Study on stability and free vibration behavior of porous FGM beams

  • In this paper, buckling and free vibration of imperfect, functionally graded beams, including porosities, are investigated, using a higher order shear strain theory. Due to defects during the manufacturing process, micro porosities may appear in the material, hence the appearance of this imperfection in the structure. The material properties of the beams are assumed to vary regularly, with power and sigmoid law, in the direction of thickness. A novel porosity distribution affecting the functionally graded volume fraction is presented. For the compact formulation used for cementite-based materials and already used in P-FGM, we have adapted it for the distribution of S-FGM. The equations of motion in the FG beam are derived using Hamilton's principle. The boundary conditions for beam FG are assumed to be simply supported. Navier's solution is used to obtain the closed form solutions of the FG beam. The numerical results of this work are compared with those of other published research to verify accuracy and reliability. The comparisons of different shear shape functions, the influence of porosity, thickness and inhomogeneity parameters on buckling and free vibration of the FG beam are all discussed. It is established that the present work is more precise than certain theories developed previously.

BaTiO3-Poly Vinylidene Fluoride 복합 압전발전기의 출력특성에 미치는 배합비와 분극의 효과 (Effects of Mixing Ratio and Poling on Output Characteristics of BaTiO3-Poly Vinylidene Fluoride Composite Piezoelectric Generators)

  • BaTiO3-Poly vinylidene fluoride (PVDF) solution was prepared by adding 0~25 wt% BaTiO3 nanopowder and 10 wt% PVDF powder in solvent. BaTiO3-PVDF film was fabricated by spreading the solution on a glass with a doctor blade. The output performance increased with increasing BaTiO3 concentration. When the BaTiO3 concentration was 20 wt%, the output voltage and current were 4.98 V and 1.03 ㎂ at an applied force of 100 N. However, they decreased when the over 20 wt% BaTiO3 powder was added, due to the aggregation of particles. To enhance the output performance, the generator was poled with an electric field of 150~250 kV/cm at 100 ℃ for 12 h. The output performance increased with increasing electric field. The output voltage and current were 7.87 V and 2.5 ㎂ when poled with a 200 kV/cm electric field. This result seems likely to be caused by the c-axis alignment of the BaTiO3 after poling treatment. XRD patterns of the poled BaTiO3-PVDF films showed that the intensity of the (002) peak increased under high electric field. However, when the generator was poled with 250 kV/cm, the output performance of the generator degraded due to breakdown of the BaTiO3-PVDF film. When the generator was matched with 800 Ω resistance, the power density of the generator reached 1.74 mW/m2. The generator was able to charge a 10 ㎌ capacitor up to 1.11 V and turn on 10 red LEDs.

소형디젤기관의 배출가스 저감을 위한 복합재생방식 DPF의 실차적용 연구 (Research on Actual Vehicle Application of Composite Regenerative DPF for Reducing Exhaust Gases of Light-duty Diesel Engines)

  • As awareness of environmental pollution problems increases worldwide, interest in air pollutants is increasing. In particular, NOx and PM, which are major pollutants in diesel vehicles, are contributing significantly to emissions. As a result, its importance is increasing. In this study, based on research results applied to large diesel vehicles, the problem of natural regeneration caused by low exhaust gas temperature during low speed and low load operation is solved by applying a complex regeneration DPF that is not affected by temperature conditions to small diesel vehicles. The feasibility of application to small diesel vehicles was reviewed by measuring the emission reduction efficiency. As a result of the engine test, the power reduction rate and fuel consumption rate before and after device installation under full load conditions were 2.9% decrease and 3.5% increase, respectively, satisfying the standard for a 5% reduction, and as a result of the regeneration equilibrium temperature (BPT) test, the regeneration temperature was 310℃. appeared at the level. The reduction efficiency test results for the actual vehicle durability test equipment showed 97.3% PM, 51.0% CO, and 31.1% HC, while the city commuter vehicle had PM 97.5%, CO 61.7%, HC 40.0%, and the school bus vehicle had PM 96.8%, CO 44.4%, HC 34.3%, and low-speed logistics vehicles showed a reduction efficiency of 98.2% for PM, 36.0% for CO, and 45.7% for HC. Based on the results of this study, in the future, it is necessary to secure DPF technology suitable for all vehicle types through actual vehicle application research on temperature condition-insensitive composite regenerative DPF for medium-sized vehicles.

