The bend resistance of coated reinforcing bar is greatly influenced by both the adhesion strength between bar and coating materials, and the followed transformation of coating material as bars bend. Especially, tearing state or partial microscopic cracks are predicted on the inside and outside of bending angle, because tensile strength and elongation of polymer film are very different according to types of polymer dispersions in bar coating, and these damaged parts are rapidly corroded by penetration of corrosive factors. In this study, polymer cement slurry coated reinforcing bars with various polymer dispersions are prepared by following combined conditions, polymer-cement ratio of 50% and 100%, coating thickness of 250$\mu$m and 450$\mu$m, coating number, curing age of 3, 7, 14 and 28days. Then the specimens are tested for working life and bend resistance at bending angles $90^{\circ}$, $135^{\circ}$and $180^{\circ}$ to observe the microscopic damage effect as the bars bend. Also, epoxy-coated reinforcing bars for control experiment were used with 250$\mu$m of coating thickness. The tensile strength for polymer films is performed. From the test results, the working life of the polymer cement slurry is within 90 seconds. Among four types of polymer dispersion, polymer cement slurry coated reinforcing bar using St/BA-1 emulsion has the excellent bend resistance, which is remarkably improved than that of epoxy-coated reinforcing bar. And the bend resistance is more related to elongation than tensile strength of polymer film. Polymer cement slurry with a polymer-cement ratio of 100%, a coating thickness of $450\mu$m and one coating using St/BA emulsion is selected as a most suitable coating material for coated reinforcing bar.
Reinforced concrete structures have been increasingly widely used in numerous industrial fields. These structures are often exposed to severely corrosive environments such as seawater, contaminated water, acid rain, and the seashore. Thus, the corrosion problems that occur with the steel bars embedded in concrete are very important from the safety and economic points of view. In this study, the effects of the cover thickness on the corrosion properties of reinforced steel bars embedded in multiple mortar test specimens immersed in seawater for 5 years were investigated using electrochemical methods such as the corrosion potentials, polarization curves, cyclic voltammograms, galvanostat, and potentiostat. The corrosion potentials shifted in the noble direction, and the value of the AC impedance also exhibited a higher value with increasing cover thickness. Furthermore, the polarization resistance increased with increasing cover thickness, which means that the oxide film that is deposited on the surface of a steel bar surrounded by alkali environment exhibits better corrosion resistance because the water, chloride ions and dissolved oxygen have difficulty penerating to the surface of the steel bar with increasing cover thickness. Consequently, it is considered that the corrosion resistance of reinforced steel can be improved by increasing the cover thickness. However, the corrosion resistance values of a steel bar estimated by measuring the corrosion potential, impedance and polarization resistance were not in good agreement with its corrosion resistance obtained by polarization curves.

This study proposed V-shaped tie bar method as an alternative of internal cross-tie for reinforced concrete columns in order to enhance the constructability and confinement effectiveness of the lateral tie bars. A total of 35 pull-out specimens were prepared with the parameters of concrete compressive strength and bending angle and embedment length of the V-shaped bar to examine the bond stress-slip relationship of the V-shaped tie bar. The bond strength of the V-shaped tie bars with the bending angle not exceeding $60^{\circ}$ was higher than the predictions obtained from the equations of CEB-FIP provision. Considering the constructability and bond behavior of the V-shpaed tie bar, the bending angle and embedment length of such bar can be optimally recommended as $45^{\circ}$ and 6db, respectively, where db is the diameter of the tie bar.
This paper presents the experimental results of behavior of square CFT columns with large the width-ro thickness ratio strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP) sheets subjected to concentrated axial loading. The main parameters were b/t ratio and the number of CFRP layers and 6 specimens were fabricated. The values of b/t were ranged from 60 to 100. From the tests, Maximum increase of 16% was also achieved in axial-load capacity with three transverse layered CFRP applied on four sides of steel tubes. The load capacity decreased up to 41% comparing with nominal load capacity of unstrengthened CFT column. However, for CFRP strengthened CFT, the load capacity decreased up to 32%. Finally, from the load-strain relationships, the local buckling occurred before yield point of steel tubes. Also, from the load-strain relationships, it was observed that local buckling were delayed on CFT columns by CFRP sheets retrofitting.
Longitudinal shear failure is the most common failure-type in composite slabs. In this paper, the shear-connection behavior of composite slabs with a particular profiled steel sheeting, so called ACE-DECK, having a depth of 60mm is studied experimentaly. Twenty two pull-out test specimens of different shapes, concrete topping thickness, and different steel sheeting thickness are carried out. It is founded that the shear connection behavior of composite slabs are not affected significantly in the steel sheeting thickness and concrete topping thickness. A new type of profiled steel sheeting is more effective in shear-bond strength that of existing flat-type deck plate, which can offer longitudinal shear strength in composite slope up to $3.6kgf/cm^2$
In order to investigate the behaviour of lying multi-stud connectors in cable-pylon anchorage zone, twenty-four push-out tests are carried out with different stud numbers and diameters. The effect of concrete block width and tensile force on shear strength is investigated using the developed and verified finite element model. The results show that the shear strength of the lying multi-stud connectors is reduced in comparison with the lying single-stud connector. The reduction increases with the increasing of the number of studs in the vertical direction. The influence of the stud number on the strength reduction of the lying multi-stud connectors is decreased under combined shear and tension loads compared with under pure shear. Yet, due to multi-stud effect, they still can't be ignored. The concrete block width has a non-negligible effect on the shear strength of the lying multi-stud connectors and therefore should be chosen properly when designing push-out specimens. No obvious difference is observed between the strength reductions of the studs with 22 mm and 25 mm diameters. The shear strengths obtained from the tests are compared with those predicted by AASHTO LRFD and Eurocode 4. Eurocode 4 generally gives conservative predictions of the shear strength, while AASHTO LRFD overestimates the shear strength. In addition, the lying multi-stud connectors with the diameters of 22 m and 25 mm both exhibit adequate ductility according to Eurocode 4. An expression of load-slip curve is proposed for the lying multi-stud connectors and shows good agreement with the test results.

