In this study, the measurement system was developed for the measurement of pollutants from building materials, and specimens were made with concrete, gypsum board, mortar and wall paper. Characteristics of VOCs and TVOC concentration and Emission Factor as a function of time were assessed, and the conclusion was drawn as follows. (1) From predicting TVOC concentration decrease of specimen 7 with the wall paper attached to the concrete, the graph may become linear by converting the value of y-axis into the log function, and the prediction equation can be expressed as $y=34906{\ast}e^{-0.0093{\ast}time}$. Moreover, chi-square value was 0.83 which is relatively high value, indicating that TVOC concentration can be properly predicted if the same materials are used indoors. (2) From predicting VOCs Emission Factor decrease of specimen 7, the prediction equation can be expressed as $EF=15111{\ast}e^{-0.0093{\ast}time}$, and chi-square value was 0.83. (3) From predicting TVOC concentration decrease of specimen 7, prediction equation can be considered to be $y=254323{\ast}(1-e^{-0.1046{\ast}time})$, and chi-square was 0.994 which is significantly high value, indicating that indoor TVOC concentration can be properly predicted if the same materials are used indoors. Furthermore, the prediction of concentration decrease using cumulative value of hourly measured concentration is considered to be more accurate than that using just hourly measured value directly. (4) From predicting Emission Factor decrease with cumulative hourly data of Emission Factor, chi-square appeared to be higher than that by just using hourly data of Emission Factor directly. Therefore, the prediction of Emission Factor with cumulative hourly data can provide more reliable prediction equation than the case by using just hourly concentration directly.
Presented are experimental results from 24 full-scale push test specimens to study the behaviour of composite beams with trapezoidal profiled sheeting laid transverse to the beam axis. The tests use a single-sided horizontal push test setup and are divided into two series. First series contained shear loading only and the second had normal load besides shear load. Four parameters are studied: the effect of wire mesh position and number of its layers, placing a reinforcing bar at the bottom flange of the deck, normal load and its position, and shear stud layout. The results indicate that positioning mesh on top of the deck flange or 30 mm from top of the concrete slab does not affect the stud's strength and ductility. Thus, existing industry practice of locating the mesh at a nominal cover from top of the concrete slab and Eurocode 4 requirement of placing mesh 30 mm below the stud's head are both acceptable. Double mesh layer resulted in 17% increase in stud strength for push tests with single stud per rib. Placing a T16 bar at the bottom of the deck rib did not affect shear stud behaviour. The normal load resulted in 40% and 23% increase in stud strength for single and double studs per rib. Use of studs only in the middle three ribs out of five increased the strength by 23% compared to the layout with studs in first four ribs. Eurocode 4 and Johnson and Yuan equations predicted well the stud strength for single stud/rib tests without normal load, with estimations within 10% of the characteristic experimental load. These equations highly under-estimated the stud capacity, by about 40-50%, for tests with normal load. AISC 360-16 generally over-estimated the stud capacity, except for single stud/rib push tests with normal load. Nellinger equations precisely predicted the stud resistance for push tests with normal load, with ratio of experimental over predicted load as 0.99 and coefficient of variation of about 8%. But, Nellinger method over-estimated the stud capacity by about 20% in push tests with single studs without normal load.

In high multistory buildings, hybrid coupled shear walls can provide an efficient structural system to resist horizontal force due to wind and seismic loads. Hybrid coupled shear walls are usually built over the whole height of the building and are laid out either as a series of walls coupled by steel beams with openings to accommodate doors, elevator walls, windows and corridors. In this paper, the behavior characteristics of hybrid coupled shear wall system considering connection details is examined through results of an experimental research program where 5 two-thirds scale specimens were tested under cyclic loading. Such connections details are typically employed in hybrid coupling wall system consisting of steel coupling beams and reinforced concrete shear wall. The test variables of this study are embedment length of steel coupling beam and wall thickness of concrete shear wall. The results and discussion presented in this paper provide fundamental data for seismic behavior of hybrid coupled shear wall systems.
To research effects of various chemical superplasticizers(Lignosulfonic acid, Naphthalene sulfonated formaldehyde condensate, melamine sulfonated formaldehyde condensate, and Polycarboxylate) on the hydration of cement, experiments involving XRD, SEM, and DSC have been analysed with cement paste specimens. Regardless of types and dosages of superplasticizers, hydration reaction of specimen applied superplasticizer was delayed to 3 day, but then it showed similarity to plain which don't add superplasticizer. Moreover, the hydrating rate of cement paste was retarded as dosage of superplasticizer was increased. Also, kinetics related with hydrate of cement paste was slow in order of lignosulfonic acid, polycarboxylate, melamine and naphthalene sulfonated formaldehyde condensate. Nevertheless, when all kinds of chemical admixtures were used, morphologies of these hydrates were denser and more uniform than those of plain.
One of the most complex reinforcement location in the precast building frame is the beam-column joint in a prefabricated construction. It is generally resulted from the vortical bars of column, anchorage bars of beam, and bars of hoop. Particularly the hooked anchorage bars of beam are confronted with hoop and main column bars. The headed reinforcement is considered to place them easily and to reduce the anchorage length in a precast construction. Reversed cyclic loading tests are performed on four beam-column specimens to evaluate the strength and behavior of beam to column and column to column connections. The result of test shows that the headed reinforcement has a similar performance than that of hooked reinforcement in a precast specimen with strong column and weak beam joints. The splice column joints which are used frequently in the domestic fields also show reliable behaviors in those tests with strong column and weak beam joints.

