In this paper propose a Koaren character recognition system using a neural network is proposed. This system is a multilayer neural network based on the masking field model which consists of a input layer, four feature extraction layers which extracts type, direction, stroke, and connection features, and an output layer which gives us recognized character codes. First, 4x4 subpatterns of an NxN character pattern stored in the input buffer are applied into the feature extraction layers sequentially. Then, each of feature extraction layers extracts sequentially features such as type, direction, stroke, and connection, respectively. Type features for direction and connection are extracted by the type feature extraction layer, direction features for stroke by the direction feature extraction layer and stroke and connection features for stroke by the direction feature extraction layer and stroke and connection features for the recongnition of character by the stroke and the connection feature extractions layers, respectively. The stroke and connection features are saved in the sequential buffer layer sequentially and using these features the characters are recognized in the output layer. The recognition results of this system by tests with 8 single consonants and 6 single vowels are promising.

This paper considers corrosion problems in the bolt connection of weathering steel box girder bridge using the external electric type corrosion resistance method which resisted to local corrosion in coated steel surface with contacted air. The weathering steel was created a rust itself in the passive state. but a coated box girder type was easily dew form could be made galvanic cell that accelerated corrosion. so that it was ruled by protection coat with some paint. Therefore, it needed that can be applied the external electric type corrosion resistance method in coated surface. As a result of the test of polarization amount had measured that the weathering steel was higher currents than the general steel by about $5\~10\%$. Therefore. an external electric type corrosion resistance method can be used to protect local corrosion in the coated bolt connection of weathering steel box girders effectively.

Interest in renewable energy has been increasing in recent years for many reasons, and there have been many studies on new types of wave energy converters and mechanisms for them. However, in this paper, motion characteristics of a wave energy converter with a wave activating body type is studied with an experiment. In order to conduct the experiment, a simple wave activating body type's wave energy converter is proposed. Experimental variations consist of connection type and location. The connection type controls the rotation motions of structures, and the connection location controls the distance between structures. The movement of floating structures, such as rotation, velocity, and acceleration, is measured with a potentiometer and a motion capture camera. Using the recorded data, the motion characteristics derived from the experimental variations are investigated.

One of the most influential elements is the moment resisting beam-to-column connection vis-a-vis the behavior and cost of multistory steel building frames. Majority of these connections are column flange connections attached to beam frames. This is called strong-axis connection. Another type of moment resisting connection commonly found in building frames is the web axis connection. In this type of connection, the beams are attached to the plane of the column web perpendicularly. It is called the weak-axis beam. and it tends to bend the column at its weak axis. In this study, some of the fundamental behaviors of beam-to-column connections were examined by changing the connection details as weil as comparing them with previous connection details. This study sought to develop the details in the beam-to-column connection in the weak axis for middle- and low-rise steel construction systems.

We investigated the quench characteristics of a flux-lock type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) depending on the methods of the serial and parallel connections between the superconducting elements. The flux-lock type SFCL consists of two coils. The primary coil is wound in parallel to the secondary coil through an iron core, and the secondary coil is connected to the superconducting elements in series and parallel. In this paper, the analyses of voltage, current, and resistance of the superconducting elements connected in serial and parallel were performed to increase the power capacity of the flux-lock type SFCL. A part of the superconducting elements was not quenched in $2{\times}2$ serial connection between the elements and then the power burden of the quenched elements was increased. However the elements with $2{\times}2$ parallel connection was all quenched. This means that the power burden of each superconducting element can be reduced under the same conditions. We found that $2{\times}2$ parallel connection was more profitable for the current limiting effects and the increase of the power capacity.

