  • The helicopter development technology is improved by the increasing of computing power and advanced test facilities. The increasing efficiency of fuel consuming by the developing of improved lift-to-drag rotor system is the major issue, the noise reduction for ecology(civil area) and increase of survivability to reduce noise detection(battlefield) also are important. This investigation shows the helicopter external noise flight test methods, conventional military helicopter's(UH-60) experimental results and the numerical modeling method for aero-acoustic of rotor blade and the result of CAA(Computational Aero-Acoustic) for main rotor blade.

  • Macao, a city with three sides bounded by water, is hot and humid in weather in more than six months of a year. This uncomfortable weather induces the frequency of operating air-conditioners. Choice of location for installation of air-conditioner in a building will affect the performance of cooling effect and thermal comfort on the occupants, which in turn will affect the indoor air quality (IAQ) of the building. In the paper, investigation of distribution on carbon dioxide, room air temperature and velocity, as well as air diffusion performance index (ADPI) of a single bedroom in Macao is studied by using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software FLOVENT 3.2. Simulations of locating the air-conditioner at 4 different walls will be done and comparisons and analyses of the results will be performed to decide a proper location for the air-conditioner for obtaining good thermal comfort.

  • This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation pertaining to the creep behavior of fiber-reinforced polymeric (FRP) pultruded components subjected to sustained eccentric axial loading. Six different axial load/eccentricity combinations were investigated through the experiments. The test duration of these experiments was 2,000 hours (90 days), during which the mid-height lateral deflections of the components were recorded continually. Analytical formulations based on the Schapery's quasielastic method and a power law model were used for the prediction of the creep lateral deflection.

  • Motivated by the field experimental designs in agriculture, the theory of block designs has been applied to several areas such as statistics, combinatorics, communication networks, distributed systems, cryptography, etc. An explicit formula and its fast computational algorithm for a class of symmetric balanced incomplete block designs are presented. Based on the formula and the careful investigation of the modulus multiplication table, the algorithm is developed. The computational costs of the algorithm is superior to those of the conventional ones.
