Image retrieval based on a combination of deep learning and behavior ontology for reducing semantic gap (시맨틱 갭을 줄이기 위한 딥러닝과 행위 온톨로지의 결합 기반 이미지 검색)

  • Recently, the amount of image on the Internet has rapidly increased, due to the advancement of smart devices and various approaches to effective image retrieval have been researched under these situation. Existing image retrieval methods simply detect the objects in a image and carry out image retrieval based on the label of each object. Therefore, the semantic gap occurs between the image desired by a user and the image obtained from the retrieval result. To reduce the semantic gap in image retrievals, we connect the module for multiple objects classification based on deep learning with the module for human behavior classification. And we combine the connected modules with a behavior ontology. That is to say, we propose an image retrieval system considering the relationship between objects by using the combination of deep learning and behavior ontology. We analyzed the experiment results using walking and running data to take into account dynamic behaviors in images. The proposed method can be extended to the study of automatic annotation generation of images that can improve the accuracy of image retrieval results.

  • To develop a virtual world-based immersive tutoring system, we would like to develop a simulation in the spatial aspect to maximize the diversity and realism of the situation. This implementation requires the modeling of virtual space as well as the knowledge and intelligent thinking functions of virtual humans. First, information structures are needed to simulate the hierarchical and multifaceted composition of space and the corresponding knowledge of virtual humans. Specifically, four structures for 2.5D spatial distribution expression, complex spatial relationship expression, object expression, and temporal and spatial representation of events are developed respectively. It then uses these expressed knowledge to develop the spatial thinking function of virtual humans needed to make spatial movement. In general, events have a chain effect on adjacent or connected objects through force, resulting in a variety of situations and reflected in the planning of the next action by the virtual humans involved. For this purpose, the development of events according to historical trends is recorded on the representation structure of time and space. It embodies typical events to demonstrate the feasibility of independent behavior in complex spaces among virtual people.

  • Jeungsan(甑山) carried out the Universal Redesign(天地公事) through which the former world full of a mutual opposition(相克) can be peacefully transferred into the latter world composed of a mutual beneficence(相生). Although the Universal Redesign consists of such three factors heaven, earth, and human, it converges towards Human Redesign in that humans are the main agents for heaven and earth. Human as Redesign object is characterized as a member of community, not an anarchistic individual. The Universal Resign of Jeungsan is eventually connected with the construction of a country comprising a mutual beneficence in that it is the most typical strain among all the human communities. His Universal Resign for foundering the foremost country does not target all the countries, but only one country upon and through which the world with a mutual beneficence can be formed. He executed the Universal Redesign based on such three principles as Haewon sangsaeng(解冤相生), Boeunsangsaeng(報恩相生), and Wonsibanbon(原始返本), Judging from such principles, Korea can be naturally selected as the target of the Universal Redesign for constructing the foremost country. It is approaching when the Universal Redesign in order to transform Korea into the foremost country comes true. The first step for Korea to be made as the foremost country is the construction of DMZ World Peace Park (DWPP) which was proposed by Bak Geunhye, the Korean President, to Obama, the President of USA, in 2013 she visited there. DWPP can be expected to be a center for corporation and interchange between South and North Korea under the interest and support of the world including UN, furthermore, the Capital area of reunified Korea, and finally the world hub of inter national political and economic relation. DWPP is planned to be built at the core of the best place in Korea which is a propitious spot all over the world, upon which a new world capitalism order armed with mutual beneficence can spread.

  • BIM (Building Information Modeling) is touted for efficient building maintenance and operation. However, transitioning from construction to maintenance poses challenges in information transfer and definitive data before completion. Existing structures often lack BIM, demanding more modeling. Additionally, few maintenance staff are skilled in BIM tools.On the other hand, there are studies utilizing point clouds for maintenance. Since point cloud data can record the current situation in 3D, it has advantages such as easily representing valve positions of equipment compared to deformed BIM data.Attribute information uses the international standard COBie, which can record and manage data necessary for building asset management.Point cloud data is broken down into groups of objects necessary for maintenance management by referencing the Common Specification for Building Preservation. Each decomposed object is assigned a corresponding Uniclass number.In this system, the point cloud data, which represents the shape information of the building, is decomposed into objects based on the Common Specification. Using COBie, the building database is created and tasks related to the objects are organized. Each database and system is then connected using Uniclass.By implementing this system, even buildings completed can easily create BIM data from point clouds. Furthermore, since it complies with the international standard COBie, maintenance tasks can be performed in a standardized format, serving as a bridge to the maintenance management system.

