  • In 1997, Yongsan-gu Office of Seoul held a design competition for 'Hyochang Park as a holy Grounds'. Although various shrines and monuments were located in it, Hyochang Park had lost its sense of pace as a 'holy grounds' mostly by its neighborhood-park-like atmosphere at its entrance area. Specific requirement for this competition was designing a 'symbolic object' to make this park more 'holy grounds' looking. However, it was very regretable that Yongsan-gu Office did emphasized on the 'object' rather than on the space or place in this design competition. Three points were emphasized in the winning scheme proposed by the author: where the object be located in the park, how the object be connected with the rest of the park, and how the object harmonized with some of traditional looking architectures and shrines. The purpose of this paper is to articulate the concept of the winning entry in detail and to describe how the concept actualized in reality.

  • In this paper, we propose an extracting method of moving object contour using active contour model from image sequences acquired by fixed camera. We use an adaptive background model for robust processing in surrounding conditions. Object segmentation model detects pixels thresholded from local difference image between background and current image and extracts connected regions. Noises in boundary area of moving object we eliminated by morphological filter. The contour of segmented object is corrected by using active contour model for extracting accurate boundary of moving object. We apply the proposed method to highway image sequences and show the results of simulation.

  • Visual tracking of selected target objects is fundamental challenging problems in computer vision. Object tracking localize the region of target object with bounding box in the video. We propose a Siam-FPN based custom fully CNN to solve visual tracking problems by regressing the target area in an end-to-end manner. A method of preserving the feature information flow using a feature map connection structure was applied. In this way, information is preserved and emphasized across the network. To regress object region and to classify object, the region proposal network was connected with the Siamese network. The performance of the tracking algorithm was evaluated using the OTB-100 dataset. Success Plot and Precision Plot were used as evaluation matrix. As a result of the experiment, 0.621 in Success Plot and 0.838 in Precision Plot were achieved.

  • A ship-block cutting module is being developed as part of a computational system for a ship design. The module supports product-information to other modules in design process and displays ship-blocks in cutting-operation. Welding-information is essential to process-planning and scheduling. In the module, ship-blocks are modeled by Plate-Objects and then divided into several cutting pieces. The module automatically creates Welding-Objects containing welding-information in the process. Since the module is connected to WWW(World Wide Web), users in various platforms can access the models simultaneously In addition, users can check manufacturing constraints by inspecting a virtual model.

  • This study is purposed to find the transition of the perspective connected with visual modality. The perspective based on Greek optics and euclidean geometry and rediscovered in Renaissance represents the object according to the particular moment and the point of view, is a principal fact which affect architecture, the form of a city and the spatial organization and symbolizes an ideal of the times. It embodied perception which treats the space rationally on the basis of realism and became visual modality based on the separation of the seeing subject and the world of the object. The point of view became one with the vanishing point which made up the shape and after Renaissance for four hundred years a straight line, a right angle and a circle got to be favorite geometrical choices in architecture. A fixed point of view of the subject is getting to change and break up fundamentally by the new visual technologies of the modem times.

  • Focused on developing form of Western architecture, invisible elements covering actual human life has been dealt with separately and the time was turned away and disparaged. But now the phenomenology, arranging such a meeting of space and time, gives opportunity to look at the actual life in architecture. Recently, Guille Deleuze and Merleau-Ponty tried to recover the sense of touch segregated in skin from body keeping eyes for distance. And the activity can be happened by being connected to the body rather than to eye in the space. From the phase of recognition where the human body tries to identify the object in the space considering a time, it will be changed for the subject to the phase of space-time structure. If the tactility is to erase the distance different from the visuality in dichotomy, it will be occurred to having a tension and makes new relationship to work trying to move the subjective point of view in object. Like this evidence in analysis of architecture, it can be found these in the Korean traditional architecture rather than Western architecture in terms of emphasizing the time and space. And this study will be intensive to the side of the Phenomenology how it is being connected to the movement in the space and time for the subject and object.

  • To develop a generic ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning) system which can accommodate various types of manufacturing enterprises, object-oriented methods are commonly applied from analysis to implementation. The objective of OO-ERP (Object-Oriented ERP) systems is the reusability of business objects(components). In practice, one of the critical features for the reusable OO-ERP system would be the capability of interfacing with distributed, heterogeneous data repositories. Consequently, it is essential to provide data repository transparency in OO-ERP systems - business objects do not take care of the locations and types of data repositories. In this paper, we propose Data Object Layer(DOL) that supports such transparency. DOL is a horizontal component through which OO-ERP systems can be seamlessly connected with diverse data repositories.

  • This paper presents the method for the extraction of the lungs part from the other parts for the diagnostic of the lungs part. The proposed method is based on the calculation of the connected component and the centroid of the image. Connected Component labeling is used to label the each objects in the binarized image. After the labeling is done, centroid value is calculated for each object. The filing operation is applied which helps to extract the lungs part from the image retaining all the parts of the original lungs image. The whole process is explained in the following steps and experimental results shows it's significant.

  • In this paper, a novel text binarization is presented that can deal with some complex conditions, such as shadows, non-uniform illumination due to highlight or object projection, and messy backgrounds. To locate the target text region, a focus line is assumed to pass through a text region. Next, connected component analysis and stroke width estimation based on location information of the focus line is used to locate the bounding box of the text region, and each box of connected components. A series of classifications are applied to identify whether each CC(Connected component) is text or non-text. Also, a modified K-means clustering method based on an HCL color space is applied to reduce the color dimension. A text binarization procedure based on location of text component and seed color pixel is then used to generate the final result.

  • Ubiquitous technology is the trend towards increasingly ubiquitous, connected computing devices in the environment, a trend being brought about by a convergence of advanced electronic - and particularly, wireless - technologies and the internet. Ubiquitous technology is pervasive in nature and unobtrusively embedded in the environment, completely connected, intuitive, effortlessly portable, and constantly available. The object of this paper is to describe the strategy plan for Ubiquitous-Urban Transit Total Information System.
