Vertebrates with different habitats have different proportions of visual cells, with the rod cells responding to scotopic vision and the cone cells responding to photopic and color vision in their retinas. The present work studied whether the kinds and arrangement patterns of the cone cells and interlocking morphology of the lens were related to the kind of preys and habitats in the genus Zacco. The retinas were observed by a light microscopy using H-E staining method and the interlocking formula of the lens fibers were investigated by a scanning electron microscopy. The interlocking formula of the lens fibers of Z. temmincki is an ' anchor and socket ' connection, and that of Z. platypus is a ' ball and socket ' connection. The cone cells of Z. platypus and Z. temmincki constituted compacted mosaic patterns of row type. Away from the center, the double and single cone cells gradually increased in diameter. Zacco temmincki had identical double cone cells and Z. platypus had non-identical double and single cone cells. The eyes of Z. temminckifeeding on a moving aquatic insects in relative limpid water and swift current of mid and upper stream have better resolution than that of Z. platypus feeding on mainly adhesive algae and some aquatic insects in slightly turbid water of mid stream.
Within the French CIFRE research project COMINO, an innovative type of composite beam was developed for buildings that need fire resistance with no additional supports in construction stage. The developed solution is composed of a steel U-shaped beam acting as a formwork in construction stage for a reinforced concrete part that provides the fire resistance. In the exploitation stage, the steel and the reinforced concrete are acting together as a composite beam. This paper presents the investigation made on the load bearing capacity of this new developed steel-concrete composite section. A full-scale test has been carried out at the Laboratory of Structural Engineering of the University of Luxembourg. The paper presents the configuration of the specimen, the fabrication process and the obtained test results. The beam behaved compositely and exhibited high ductility and bending resistance. The shear connection in the tension zone was effective. The beam failed by a separation between the slab and the beam at high deformations, excessive shear forces conducted to a failure of the stirrups in this zone. The test results are then compared with good agreement to analytical methods of design based on EN 1994 and design guidelines are given.
Purpose: Pink gingival esthetic especially on the anterior teeth has been an important success criterion in implant-supported restoration. Inter-implant papillae are a critical factor for implant esthetics, and various techniques for inter-implant papilla reconstruction have been introduced. The aim of this study is to suggest and evaluate a surgical technique for reconstructing inter-implant papillae. Methods: A 28-year-old man had an implant placed on the #13 and #14 area. Four months after implant placement, a second stage surgery was planned for inter-implant papilla reconstruction. At the time of the abutment connection, I-type incisions were performed on the #13i & #14i area followed by full-thickness flap elevation and connection of a healing abutment on underlying fixtures without suture. Results: Two weeks after the second stage implant surgery, soft tissue augmentation between the two implants was achieved. Conclusions: I-shaped incisions for papilla reconstruction performed during the second stage implant surgery were useful for inter-implant papilla reconstruction and showed a good esthetic result.
Article 35 of the CISG defines standards for determining whether goods delivered by the seller conform to the contract in terms of type, quantity, quality, and packaging. When we apply these article 35(1), (2) of the CISG to the business connection, we will face several issues in the business connection. Fist, we will face the interpretation of contracts. When we interpret the contract, we must remember the article 8 of the CISG. Statements made by and other conduct of a party are to be interpreted according to the intent of parties. Therefore parties of contract must describe their intent correctly. Second, we must make out a contract in written about the promised contents. And it is needed to insert a merger clause in order to prevent part of contract from disagreeing with each other. Third, there are several interpretation of fitness for the purpose for which the goods would ordinarily be used. So it is important to describe the quality standard to be applied. If it does not describe the standard, it is helpful to apply the reasonable quality test. Fourth, there may be some doubt regarding the question of whose standard-that of the seller's or that of the buyer's state-is relevant in order to determine which characteristics the goods must have in order to be fit for their ordinary purpose. Ultimately, the question of the relevant standard is a matter of the interpretation of the contract.