When using the light-weight form with polystyrene on slab, as a result of reducing the weight of slab, the span was increased or size of supporting member for slab was decreased. But capacity of punching shear resistance on the slab using the polystyrene form with plat plate system was deteriorated at critical section around the column. But standard for estimate of internal force did not exist, and established study was insufficient. This study performed the experiment on the punching shear for understanding punching shear force at the slab-column connection using the slab with polystyrene form. The principal variable was size of column, arrangement of polystyrene form and existence of shear reinforcement, and we planned four specimens. From the test, we analysed the crack, failure mode, road-displacement graph and punching shear strength, and capacity of punching shear resistance for slab using the polystyrene form was understood.

Direct tensile response of strain hardening cement composites(SHCC) depends primarily on the material's tensile response, which is a water cement ratio, direct function of fiber and matrix characteristics, the bond between them, and the fiber volume fraction. This paper discusses effect of aspect ratio of the direct tensile response of SHCC with PET and PVA fibers. The main variables considered include the aspect ratio of PET fibers(Aspect ratio, ${\ell}/d_f$ : 150, 300, 600). For the same mixture proportion, PET1.5+PVA0.5-300 and PET1.5+PVA 0.5-600(Aspect ratio 300, 600) showed better overall behavior(Pseudo strain-hardening, Multiple cracking) than specimens with PET1.5+PVA0.5-150(Aspect ratio 150). Tensile strain of PET1.5+PVA0.5-300 and PET1.5+PVA 0.5-600 at ultimate tensile stress were 0.5, 2.0% respectively.

The renewal of existing buildings rather than new construction has increased due to it's cost effective characteristics. Remodeling is also an environmentally-friendly approach that reduces the amount of waste in construction site. Remodeling can sometimes include partial destruction of the structural members of a building. In addition it is important that the buildings under going remodeling retrofitted to make themselves stable and meet up with the future demands for better structural performance. The objective of this paper is to present the test results and structural behavior of RC walls that are perforated and to introduce effective retrofitting methods by evaluating efficacy of passive retrofit and active retrofit. Passive retrofit and Active retrofit using carbon fiber sheets, steel plates and wire that are widely used for strengthening the main members of existing buildings. The test results showed that the failed specimens had shear fractures and that two different types of retrofit method had different effects on the strengths of each specimen.

Many engineers find the way of improving the old building's structural behavior in the remodeling project which is performed using artificial openings for merging two houses. This test was performed to verify the characteristics of coupling beams according to the shape of the openings. One of test specimen has rectangle shape and the other was made by the circle shaped opening and one has coupling member only as slabs. Additionally, three specimens which have openings have 23% ratio in opening area to total wall area. Consequently, solid type which have no opening area shows shear failure. In the case of CW-RBS which have rectangular shaped opening, cracks are developed in coupling beam significantly. And CW-CS which has circular opening failed in shear showing development of diagonal cracks at wall toes and wall mid-height. It is thought that degradation of the wall strength is under the control of the opening shape and coupling beam-wall connection area.

SHCC shows the high energy tolerance capacity due to the interfacial bonding of the fibers to the cement matrix. For effective material design and application of SHCC, it is needed to investigate the damage process and micro-fracture mechanism of cement matrix reinforced with different types of fibers. The objective of this paper is to investigate the direct tensile response of cement composites reinforced with single and hybrid fibers using acoustic emission(AE) technique. In this study, the correlations between AE signal and result of the direct tensile response of SHCC. For these purposes, three kinds of fibers were used: PET1.5%, PET1.0+PE0.5%, PET1.0%+PVA0.5%. The result of the direct tensile response of SHCC, for the same volume fraction of fibers, ultimate strength of PET-PE specimen was 2.7 times higher than specimens with PET fibers. And from AE signal value, AE event numbers and cumulative energy were different according to kind of fiber because of the different material properties of reinforced fiber.
