  • This paper presents the motion estimation algorithm on real-time for mobile surveillance robot using particle filter. the particle filter that based on the monte carlo's sampling method, use bayesian conditional probability model which having prior distribution probability and posterior distribution probability. However, the initial probability density was set to define randomly in the most of particle filter. In this paper, we find first the initial probability density using Sum of Absolute Difference(SAD). and we applied it in the partical filter. In result, more robust real-time estimation and tracking system on the randomly moving object was realized in the mobile surveillance robot environments.

  • Let {$X_n$, $n{\geq}1$} be a sequence of i.i.d. random variables with absolutely continuous cumulative distribution function(cdf) F(x) and the corresponding probability density function(pdf) f(x). In this paper, we give characterizations of Pareto and Weibull distribution by considering conditional expectations of record values.

  • Let {$X_{n},\;n\;\geq\;1$} be a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables with absolutely continuous cumulative distribution function (cdf) F(x) and probability density function (pdf) f(x). Suppose $X_{U(m)},\;m = 1,\;2,\;{\cdots}$ be the upper record values of {$X_{n},\;n\;\geq\;1$}. It is shown that the linearity of the conditional expectation of $X_{U(n+2)}$ given $X_{U(n)}$ characterizes the lomax, exponential and pareto distributions.

  • Let { $X_{n}$ , n $\geq$ 1} be a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables with a common continuous distribution function F(x) and probability density function f(x). Let $Y_{n}$ = max{ $X_1$, $X_2$, …, $X_{n}$ } for n $\geq$ 1. We say $X_{j}$ is an upper record value of { $X_{n}$ , n$\geq$1} if $Y_{j}$ > $Y_{j-1}$, j > 1. The indices at which the upper record values occur are given by the record times {u(n)}, n$\geq$1, where u(n) = min{j|j>u(n-1), $X_{j}$ > $X_{u}$ (n-1), n$\geq$2} and u(1) = 1. We call the random variable X $\in$ Beta (1, c) if the corresponding probability cumulative function F(x) of x is of the form F(x) = 1-(1-x)$^{c}$ , c>0, 0$\leq$x$\leq$1. In this paper, we will give a characterization of the beta distribution of the first kind by considering conditional expectations of record values.s.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the implications on when and how the correlation concept can be taught. we investigate the development time and method of the concept in a statistical perspective those initially have discussed in psychology by Piaget. We first reviewed the 1958 research by Inhelder and Piaget. It was the first one which researched the development of the correlation and has become the foundation of psychological perspective. According to them, the correlation concept needs proportional and probability concept ahead of its development and argued on the coefficient of correlation based on formal and logical position. However, from a statistical perspective, the correlation concept is a part of the distribution concept. So, the level of the correlation concept grows from the comparison of conditional distributions to the conditional probability distribution where the proportional concept and probability concept are applied. As reviewed through the literature, we found that 11-12 years old students in early formal operation stage reasoned about correlation through the comparison of conditional distributions. In our study, we argue that we need to consider the possibility of beginning didactic mediation for correlation concept earlier and the method approaching it in a distribution perspective.

  • A Korean word is composed of syllables. A Korean syllable is regarded as a random variable according to its probabilistic property in occurrence. A Korean syllable is divided into 'choseong', 'jungseong', and 'jongseong' which are regarded as random variables. We can consider teh conditional probatility of syllable as an index which represents the occurrence correlation between syllables in Korean words. Since the number of syllables is enormous, we use the conditional probability of a' choseong', a 'jungseong', and a 'jongseong' between syllables as an index which represents the occurrence correlation between syllables in Korean words. The length distribution of Korean woeds is computed according to frequency and to kind. Form the cumulative frequency of a Korean syllable computed from multi-syllable Korean woeds, all probabilities and conditiona probabilities are computed for the three random variables. The conditional probabilities of 'choseong'- 'choseong', 'jungseong'- 'jungseong', 'jongseong'-'jongseong', 'jongseong'-'choseong' between adjacent syllables in multi-syllable Korean woeds are computed.

  • Conditional spectra (CS) are applied to the seismic fragility assessment of a nuclear power plant (NPP) containment building for comparison with a relevant conventional uniform hazard response spectrum (UHRS). Three different control frequencies are considered in developing conditional spectra. The contribution of diverse magnitudes and epicentral distances is identified from deaggregation for the UHRS at a control frequency and incorporated into the conditional spectra. A total of 30 ground motion records are selected and scaled to simulate the probability distribution of each conditional spectra, respectively. A set of lumped mass stick models for the containment building are built considering nonlinear bending and shear deformation and uncertainty in modeling parameters using the Latin hypercube sampling technique. Incremental dynamic analysis is conducted for different seismic input models in order to estimate seismic fragility functions. The seismic fragility functions and high confidence of low probability of failure (HCLPF) are calculated for different seismic input models and analyzed comparatively.

  • Bivariate Laplace distributions for which both marginal distributions and Laplace are discussed. Three kinds of bivariate Laplace distributions which are extended bivariate exponential distributions of Gumbel (1960) are introduced in this paper. These symmetrical distributions are compared with asymmetrical distributions of Kotz et al. (2000). Their probability density functions, cumulative distribution functions are derived. Conditional skewnesses and kurtoses are also defined. Their correlation coefficients are calculated and compared with others. We proposed bivariate random vector generating methods whose distributions are bivariate Laplace. With sample means and medians obtained from generated random vectors, variance and covariance matrices of means and medians are calculated and discussed with those of bivariate normal distribution.

  • Characterizations of probability distributions by different regression conditions on generalized order statistics has attracted the attention of many researchers. We present here, characterization of Pareto and Weibull distributions based on the conditional expectation of generalized order statistics extending the characterization results reported by Jin and Lee (2014). We also present a characterization of the power function distribution based on the conditional expectation of lower generalized order statistics.

  • A family of continuous probability distribution has been characterized through the difference of two conditional expectations, conditioned on a non-adjacent record statistic. Also, a result based on the unconditional expectation and a conditional expectation is used to characterize a family of distributions. Further, some of its deductions are also discussed.
