

Objectives: To evaluate the clinical use of Kupperman's Index, Menopausespecific quality of life questionnaire(MENQOL), Menopause Rating Scale(MRS) by comparison with the Subjective measures of hot flush. Methods: The participants were 107 women (45-60 yr) who were not currently on hormone therapy, and had reached hot flash scores of 10 or higher. The evaluating indexes of this trial are hot flush score, hot flush VAS, Hot flush consistence time, sweating VAS, Kupperman`s Index, Menopause-specific quality of life questionnaire (MENQOL), Menopause Rating Scale(MRS). Results: 1. The hot flush score, hot flush VAS, sweating VAS were significantly correlated with each other, but the Hot flush consistence time with no special relationship was found on Subjective measures of hot flush 2. The Kupperman's Index, Menopause-specific quality of life questionnaire (MENQOL) and Menopause Rating Scale(MRS) were significantly correlated with each other. 3. There was significant correlation between Subjective measures of hot flush and Menopause-specific quality of life questionnaire(MENQOL), Thus Menopausespecific quality of life questionnaire(MENQOL) is considered the most suitable on hot flush related research. Conclusions: There was significant correlation between Subjective measures of hot flush and Menopausal scale, thus the use of various indicators are needed for the assessment of climacteric symptoms.

The stability and the leakage performance of turbo pump unit seals supported by elastic-ring ball bearings are Investigated for the Improvement of onset speed of instability(OSI). The numerical analysis of floating ring seal in consistence with its geometry and operating conditions is executed with detailed comparison of various seal types. The results show that the floating ring seal has superior performance in terms of rotordynamic salability compared to the ocher type seals while it shows slightly inferior leakage performance. To Improve the leakage performance. floating ring seal could be combined with hole Pattern damper or labyrinth seal surface.

Up to date, it is difficult to estimate the consistence of properties on the epoxy liner in service time because an estimation of the long term environment-deterioration with aging has not been processed. In the study, the estimation on epoxy liner is carried by the physical test 7 rounds. There are the elongation the and the crack bridging test in the part of physical tests. An elongation test is carried out with epoxy membrane and a crack bridging test is carried out with specimen painted epoxy on concrete. The subjects of test and estimation are a containment quality system and a fibre-glass reinforced system. The materials of these systems are a Robber added Epoxy, a Silica added Epoxy, and a Fiber reinforced Epoxy. Ensuring the test data, properties of epoxy liner was estimated and the change of properties was predicted on epoxy liners.

In this paper, we introduce the goodness of fit test procedure for lifetime distribution using step stress accelerated lifetime data. Using the nonpapametric estimate of acceleration factor, we prove the strong consistence of empirical distribution function under null hypothesis. The critical vailues of Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Anderson-Darling, Cramer-von Mises statistics are computed when the lifetime distibution is assumed to be exponential and Weibull. The power of test statistics are compared through Monte-Cairo simulation study.

Two mufflers for a large-size sedan are suggested aiming (1) sporty-sound and (2) quiet-sound as well as both satisfying low back-pressure and low manufacturing cost. Transmission loss prediction considering heat and flow may increase the accuracy and reduce the development cost in muffler design; thus, GT-power prediction considering heat, flow, and acoustics is utilized. By understanding the fundamentals of flow-acoustic theory in small orifice(hole), an effective muffler design concept is proposed. Vehicle tests show the consistence with predictions for sound; also a back-pressure test bench confirms the advantage in pressure drop for both suggested mufflers. Those suggested mufflers also have advantages in manufacturing cost due to simplicity of the design.