동특성 분석을 위한 합성단면을 갖는 교량구조물의 FE 모델링 기법 (A Study on FE Modeling Techniques of Steel Plate Girder Bridge with Composite Section for the Dynamic Analysis)

  • 모델링을 통한 교량구조물의 동적인 특성은 주로 구조물의 기학학적 형상에서 계산된 강성과 질량에 의해서 결정된다. 따라서 본 연구는 합성단면을 갖는 강판형거더교량의 FE 모델링 기법을 제시하고 제시된 모델링 기법은 실계측된 동특성과 비교 분석하여 유용성을 제시했다. 제시된 FE 모델링 기법은 단순화된 1-2차원 모델과 3차원 상세모델로 구분하여 각각의 기법을 제안하고 유용성을 보여 주었다. 구조물의 동적 응답은 상부 슬래브를 지지하는 거더에 가속도계를 부착하여 일반 차량하중 상태에서 발생하는 상시 진동에 의해 측정되었다. 이렇게 측정된 교차파워스펙트럼을 역퓨리에 변환에 의해 교차상관함수로 변환하여 구조물의 특성을 분석하였다. 이들결과는 FE모델링의 결과와 비교하여 제안된 모델링 기법의 유용성을 제시하였다.

MF-DCCA ANALYSIS OF INVESTOR SENTIMENT AND FINANCIAL MARKET BASED ON NLP ALGORITHM

  • In this paper, we adopt the MF-DCCA (Multifractal Detrended Cross-Correlation Analysis) method to study the nonlinear correlation between the returns of financial stock markets and investors' sentiment index (SI). The return series of Shanghai Securities Composite Index (SSEC) of China, Shenzhen Securities Component Index (SZI) of China, Nikkei 225 Index (N225) of Japan, and Standard & Poor's 500 Index (S&P500) of the United States are adopted. Firstly, we preliminarily analyze the correlation between SSEC and SI through the Pearson correlation coefficient. In addition, by MF-DCCA, we observe a power-law correlation between investors' sentiment index and SSEC stock market returns, with a significant multifractal correlation. Besides, SI series and SSEC return series have positive persistence. We compare the differences in multifractal cross-correlation between SI and stock return sequences in different markets. We found that the values of SZI-SI in terms of cross-correlation persistence and cross-correlation strength are relatively close to those of SSEC-SI, while the Hxy(2), ∆Hxy, and ∆αxy of N225-SI and S&P500 are much smaller than those of SSEC-SI and SZI-SI. This reason is related to the fact that the investors' sentiment index originated from the Shanghai Composite Index Tieba. The SI is obtained through natural language processing method. Finally, we study the rolling of Hxy(2) and ∆αxy. Results indicate that the macroeconomic environment may cause fluctuations in two sequences of Hxy(2) and ∆αxy.

포도씨의 총페놀 성분, 항산화능 및 아질산염소거능에 대한 마이크로웨이브 추출조건 예측 (Prediction of the Optimum Conditions for Microwave-Assisted Extraction of the Total Phenolic Content and Antioxidative and Nitrite-scavenging Abilities of Grape Seed)

  • 포도씨에 함유된 항산화 및 아질산염소거성분에 대한 마이크로웨이브 최적 추출조건을 예측하고자, 추출조건(microwave power 0~120 W, 에탄올 농도 0~100%, 추출시간 1~5 min)을 독립변수로 하고 조건별 추출물의 총페놀 함량, 항산화능 및 아질산염소거능을 종속변수로 하여 회귀 분석함으로써 최적 추출조건을 예측하였다. 도출된 회귀식의 $R^2$는 0.8024-0.9498 범위로 나타났다. 추출물 기능성분들의 최대 예측값과 최적 추출조건은 총페놀 함량의 경우 3.19%(microwave power 142.32W, 에탄올농도 44.30%, 추출시간 4.23 min)와 항산화능의 경우 1.22(84.44W, 56.60%, 3.28 min)로 나타났다. 그리고 pH 1.2~3.0에서 99.5% 이상의 높은 아질산염 소거능을 보인 추출물의 최적 추출조건 범위는 microwave power 30.80~106.58W, 에탄올 농도 49.32~55.18%, 추출시간 3.72-4.58 min으로 예측되었다. 이상의 결과에서 총페놀 함량과 항산화능은 높은 상관성을 보이면서 microwave power에, 아질산염소거능은 에탄올 농도에 영향을 많이 받는 것으로 나타났다.

