This paper describes an informatlon compression of electrically evoked myoelectric signal, M-wave. This wave shows a direct response m lato-response of nerve conductlQn study and has a characteristic with finite time support. M-wave is a useful factor for investing neurodi~ease and is often desirable to have a compact description of its shape and time evolution. The aim of this paper is to show that the AR modeling IS a effective method for compressing an information of M-wave. First, AR model parameters of real M-wave are estimated. And then. they are verified by approximatmg a M-wave using estimated AR parameters and by comparing to other melhod, Hermite tlansform[4]. To concretely evaluate the proposed method, the NMSE(normalized mean square error) of approximation curves are compared. As a result, AR modeling is effective for M-wave assessment because of its capability for the information compression.

Two modes of shock waves, a compression shock wave and a thermal shock wave, propagating in He II have been investigated. The shock waves are at a time generated by the impingement of a gasdynamic shock wave onto a He II free surface in the newly developed superfluid shock tube facility. Superconductive temperature sensors, piezo-type pressure transducers and visualization photograph were used for the measurement of them and the phenomena induced by them were investigated in detail. It is found that the compression by a compression shock wave in He II causes temperature drop because He II has negative thermal expansion coefficient. the thermal shock wave is found to be of a single triangular waveform with a limited shock strength. The waveform is similar to that generated by stepwise strong heating from an electrical heater for relatively long heating time. In the experiments at the temperatures near the lambda temperature, no thermal shock wave is sometimes detected in shock compressed He II. It can be understood that shock compression makes He Ii convert to He I in which no thermal shock wave is excited.
Recently, as the high speed railway becomes more common, new environmental problems such as noise around tunnels are appearing. When a high speed train enters a tunnel, a compression wave in the tunnel is generated and propagated toward the tunnel exit at a sonic speed. When it reaches the tunnel exit, a part of compression wave radiates as a pulse typed impulse wave to the outside of tunnel. The impulse wave has an explosive noise. When the impulse wave is propagated around a village, it induces a serious noise or other problems to the resident. In order to solve these engineering problems, it is important to investigate the radiation characteristics of the impulse wave radiated from the tunnel exit. In this study, the effect of the length and angle of the baffle plate at the tunnel exit on the impulse wave radiated from the tunnel exit was investigated by numerical analysis. As a results, the baffle plate greatly affected the propagation of impulse wave.

When a high-speed train enters a tunnel, a compression wave is generated. This wave subsequently emerges from the exit portal of the tunnel, which causes an impulsive noise called 'Sonic boom' or 'micro-pressure wave'. In the present study, new method is presented for prediction of sonic boom noise, especially focusing on the effect of the nose shape of the train on the resultant noise. Acoustic theory for monopole source is used to represent a nose shape of the train in wave equation. Compression wave propagation in tunnel considering tunnel track condition and emission of sonic boom was calculated. The predicted compression waves and impulsive sound waves are compared with recent measurements, and show reasonable agreements.

The compression wave produced when a high-speed train enters a tunnel propagates along the tunnel ahead of the train. The micro pressure wave related to the compression wave is a special physics phenomena created by high-speed train-tunnel interfaces. A among methods for the purpose of reducing the micro pressure wave is to delay the gradient of the compression wave by using aerodynamic structures. The objective of this paper is to determine the optimum slanted portal using the moving model rig. According to the results, the maximum value of micro pressure wave is reduced by 19.2% for the $45^{\circ}$ slanted portal installed at the entrance of the tunnel and reduced by 41.9% for the $45^{\circ}$ slanted portals at the entrance and exit of the tunnel. Also it is reduced by 34.6% for the $30^{\circ}$ slanted portals installed at the entrance and exit of the tunnel.
When a train enters into a tunnel, a compression wave is generated by a front nose and a expansion wave is generated by a rear tail respectively. The interaction between pressure waves and the train makes the internal and external pressure of the train change dramatically. In this paper, we had measured the internal and external pressure variations of TTX and analyzed the pressure variations as the tunnel length. Also, the rate of internal pressure variations were investigated with the current airtight condition of TTX. In short tunnels, the internal and external pressure variation were not large because the superposition of pressure waves was not happened. In long tunnels, however, the rapid and large pressure variations were shown because of the superpositions between the same sort of pressure waves, such as expansion wave and expansion wave or compression wave and compression wave. In specific length tunnels, the pressure variation and the pressure variation rates were largely lessened because the compression wave and expansion wave were superposed.

Shear wave velocities of three selected sandy soils subject to drained triaxial compression test were continuously measured using the bender elements. The shear wave velocity during isotropic compression, as widely recognized, increased as confining pressure increased and they were correlated well. However, during drained shearing, the mean effective stress could no further provide a suitable correlation. The shear wave velocity during this stage was almost constant with respect to the mean effective stress. The vertical stress was found to be more favorable at this stage (since confining stress was kept constant). When sample was attained its peak stress, the shear wave velocity reduced and deviated from the previously existed trend line. This was probably caused by the non-uniformity induced by the formation of shear band. Subsequently, void ratios computed based on external measurements could not provide reasonable fitting to the initial stage of post-peak shear wave velocity. At very large strain levels after shear band formation, the digital images revealed that sample may internally re-arrange itself to be in a more uniform loose stage. This final stage void ratio estimated based on the proposed correlation derived during pre-peak state was close to the value of the maximum void ratio.

In order to investigate the impulsive noise at the exit of high-speed railway tunnel and the pressure transients inside the tunnel, numerical calculations using a Total Variation Dimishing difference scheme were applied to axisymmetric unsteady compressible flow field. Some compression wave forms were assumed to model the compression wave produced in real high-speed railway tunnel. The numerical data were extensively explored to analyze the peak over-pressure and maximum pressure gradient in the pressure wavefront. The effect of the distance and cross-sectional area ratio between two-continuous ducts on the characteristics of the pressure waves were investigated. The peak over-pressure inside the second duct decreases for the distance and cross-sectional area ratio between two tunnels to increase. The peak over-pressure and maximum pressure gradient of the pressure wavefront inside the second duct increase as the maximum pressure gradient of initial compression wave increases. The present results were qualitatively well agreed with the results of the previous shock tube experiment.
An axisymmetric flow induced by a train moving into a tunnel is numerically simulated. The effect of train shape on wavefront of a compression wave created by a train is investigated parametrically using several model trains having the same nose shape but different blockage. The zonal method combined with the Fortified Solution Algorithm (FSA) is employed as a numerical algorithm to solve this moving body problem. The computational result is compared with the experimental data. Good agreement is obtained, which justifies the present computational approach. The compression waves created by the model trains are compared and the result shows that the pressure gradient of the wavefront of the compression wave becomes small in the case of small blockage even though the nose shape is same. The wavefront is not determined solely by the cross-sectional area distribution of the train nose.