International Liability for Damage Caused by Space Debris (우주잔해 손해에 대한 국제책임)

  • Space debris have frequently caused damage to space objects like satellites in orbits and sometimes have fallen on the earth. Such increase in space debris will lead to the high possibility of threatening space activities of mankind. However, it is not so easy for the damage caused both by identified and by unidentified space debris to be recovered since in the regime of the current international law, there is no legislation of prescribing the damage done by space debris. For overcoming the limitation it seems desirable that either the Liability Convention should partly be amended or new international law regime should be established. For instance, 'space debris' should be included in the new definition of 'space object' and the range of launching should also be defined clearly by making the concept of 'launching' somewhat more specified. Moreover, the subject of international liability for damage caused by space debris should be divided into two classes: the subject before and after registration. While in case of before-registration launch states should be held liable for any damage jointly or individually, in case of after-registration 'the state of registry' or 'owner' of the space debris should be. In the event of damage being caused elsewhere than on the surface of the earth to a space object of other State, 'fault-based liability' is currently applied. But it needs to be changed into 'absolutely liability'. In this paper, 'Liability Pool', 'Insurance', 'Market-Share Liability' are presented as aid devices of the damages resulting from unidentified space debris. They should be defined through the amendment of the Liability Convention or another international treaty. Some day there comes a time when our country shall possess many of the astronomical price of satellites. It means that we can't be free from the damage by the increasing number of space debris. Provided that our satellites are damaged by such space debris, it will do the satellites damage and cause impaired functioning or troubles in operation. As a result, if we are not paid for the damage by space debris, we will be confronted with tremendous economic loss because it is necessarily connected with the excess burden of taxation. Thus, an international agreement regarding the measures of the compensation for space debris damage must be made very soon.

Automatic Target Recognition Study using Knowledge Graph and Deep Learning Models for Text and Image data (지식 그래프와 딥러닝 모델 기반 텍스트와 이미지 데이터를 활용한 자동 표적 인식 방법 연구)

  • Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) technology is emerging as a core technology of Future Combat Systems (FCS). Conventional ATR is performed based on IMINT (image information) collected from the SAR sensor, and various image-based deep learning models are used. However, with the development of IT and sensing technology, even though data/information related to ATR is expanding to HUMINT (human information) and SIGINT (signal information), ATR still contains image oriented IMINT data only is being used. In complex and diversified battlefield situations, it is difficult to guarantee high-level ATR accuracy and generalization performance with image data alone. Therefore, we propose a knowledge graph-based ATR method that can utilize image and text data simultaneously in this paper. The main idea of the knowledge graph and deep model-based ATR method is to convert the ATR image and text into graphs according to the characteristics of each data, align it to the knowledge graph, and connect the heterogeneous ATR data through the knowledge graph. In order to convert the ATR image into a graph, an object-tag graph consisting of object tags as nodes is generated from the image by using the pre-trained image object recognition model and the vocabulary of the knowledge graph. On the other hand, the ATR text uses the pre-trained language model, TF-IDF, co-occurrence word graph, and the vocabulary of knowledge graph to generate a word graph composed of nodes with key vocabulary for the ATR. The generated two types of graphs are connected to the knowledge graph using the entity alignment model for improvement of the ATR performance from images and texts. To prove the superiority of the proposed method, 227 documents from web documents and 61,714 RDF triples from dbpedia were collected, and comparison experiments were performed on precision, recall, and f1-score in a perspective of the entity alignment..