환경조화형 철탑 개발 (Development of Eco-friendly Electric Transmission Towers in KEPCO)

  • Lattice towers and tubular steel poles have been commonly used for electrical power transmission in Korea. They are durable, structurally stable, simple and can easily be constructed in limited spaces. However, residents are opposed to construct transmission lattice towers in their areas because they are not visually attractive, and electrical field occur at the transmission lines. Underground transmissions have been used instead of the traditional towers to resolve these problems, however they are not cost effective to construct and run. Therefore, we have developed eco-friendly towers that are more attractive, well blending into the surrounding environment, and much more economical than underground transmissions. There are four categories of the eco-friendly electric transmission towers about design aspects. Firstly, there is decoration type such as tree tower and ensemble tower. Tree tower looks like actual trees with leaves and branches so it blends into surroundings. Ensemble towers were designed after pair of crane birds. Those towers have decoration features and art works. Structural examination and manufacturing this type would be very similar to the conventional transmission towers. Secondly, there is arm design type such as traditional tower. Design features are added to the existing towers. As partial design can be adoptable on these types, it can easily meet height regulations and attach to conventional lattice towers and tubular steel poles. Also, these towers are more economical than others. Third category is multipurpose type such as Sail Tower. These towers have simple pole or tubular structure with features which can be used as information message board, public relations and much more. This type will face greater wind pressure because of the area of the board, also visibility must take into consideration. Lastly, there is moulding type such as arc pylon. It is different shape to the conventional towers - lattice towers and tubular steel poles. Dramatic design changes have been adapted - from a hard and static tower to a soft and curved tower. These towers will well stand out in the field. However, structural examination and manufacturing this type would be difficult and costly. Also certain towers of this type would require scaffolding or false work to construct, which will result in limitations of the construction area. This paper shows KEPCO 154 kV Sail tower in detail. KEPCO 154 kV Sail tower that is included in fabrication of sample tower and tower testing has developed and the results are presented in this paper. We hope that sail tower is also considered as a solution to have public acceptance or to create a familiar atmosphere among towers and people in coastal area.

연료극 지지형 고체산화물 연료전지의 전기화학적 특성 (Electrochemical Characteristics of Anode-supported Solid Oxide Fuel Cells)

  • 기체/전해질/LSM $(La_{0.85}Sr_{0.15}MnO_3)$ 공기극이 만나는 삼상계면 (triple phase boundary) 주위에 YSZ ($8mol\%$ yttria stabilized zirconia) 코팅막 (coating film) 을 형성하여 추가로 삼상계면을 크게 늘린 새로운 전극 미세구조를 갖는 복합 공기극 (composite cathode) 을 개발하였다. 이 복합 공기극을 전해질 두께가 약 $30{\mu}m$인 연료극 (anode)v 지지체 위에 형성하여 $700\~800{\circ}C$의 온도에서 전류전압 특성 및 교류 임피던스 분석을 실시하였다. $800^{\circ}$, 공기 및 수소 조건에서 교류 임피던스 분석 결과 1000Hz주파수 영역을 대변하는 저항성분 R1은 연료극 분극 저항에 해당하였고 100Hz주파수 영역의 저항성분 R2는 공기극 분극 저항 성분, 그리고 10Hz이하 영역의 저항성분 R3는 전극을 통한 기체확산 저항성분으로 특히, 작동 조건인 공기 및 수소 분위기에서는 연료극 쪽 반응기체에 의한 기체확산 저항 성분임을 알 수 있었다. 전지성능 측정 결과 이 복합 공기극을 장착한 전지는 $800^{\circ}C$, 공기 및 산소 조건에서 각각 $0.55W/cm^2$ $1W/cm^2$의 높은 전지성능을 나타내었다. 전류전압 곡선은 기울기가 다른 두 구간으로 구분되었으며, 낮은 전류밀도 하에서 보이는 급격한 전압감소 구간은 공기극 분극저항이 주된 성능 저하의 원인인 반면, 높은 전류밀도 하에서 나타나는 완만한 전압 감소 구간은 전해질에 관련된 분극저항이 주된 성능 저하의 원인이었다.