This study presents finite element analysis (FEA) on a Y-type perfobond rib shear connection using Abaqus software. The performance of a shear connection is evaluated by conducting a push-out test. However, in practice, it is inefficient to verify the performance by conducting a push-out test with regard to all design variables pertaining to a shear connector. To overcome this problem, FEA is conducted on various shear connectors to accurately estimate the shear strength of the Y-type perfobond rib shear connection. Previous push-out test results for 14 typical push-out test specimens and those obtained through FEA are compared to analyze the shear behavior including consideration of the design variables. The results show that the developed finite element model successfully reflects the effects of changes in the design variables. In addition, using the developed FEA model, the shear resistance of a stubby Y-type perfobond rib shear connector is evaluated based on the concrete strength and transverse rebar size variables. Then, the existing shear resistance formula is upgraded based on the FEA results.

This study focuses on the development of a new method of H-shaped beam-to-square column connection with an outer diaphragm and a field welding. The specific type of beam-to-column connection with an external stiffener, using field welding, is proposed. The structural behavior of this connection was examined experimentally. Two loading type tests were conducted under the experimental parameters given as details. First described was the symmetrical loading test, which supported both ends or a beam simply and applied a load from the column to the pend (What does this mean?) to investigate a fundamental characteristic of this connection. Further described was the anti-symmetrical loading test, which carried out simple support of the column'stop end and the column base, and applied a load from both ends of a beam to investigate the structural performance of this connection. From the results, it is clear that the external- stiffener-type connection proposed in this paper is the reliable connection method.

Welded joints and mechanical joints using bolt connection have been used as a pile-to-pile connecting method for PHC piles. These PHC pile joint methods may have difficulty in securing connecting quality and connecting performance in PHC pile joining process. Therefore, this study proposes a non-welded connection plate type mechanical PHC pile joint to improve the disadvantages of existing PHC pile connection methods and to secure the connection performance of PHC pile joint. Its connection performance was evaluated from nonlinear FE analysis and loading tests for actual PHC piles with suggested pile joints. From nonlinear FE analysis for the proposed PHC pile joint, it was evaluated to have sufficient connection performance under flexural, compressive, tensile, shear, and eccentric compressive load condition. PHC piles connected by the suggested connection plate type mechanical PHC pile joint show that they show stable linear behaviors for the crack moment and the flexural moment level of the PHC pile. Therefore, the proposed a non-welded connection plate type mechanical PHC pile joint can secure sufficient connection performance in PHC pile.
In this study, we use the generalized Tanaka-Webster connection on a trans-Sasakian manifold of type (${\alpha},{\beta}$) and obtain the curvature tensors of a trans-Sasakian manifold with respect to this connection. Also, we investigate some special curvature conditions of a trans-Sasakian manifold with respect to generalized Tanaka-Webster connection and finally, give an example for trans-Sasakian manifolds.

Statement of problem. Accurate fit between the implant components is important because the misfit of the implant components results in frequent screw loosening, irreversible screw fracture, plaque accumulation, poor soft tissue reaction, and destruction of osseointegration. Purpose. This study is to evaluate the machining accuracy and consistency of the implant fixture/ abutment/screw interfaces of the internal connection system by using a Stereoscopic Zoom microscope and FE-SEM(field emission scanning electron microscope) Materials and methods. The implant systems selected in this study were internal connection type implants from AVANA(Osstem^{\circledR}), Bioplant(Cowell-Medi^{\circledR}), Dio(DIO^{\circledR}), Neoplant(Neobiotech ), Implantium(Dentium)systems. Each group was acquired 2 fixtures at random. Two piece type abutment and one piece type abutment for use with each implant system were acquired. Screw were respectively used to hold a two piece type abutment to a implant fixture. The implant fixtures were perpendiculary mounted in acrylic resin block. Each two piece abutment was secured to the implant fixture by screw and one piece abutment also secured to the implant fixture. Abutment/fixture assembly were mounted in liquid unsaturated polyester. All samples were cross-sectioned with grinder-polisher unit. Finally all specimens were analysed the fit between implant fixture/abutment/screw interfaces Results and conclusions. 1. Implant fixture/abutment/screw connection interfaces of internal connection systems made in Korea were in good condition. 2. The results of the above study showed that materials and mechanical properties and quality of milling differed depending on their manufacturing companies.