There exist many construction joints in segmentally constructed bridge girders. It is required coupling of tendons or overlapping of tendons to introduce continuous prestress through several spans of bridges. Even though tendon coupling method is easier to use in practice, some cracking problems around construction joints have been reported and complicated stress states around construction joints in PSC girders is not clearly investigated. The purpose of this paper is to investigate in detail the complicated longitudinal stress distributions around the construction joints in prestressed concrete girders with tendon couplers. To this end, a comprehensive experimental program has been set up and a series of specimens have been tested to identify the effects of tendon coupling and segmental construction of bridge sections. The present study indicates that the longitudinal stress distributions of PSC girders with tendon couplers are quite different from those of PSC girders without tendon couplers. The longitudinal compressive stresses introduced by prestressing are greatly reduced around coupled joints according to tendon coupling ratios.
The current seismic design code prescribes that coupling beam should be reinforced using diagonally bundled bars. However, the use of a diagonally bundled bars has a negative effect on constructability and economic efficiency. In the present study, the seismic performance of 4 coupling beams with the different details of reinforcement was evaluated through a cyclic reversal loading test. The specimens were constructed to measure the results of the experimental variable regarding the details of shear reinforcement. Next, the seismic performance of the coupled shear wall system evaluated by methods proposed in the FEMA P695. The cyclic reversal loading test results of this study showed that the performance of coupling beams with relaxed reinforcement detail was almost similar to that of a coupling beam with the ACI detail and meet the level which requested from standard. The result of the seismic evaluation showed that all coupling beams are satisfied with the design code and seismic performance.

The objective of this study offer the equation of the development length for GFRP reinforcement. Pullout test carried out to propose the development length for GFRP reinforcement. Test variables included embedment length (L=15, 30 and 45d$_b$ ), pure cover thickness(C=0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0d$_b$ ), diameter of reforcement(D10, D13 and D16), and three types, (domestic : K2KR, K3KR, foreign : AsUS) of GFRP reinforcement. The method of test were introduced pure pullout and tests lasted until the GFRP reinforcements were reached final failure. Based on the results through the pullout test, the bond characteristics and average bond stress for GFRP reinforcement were investigated. The equation of development length was proposed based on the regression analysis selected specimens having splitting failure. The equation gained from this study compared with the design equation provided by ACI committee 440.1R-06. The results through this study are capable of the flexural member design with GFRP reinforcement having lab spliced.

This paper studied experimentally on the structural performance and serviceability of RC beams with high-strength reinforcing bars. Following to the previous research, high-strength reinforcing bars have an negative effect on the deflection and crack depth. But, there are advantages about reducing amount of reinforcement than normal-strength reinforcing bars. So, the purpose of this paper is to analyze the effect of flexural performance on the beams with high-strength reinforcing bars. Three specimens were tested, and the main variable was the yield strength of the reinforcements; SD400, SD600 and SD700. Experimental results shows that the stiffness of members reduced when apply to high-strength reinforcement and equal reinforcement ratio. But the flexural strength of members increased to proportion to the strength and amount of reinforcement. Also, when high-strength reinforcement used, serviceability aspect do not appear to be affected because there is no change for crack number and maximum crack width.