우치치질에 레이저조사시 레진과의 결합강도에 관한 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Effect of Laser to Bond Strength between Composite Resin and Bovine Teeth)

  • The purpose of this study is to measure the bonding strength at the enamel and dentin of extracted bovine incisors when they are irradiated by W Nd: YAG, EoQ Nd: YAG, and CW $CO_2$ laser, etched and then attached by composite resin. The laser-irradiated surface, the etched surface after the laser-irradiation and the interface of the treated surface and resin are observed by using scanning electron microscope. The NP Nd:YAG laser is used at the peam power of 207 KW. The EOQ Nd: YAG laser is used at the peak power of 1.15Mk. The CW $CO_2$ laser is used at the energy output of 5W and 10W in enamel; in dentin, at the energy output of 2W. The obtained results were as follows: 1. The shear bond strength of enamel decreased in the following order: EOQ Nd:YAG laser group, NP Nd:YAG laser group, CW $CO_2$ laser groups, unlased group. The unlased group showed a significant difference from EOQ Nd:YAG laser group (P<0.01), NP Nd:YAG laser group (P<0.05), but no significant difference from CW $CO_2$ laser group (P>0.05). 2. The shear bond strength of dentin decreased in the following order: CW $CO_2$ laser group, NP Nd:YAG laser group, unlased group, EOQ Nd:YAG laser group. The unlased group showed a significant difference from CW $CO_2$ laser group (P<0.01), but no significant difference from Nd:YAG laser groups (P>0.05). 3. The scanning electron microscope of enamel revealed irregular microcrack and pore at the surface in the NP Nd:YAG laser group and CW $CO_2$ laser group, but the crackless flat surface in the EOQ Nd:YAG laser group. 4. The scanning electron microscope of dentin revealed obstruction of in most of dentinal tubule and decrease of diameter. 5. The scanning electron microscope of the interface of resin and enamel revealed prominent penetration of resin tag in the EOQ Nd:YAG laser group.

도로 융설체 개발을 위한 탄소나노튜브-시멘트 복합체 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (A Feasibility Study on Developing Snow Melting Systems using CNT-Cement Composite)

  • PURPOSES : This study aims to review the possibility of developing a road snow-melting system that can prevent slip accidents by maintaining a constant temperature of the winter roads and enhance performance of structures, including improvement of compressive strength by mixing carbon nanotube (hereafter referred to as CNT) with cement paste, the basic material. METHODS : To achieve the above purpose, an experiment was conducted by mixing power-type CNT and wrap-type CNT up to cement paste formulation by weight of 0.0wt%~4.1wt% in accordance with "KS L ISO 679(of cement strength test method)", and compressive strength was measured at 28 days of curing. In addition, the volume resistivity of the specimen was measured to test thermal and electrical characteristics, and the rate of temperature changes in specimen surface by power consumption was measured by passing electricity through the cross-sections of the specimen. Meanwhile, the criteria for checking the performance as a road snow-melting system was determined as volume resistivity of $100{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ or less. RESULTS : A comparative analysis between specimen with 0wt% CNT content in plain status and specimen containing various types of CNTs was carried out. From its results, it was found that compressive strength increased approximately 19%, showing the highest rate when 0.2wt% of wrap-type CNT was contained, but volume resistivity of $100{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ or less appeared only in specimens containing more than 0.2wt% CNT. In addition, it was observed that the surface temperature increased by $4.62^{\circ}C$ per minute on average in specimens containing 3.2wt% CNT. CONCLUSIONS : In this study, CNT was examined as an underlying material for a road snow-melting system, and the possibility of developing the road now-melting system was reviewed by conducting various experiments using CNT-Cement composites. From the experimental results, the specimens were found to have a superior performance when compared to the existing road snow-melting systems that place the heat transfer medium such as copper on the road. However, satisfactory strength performance were not obtained from the specimen containing CNT(2.0% or more) that functions as a heating element, which leads to the need for reviewing methods to increase the strength by using plasticizer or admixture.
