  • A multidimensionality detecting procedure DETECT, based on conditional covariances between items, is extended and refined to deal with polytomous item data as well as binary one. A large body of simulation study shows extraordinary performance of DETECT in both enumerating degrees of multidimensionality in a test and discovering dimensionally distinctive item clusters. Real data study also provides very meaningful results, making DETECT a strong dimensionality assessment tool for the test data analysis.

  • Wind tunnel tests are conducted to investigate the wind loads on vertical fixed-roof cylindrical tanks with a very low aspect ratio of 0.275, which is a typical ratio for practical tanks with a volume of $100,000m^3$. Both the flat-roof tank and the dome-roof tank are investigated in present study. The first four moments of the measured wind pressure, including the mean and normalized deviation pressure, kurtosis and skewness of the pressure signal, are obtained to study the feature of the wind loads. It is shown that the wind loads are closely related to the behavior of flow around the structure. For either tank, the mean wind pressures on the cylinder are positive on the windward area and negative on the sides and the wake area, and the mean wind pressures on the whole roof are negative. The roof configurations have no considerable influence on the mean pressure distributions of cylindrical wall in general. Highly non-Gaussian feature is found in either tank. Conditional sampling technique, envelope method, and the proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) analysis are employed to investigate the characteristics of wind loads on the cylinder in more detail. It is shown that the patterns of wind pressure obtained from conditional sampling are similar to the mean pressure patterns. An instantaneous pressure coefficient can present a wide range from the maximum value to the minimum value. The quasi-steady assumption is not valid for structures considered in this paper according to the POD analysis.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new pixel circuit of the CMOS image sensor for high dynamic range operation, which is based on a multiple sampling scheme and a conditional reset circuit. To expand the pixel dynamic range, the output is multiple-sampled in the integration time. In each sampling, the pixel output is compared with a reference voltage, and the result of comparison may activate the conditional reset circuit. The times of conditional reset, N, during the integration will contribute to the increase of the dynamic range by the times of N. The test chip was fabricated with 0.65-${\mu}m$ CMOS technology (2-P, 2-M).

  • This paper consider the testing problem of variance component for the unbalanced tow=-way error component model. We provide a conditional LM test statistic for testing zero individual(time) effects assuming that the other time-specific(individual)efefcts are present. This test is extension of Baltagi, Chang and Li(1998, 1992). Monte Carlo experiments are conducted to study the performance of this LM test.

  • Moore and Stubblebine(1981) suggested a chi-square test for multivariate normality based on cell counts calculated from the sample Mahalanobis distances. They derived the limiting distribution of the test statistic only when equiprobable cells are employed. Using conditional limit theorems, we derive the limiting distribution of the statistic as well as the asymptotic normality of the cell counts. These distributions are valid even when equiprobable cells are not employed. We finally apply this method to a real data set.

  • A class of asymmetric beta-ARCH processes is proposed and connections to traditional ARCH models are explained. Geometric ergodicity of the model is discussed. Conditional least squares as well as maximum likelihood estimators of parameters and their limit results are also presented. A test for symmetry of the model is studied with limiting power of test statistic given.

  • In this study, conditional simulation was conducted to estimate rock mass rating(RMR) in unsurveyed regions. Sequential Gaussian simulation(SGS) and sequential indicator simulation(SIS) were applied for estimating RMR from the bore hole logging data. The uncertainty of SGS and SIS was verified by sample cross validation. A subset composed of 5 bore hole logging data among the original 30 bore hole logging data was set aside as test data. The remainder was training data. The quality of SGS and SIS estimation on the testing data reflects how well it would perform in an unsupervised setting. SGS and SIS were useful stochastic methods to estimate the spatial distribution of rock mass classes correctly and assess the uncertainty of estimation quantitatively. The result of conditional simulation can offer useful information of rock mass classes such as RMR in unsurveyed regions.

  • In this work, we propose an automatic word spacing system for Korean using conditional random fields (CRFs) with Korean features. We map a word spacing problem into a classification problem in our work. We build a basic system which uses CRFs and Eumjeol bigram. After then, we analyze the result of inner-test. We extend a basic system added by some Korean features which are Josa, Eomi and two head Eumjeols of word extracting from lexicon. From the results of experiment, we can see that the proposed method is better than previous methods. Additionally the proposed method will be able to use mobile and speech applications because of very small size of model.

  • This study was carried out to identify destination choice behavior for one-day use recreation areas. Previous positioning study was utilized to select 4 study areas, and the secondary data were used for logit analyses. The Hausamn-McFadden test for IIA was conducted to examine whether conditional logit models are valid methodology for this study. The results revealed that IIA assumption among the study areas was violated; therefore, generalized binomial and generalized multinomial logit models were used in this study. In the binomial logit analysis, 2 to 5 independent variables were included in the models: their $\rho$2 values were from 0.1to 0.323, and accuracy of predictions were from 65.38 to 79.86 percent. In the multinomial logit analysis, 4 independent variables were included in the model: its $\rho$2 value was 0.207, and accuracy of prediction was 45.82 percent. The results showed that the conditional logit should be used with caution because of the IIA assumption. Several suggestions were described, mainly due to utilization of the secondary data for this study.

  • Conditional branch instructions are a major obstacle to the increasing of RISC processor performance, because they can break the smooth flow of instructions; the issuing of instructions after a branch instruction must often wait until the condition is resolved. This paper proposes a hardware scheme which has a duplicated fetching logic to reduce the penalty imposed by conditional branch instructions. The proposed shceme has a buffer to maintain states of processor, which supports the precise interrupt. We make use of two code segments to test the performance and their results were compared with those of the delayed branch. We got the result that the proposed scheme reduces the branch penalty extremely.
