서울지역 안경광학과 재학생 집단의 안경원 쇼윈도 디스플레이 유형에 대한 감성 의미 설문 조사 (A Questionnaire Study of Connotative Meanings of the Show Window Display Types in Optical Shops of Optometry Students in Seoul)

  • 목적: 안경원의 쇼윈도 디스플레이 유형에 따른 소비자 집단의 감성 의미를 객관적으로 분석하여 마케팅에 적합한 디스플레이 유형을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 서울지역 안경광학과 재학생 집단을 대상으로 연구를 실시하였다. 국내 안경원의 쇼윈도 디스플레이 예제들을 수집하여 대표적 유형을 도출하였다. 의미분별 척도법을 이용하여 감성 의미를 추출한 후에, 설문조사와 통계처리를 통하여 각각의 디스플레이 유형별로 해당되는 감성 의미를 결정하였다. 결과: 설문응답자들은 개방형, 소량형, 대량형 및 광고형의 4가지 대표적 쇼윈도 디스플레이 유형별로 각각 깨끗하고 심플함, 고급스럽고 심플함, 서민적이고 실용적이라는 감성 의미를 주로 선택하였다. 결론: 도출된 감성 의미들과 응답자들의 선호도를 분석했을 때, 대학생 집단에게 가장 적합한 디스플레이 유형은 소량형인 것으로 여겨진다.

한국노인의 식품에 대한 개념 연구 (A study on connotative meaning of foods to elderly Korean)

  • This study was designed to investigate and quantify components of the connotative meaning of foods, and to analyze the correlations between food concepts and food frequencies on elderly Korean. It involves adapting a communications research tools, the semantic differential and demonstrating its use with two population groups, urban and rural aged. The data were collected by interviewing 217 males and females of 70 years of age and older living in urban and rural areas. To assess how they feel and what they know about foods, the instrument which contains concepts of price, taste, goodness of health, interest, usuality, likes and dislikes, appetite, fattening, quality, and nutritive value about foods were developed. The result shows that there are significant correlations between food concepts and food frequencies. The more affirmative concepts the elderly have, the more food frequencies tend to be. positive concepts are appeared on the meat, fishes, vegetables & fruits, Kimchi and the rice, but negative connotations are appeared on the milk and sugar. There are significant differences between the urban and rural elderly on food concepts.

Harmful Disinformation in Southeast Asia: "Negative Campaigning", "Information Operations" and "Racist Propaganda" - Three Forms of Manipulative Political Communication in Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand

  • When comparing media freedom in Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand, so-called "fake news" appears as threats to a deliberative (online) public sphere in these three diverse contexts. However, "racist propaganda", "information operations" and "negative campaigning" might be more accurate terms that explain these forms of systematic manipulative political communication. The three cases show forms of disinformation in under-researched contexts and thereby expand the often Western focused discourses on hate speech and fake news. Additionally, the analysis shows that harmful disinformation disseminated online originates from differing contextual trajectories and is not an "online phenomenon". Drawing on an analysis of connotative context factors, this explorative comparative study enables an understanding of different forms of harmful disinformation in Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand. The connotative context factors were inductively inferred from 32 expert interviews providing explanations for the formation of political communication (control) mechanisms.

Visual Representation in Glam Style under the Influence of Andy Warhol

  • The purpose of this study is to illuminate the relations between Pop Art and pop music, which formed a serious coupling loop in an identical cultural background. Also this study intends to set up a position of visualized sexual identity as it Points out the conceptional characteristics of glam, a subculture outside mainstream, which includes the matters of sexual minorities such as homosexuality and bisexuality under the influence of the aesthetic and philosophical composition by Andy Warhol. In conjunction herewith, we explore the visual representation of glam style focusing on the influence of Warhol. The classification and explanation about the visual representation of glam style under the influence of Warhol are practised by distinguishing as denotative representation and connotative representation. For the denotative representation shown in the glum style, first, the discordant images were put together by bricolage, then adapted into the new dramatic symbol of youth. Second, through a visually androgynous style a subversion of sex for symbols of sexuality and gender was represented. Third, the factitiveness as a weird display and fallacy is shown from boisterous make-up and unisex sかling in theatricality and put-ons, featuring artificiality, assemblage and unnaturality. And the connaotative representation shown in glum inglam style, first, glam style implies its experimental nature which attempts to break down boundaries between masculinity and femininity, homosexuality and heterosex-uality. Second, the bricolage in sequin and other discordant elements have connotative meanings as sensuality and excessiveness. Third, mixing various style as sexual play shows ironic visual images, in accordance with Superior Theory and Discord Theory.

  • This study selects mannequins. fashion models. and fashion photographs as communication media to express the beauty of an ideal body. Each medium is discussed by the denotative and connotative aspects through the semiology. First, the mannequins are the most concrete medium which can form women's ideal body types and reproduce images in which the idealistic human body are coded in various figures. It embodies such various figures of the modem society by being replaced with the symbolic representation of our intrinsic·extrinsic forms. From a denotative view, the mannequins can be explained by ideal body types and expressive tools. The mannequin has implied connotative meanings of the similarity and dissimilarity between the actual body and itself. Second, fashion models have played a role in transmitting fashion images and presenting the ideal body. As fashion has adopted the body as its object fashion models have been used to express an ideal body. The development of the mass media in the 20th century has defined the standard of the beauty, Both the relationship between fashion designers and fashion models. and the standardization of beauty and fashion models are reviewed from a denotative view. Fashion models imply connotative meanings of the figurative and the controlled property. Third, fashion photographs are historical documents presenting us with the evidence of the ideal body types and culture throughout time. The photographs could be adopted as proper means to express fashion. having realistic and practical expressional functions, and it can be said that the realistic and practical expressional function of photographs has served as a suitable means for express fashion, and fashion photographs are discussed. The fashion photograph has the reproducible and the symbolic property.