Through extensive research, there exist a new type of connection between railway bridge girders and steel-concrete composite panels. In addition to conventional shear connectors, newly developed blind bolts have been recently adopted for retrofitting. However, the body of knowledge on their influence and application to railway structures has not been thoroughly investigated. This study has thus placed a particular emphasis on the application of blind bolts on the Sydney Harbour Bridge as a feasible alternative constituent of railway track upgrading. Finite element modeling has been used to simulate the behaviours of the precast steel-concrete panels with common types of bolt connection using commercially available package, ABAQUS. The steel-concrete composite track slabs have been designed in accordance with Australian Standards AS5100. These precast steel-concrete panels are then numerically retrofitted by three types of most practical bold connections: head studded shear connector, Ajax blind bolt and Lindapter hollow bolt. The influences of bolt connections on load and stress transfers and structural behaviour of the composite track slabs are highlighted in this paper. The numerical results exhibit that all three bolts can distribute stresses effectively and can be installed on the bridge girder. However, it is also found that Lindapter hollow bolts are superior in minimising structural responses of the composite track slabs to train loading.
Currently we have many DRM(Digital Rights Management) products but they do not provide interoperability between them. It causes user's inconvenience to use a DRM content and places restrictions to digital content distribution. DRM standardization to solve these sorts of problem has been discussed but dominant standardization which can provide DRM interoperability has not been made. In this paper, we propose DRM interoperable scheme by connection between heterogeneous DRM systems (EU) which uses export and import functions. Proposed EXIM can make a DRM content exchangeable between heterogeneous DRM systems with an open type of technology specification although they don't have to open their DRM structure.

The development of automatic production systems has a trend toward Computer Integrated Manufacturing System(CIMS) in recent years. In hardware configuration, CIMS are composed of intelligent CAD/CAM work stations, multifunction CNC machining centers including material handling systems. The DNC systems present the key element of automation hierarchy in a FMS. A DNC system is one which connects a number of numerically-controlled machines to a common memory in a digital computer for part program storage with provision for on-demand distribution of part program data to machines using communication in hierarchical structure of central computer, control computer and cell controller. This paper describes the development of Behind-the-Tape-Reader(BTR) type DNC system using CYBER 180-830 as a central computer and IBM PC-386 cell control computer and NC lathe with FANUC 5T NC controller. In this system, the connection between central computer and cell control computer is done via RS-232C serial interface board, and the connection between cell control computer and FANUC 5T controller is done via parallel interface board. The software consists of two module, central computer communication module for NC program downloading and status uploading, NC machine running module for NC operating.

Responsible tourism attracting worldwide attention has supported local economy and community development as a type of alternative tourism. This study explored the perception toward fairness in tourism and operation status of responsible tour operators in South Korea by conducting in-depth interviews with probe questions. Ten responsible tour operators were interviewed with a semi-structured interview questionnaire for one upto two hours. From the interview data, six themes were identified as difficulties of responsible tour operators: lack of manpower, advertising and promotion, absence of marketing strategy, regulation, lack of budget and lack of recognition of responsible tourism. As government support identified through the interviews, there are the followings seven themes: a low entry barrier market, investment in human resources, resource utilization, community-based policies, connection with local produce, community support and connection system of responsible travel agencies with intermediate support organizations at a local level, The findings of this paper implicate the underlying subject of responsible tourism from a tour operators' perspective.
The commonly used method to secure the stability of reinforced retaining structure is the reinfocement of backfill with connection attached or unattached to the geogrid type wall. Laboratory model tests for both cartes were conducted to investigate the effectiveness of geogridreinforcement, length of reinforcement inclusion, failure envelop, and the relationships between the face wall displacement and vertical settlement. The bearing capacity of each case was also determined. According to the model test results, geogrid-reinforced rigid wall is very effective for increasing the bearing capacity and reducing the displacement of retaining wall. The observed sliding line of model test is similar to the theoretical one.
Semi-rigid connections with blind bolts could solve the difficulty that traditional high strength bolts were unavailable to splice a steel/composite beam to a closed section column. However, insufficient investigations have focused on the performance of semi-rigid connection to square concrete filled double-skin steel tubular (CFDST) columns. In this paper, a component model was developed to evaluate the mechanical behavior of semi-rigid composite connections to CFDST columns considering the stiffness and strength of column face in compression and column web in shear which were determined by the load transfer mechanism and superstition method. Then, experimental investigations on blind bolted composite joints to square CFDST columns were conducted to validate the accuracy of the component model. Dominant failure modes of the connections were analyzed and this type of joint behaved semi-rigid manner. More importantly, strain responses of CFDST column web and tubes verified that stiffness and strength of column face in compression and column web in shear significantly affected the connection mechanical behavior owing to the hollow part of the cross-section for CFDST column. The experimental and analytical results showed that the CFDST column to steel-concrete composite beam semi-rigid joints could be employed for the assembled structures in high intensity seismic regions.
