  • A large system predictor, which can perform prediction of sales trend in a huge number of distribution centers, is presented using neural predictive model. There are 20,000 number of distribution centers, and each distribution center need to forecast future demand in order to establish a reasonable inventory policy. Therefore, the number of forecasting models corresponds to the number of distribution centers, which is not possible to estimate that kind of huge number of accurate models in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)module. Multilayer neural net as universal approximation is employed for fitting the prediction model. In order to improve prediction accuracy, a sequential simulation procedure is performed to get appropriate network structure and also to improve forecasting accuracy. The proposed simulation procedure includes neural structure identification and virtual predictive model generation. The predictive model generation consists of generating virtual signals and estimating predictive model. The virtual predictive model plays a key role in tuning the real model by absorbing the real model errors. The complement approach, based on real and virtual model, could forecast the future demands of various distribution centers.

  • We have designed an Internet voting system applicable for worldwide voting which is based on Ohkubo et. al,'s scheme[9] combined with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first trial to serve secure Internet voting system to the world. In our system, voter's privacy is guaranteed by using blind signature and mix-net, and robustness is provided through the threshold encryption scheme. By employing Java technology, we propose a way of typical implementation for internet voting system. Furthermore, PKI permits worldwide key distribution and achieve “one certificate/one vote” policy. Therefore, anyone can participate in the voting if he gets a certificate from Certificate Authority (CA). By the joint work between Korean and Japanese teams, the implementation aims to select MVPs in 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea-Japan$\^$TM/ in easy and friendly manner for any Internet user to participate and enjoy Internet voting.

  • This study investigates the distribution stability of binary nanofluids where binary mixtures such as $NH_3/H_2O$ and $H_2O/LiBr$ solution are used as a base fluid. When a little amount of certain nanosized particles is added into a basefluid, the thermal conductivity of that mixture increases greatly. Such mixtures are named 'nanofluids' where nano-particles should be distributed stably and uniformly so the distribution stability of nanoparticles in nanofluids is one of the most important factors for nanofluid application. Therefore, binary nanofluids in which binary mixtures are applied as the basefluids are considered as working fluids. The kind and the concentration of nanoparticles, and the concentration of ammonia are considered as the key parameters. The objectives of this paper are to visualize the dispersed status of particles in binary nanofluids and to find the effect of key parameters on the distribution stability in the ammonia absorption system.

  • An important aspect of the study of power system markets involves the assessment of strategic behavior of participants for maximizing their profits. In models of imperfect competition of a deregulated electricity system the key task is to find the Nash equilibrium. In this paper, the bimatrix approach for finding Nash equilibria in electricity markets is investigated. This approach determines pure and mixed equilibria using the complementarity pivot algorithm. The mixed equilibrium in the matrix approach has the equal number of non-zero property. This property makes it difficult to reproduce a smooth continuous distribution for the mixed equilibrium. This paper proposes an algorithm for adjusting the quantization value of discretization to reconstruct a continuous distribution from a discrete one.

  • The continuing scaling trend in microelectronic circuit technology has a significant impact on the different IC interconnection and packaging technologies. These latter technologies have not kept pace with the IC scaling trends, resulting in a so-called“interconnect technology gap”. Multilayer thin film technology is proposed as a“bridge”- technology between the very high density IC technology and the coarse standard PCB technology. It is also a key enabling technology for the realisation of true“System-in-a-Package”(SIP) solutions, combining multiple“System-on-a-Chip”(SOC) IC's with other components and also integrating passive components in its layers. A further step is to use this technology to realise new functionalities on top of active wafers. These additional“above-IC”processed layers may e.g. be used for low loss, high speed on chip interconnects, clock distribution circuits, efficient power/ground distribution and to realize high Q inductors on chip.

  • In this paper, we designed the authentication system for home network service and applied it to actual sensor nodes. SNEP protocol of SPINS provides confidentiality of data and authentication. We achieved authentication key, encryption and decryption applied RCS encryption algorithm of SNEP. In addition, we used pair-wise key pre-distribution for prevention of authentication sniffing in wireless sensor network. The experiment environment consists of a base station receiving data and sensor nodes sending data. Each sensor nodes sends both the data and encrypted authentication key to the base station. The experiences had shown that the malfunction doesn't happen in communication among other groups. And we confirmed in tests that the system is secure when a sensor having malicious propose is added.

  • Despite the fact that UFAD (Under Floor Air Distribution) systems have many benefits and are being applied in the field in increasing numbers, there is a strong need for an improved fundamental understanding of several key performance features of these systems. This study numerically investigates the effect of design parameters on the performance of UFAD, especially focused on thermal comfort. The design parameters considered in this study include supplied air temperature, supplied flow rate, diffuser shape, swirl, diffuser location, and floor-to-floor height. Also this study has compared UFAD with over head system, on the point of thermal comfort by evaluating PMV using radiative mean temperature, which shows how inadequate the evaluation of thermal comfort can be when radiation is neglected. Until now, the radiative temperature has been the missing link between CFD and thermal comfort, but the present study paves the way for overcoming this weakness.