  • A nuclear microprobe system with adjustable precision object slits and a magnetic quadrupole doublet was designed by the beam optics simulation using a first order matrix formalism, and installed in a $30^{\circ}$ beam line connected with KIGAM 1.7 MV Tandem VDG Accelerator. Demagnification factors for x and y axis are calculated to be 25 and 4.9, respectively, and a minimum beam spot side is expected to be about 5 $\mu\textrm{m}$ for 3 MeV proton beams with a current of about 1 nA. A multi-purpose octagonal target chamber has been built to facilitate MeV ion-beam analytical techniques of PIXE, RBS, ERDA, and ion beam micro-machining. It contains X-ray and particle detectors, a zoom microscope, a Faraday cup, a 4-axis sample manipulator and a high vacuum pumping system. The system performance of the nuclear microprobe is now being tested, and automatic manipulator control and data acquisition system will be installed for routine applications of micro ion-beam analytical techniques.

A Method of Hand Recognition for Virtual Hand Control of Virtual Reality Game Environment (가상 현실 게임 환경에서의 가상 손 제어를 위한 사용자 손 인식 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a control method of virtual hand by the recognition of a user's hand in the virtual reality game environment. We display virtual hand on the game screen after getting the information of the user's hand movement and the direction thru input images by camera. We can utilize the movement of a user's hand as an input interface for virtual hand to select and move the object. As a hand recognition method based on the vision technology, the proposed method transforms input image from RGB color space to HSV color space, then segments the hand area using double threshold of H, S value and connected component analysis. Next, The center of gravity of the hand area can be calculated by 0 and 1 moment implementation of the segmented area. Since the center of gravity is positioned onto the center of the hand, the further apart pixels from the center of the gravity among the pixels in the segmented image can be recognized as fingertips. Finally, the axis of the hand is obtained as the vector of the center of gravity and the fingertips. In order to increase recognition stability and performance the method using a history buffer and a bounding box is also shown. The experiments on various input images show that our hand recognition method provides high level of accuracy and relatively fast stable results.

  • There is a shortage of mobile application systems readily applicable to the field of crop cultivation in relation to diseases and insect pests directly connected to the quality of crops. Most of system have been devoted to diseases and insect pests that would offer full predictions and basic information about diseases and insect pests currently. But for lack of the instant diagnostic functions seriously and the field of crop cultivation, we design and implement a crop cultivation field-oriented smart diseases and insect pests information retrieval system based on mobile for u-Farm. The proposed system had such advantages as providing information about diseases and insect pests in the field of crop cultivation and allowing the users to check the information with their smart-phones real-time based on the Lucene, a search library useful for the specialized analysis of images, and JSON data structure. And it was designed based on object-oriented modeling to increase its expandability and reusability. It was capable of search based on such image characteristic information as colors as well as the meta-information of crops and meta-information-based texts. The system was full of great merits including the implementation of u-Farm, the real-time check, and management of crop yields and diseases and insect pests by both the farmers and cultivation field managers.

  • In this paper, we have implemented UPnP Devices which emulate a Control Point, a Light Controller, and a Digital TV. The Control Point has been developed on Linux host system by using C language. The UPnP Devices emulating the Digital TV and Light Controller are running on embedded linux developer board. For the development of UPnP Devices, UPnP SDK API Vl.04 made by Intel Co. Ltd. has been ported on Assabet Linux Reference board to implement the UPnP protocol. After we analyze and design some services of Digital TV device, we have applied UPnP Device program to those devices. UPnP SDK vl .04 consists of APIs which support HTTP, SSDP, SOAP, GENA and XML DOM Level-1 that are cores of UPnP protocol. The C program written for the UPnP Control Point has been compiled and executed on Linux-based PC. The embedded system running on Embedded Linux OS has been connected all together through Ethernet which allows IP-based communications. Under this environment, the UPnP programs are being executed on each device. Control Point, when in operational mode, discovers UPnP Devices on the network and displays the device list on the consol. By selecting one of the functionalities of the device services that are displayed on the Control Point, the controllability has been accomplished. The experiment that we performed in this thesis have revealed that the Control Point and UPnP Devices have supported the protocols including SSDP, SOAP, GENA, and DHCP.