수학교과서에서 사용하는 정의의 특성 분석과 수준 탐색 - 기하 영역을 중심으로 - (An Analysis of the Characteristics of Definitions and Exploration the Levels of Definitions in Mathematics Textbooks - In the Area of Geometry -)

  • The purpose of this thesis is, through analysing the characteristics of the definitions in Korean school mathematics textbooks, to explore the levels of them. Definitions use din academic mathematics are rigorous. But they should be transformed into various types, which are presented in school mathematics textbooks, with didactical purposes. In this thesis we investigated such types of transformation. With the result of this investigation we tried to identify the levels of the definitions in school mathematics textbooks. We tried to construct, with consideration about methods of definition, frame for analysing the types of the definitions in school mathematics. Methods of definition are classified as connotative method, denotative method, and synonymous method. Especially we identified that connotative method contains logical definition, genetic definition, relational definition, operational definition, and axiomatic definition. With these analyses we made a frame for investigating the characteristics of the definitions in school mathematics textbooks. With this frame we identified concrete types of transformations of methods of definition. We tried to analyse this result with van Hieles' theory about let·els of geometry learning and the mathematical language levels described by Freudenthal, and identify the levels of definitions in school mathematics. We showed the levels of definitions in the geometry area of the Korean school mathematics.

이용자 중심의 이미지 접근과 이용 분석을 통한 차세대 멀티미디어 검색 패러다임 요소에 관한 연구 (Towards Next Generation Multimedia Information Retrieval by Analyzing User-centered Image Access and Use)

  • 멀티미디어 정보환경의 발전과 다양한 요구를 지닌 정보이용자는 멀티미디어의 접근과 이용에 있어서 기존 정보검색 패러다임에서 중요시하지 않았던 요소를 사용하는 추세이다. 특히 이미지를 포함한 멀티미디어의 감정 접근과 이용은 다양한 정보환경에서 이루어지고 있다. 따라서 효율적으로 추상적 개념인 감정을 이용자에게 접근점으로 제공할 필요성이 증가한다. 본 연구는 감정으로 접근이 가능한 게티 이미지 뱅크의 이미지를 5가지 기본 감정으로 검색하여 부여된 색인어 총 22,675건을 추출하였다. 추출된 색인어는 전체감정, 긍정감정, 부정감정의 세 가지 데이터셋으로 구분하여 분석되었다. 분석을 위해서는 동시출현단어행렬로 작성되어 가중 네트워크와 군집화기법으로 시각화되었다. 분석결과를 살펴보면, 전체감정은 대분류로써 긍정감정, 부정감정, 가족의 3개 군집과 하위 20개의 군집으로 나타났다. 긍정감정은 10개의 군집이며, 부정감정은 10개의 군집으로 구성되었다. 이와 같은 가중 네트워크와 군집구성 분석을 통해, 세 가지 중요한 차세대 멀티미디어 검색을 위한 요소로 논의하였다. 첫째는 이미지 감정 표현을 위한 인물 색인어 특성이다. 둘째는 명시적 단어와 감정을 표현하는 함축적 단어와의 네트워크 구성을 통해서 상대적으로 색인이 용이한 명시적 단어만으로도 함축적 단어 추론 가능성이다. 셋째는 감정으로 표현하는 함축적 단어의 유사어/동의어로의 확장은 이용자 중심의 접근을 제공하는 측면에서 중요하다는 점이다.

  • 미야자키 하야오는 고유의 미학적 표현 형식을 통해 관객과 소통할 수 있는 범문화적인 신화적 공간을 구현함으로써 문화와 언어의 장벽을 뛰어넘는 즐거움을 제공한다. 그의 애니메이션 스토리텔링에는 일본 고유의 전통문화를 기반으로 하는 유무형의 다양한 기호적 요소들이 적극적으로 활용되고 있다. 그리고 그러한 기호들을 통해 함축적 의미작용의 체계를 구성함으로써 관객에게 자의적 해석과 고찰의 미학적 즐거움을 제공하고 있다. 그와 같은 과정 속에서 대립과 공존이라는 보편적 경험 기반의 미학적 형식을 통해 작품 속 함축적 의미의 신화적 메시지를 분명하게 전달시키는 의미체계의 가치를 창출하고 있다. 그것은 바로 하야오가 추구하는 애니메이션 스토리텔링의 소통적 가치라고 할 수 있다.

  • This study aims at the spatial analysis in semiotic architecture focusing on the early works of M. Graves and P. Eisenman, the representative architects of semiotic architecture. This study on the semiotics of architectural space can be started with literaeur's approaches which recognizes it as the language. Thus, to applicate semiotics in architectural space means a methodology reaching for essential architecture. The conclusions of the study as per the above mentioned aims and intentions are as follows: The viewpoint of spatial analysis in M. Graves's semiotic architecture is defined the semantic metaphorical space of denotative context : That of P. Eisenman's described the synthetic deep of connotative self-restraint.
