무선 센서 네트워크에서 통신량 감소를 위한 적응적 데이터 제한 기법 (An Adaptive Temporal Suppression for Reducing Network Traffic in Wireless Sensor Networks)

  • 무선 센서 네트워크의 응용분야가 확장됨에 따라 대용량 측정 데이터의 전송에 대하여 에너지 효율성과 실시간성이 요구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 센서 노드의 수집 데이터가 갖는 시간적 상관관계를 이용하여 센서 노드의 데이터 전송량을 감소시킴으로써, 에너지 효율성을 높이고 통신 지연을 단축시킬 수 있는 적응적 데이터 제한기법을 제안한다. 센서 노드에서는 적응적 데이터 제한기법을 이용하여 전송하는 측정값의 개수를 줄이고, 싱크 노드에서는 선형 보간법을 통하여 누락된 데이터를 복원한다. 제안하는 기법은 전송량 감소효과가 높아지더라도 데이터 품질의 큰 저하 없이 측정된 신호의 특성을 복원할 수 있다. 이 기법은 센서 데이터를 일정 구간으로 나누고, 그 구간 안에서 신호의 복잡도에 따라 싱크 노드로 전송하는 측정값의 개수를 다르게 한다. 측정 윈도우 내에서 신호의 복잡도는 기울기 변화량의 절대값이 임계치를 벗어나는 측정점의 개수를 기준으로 하였다. 제안하는 기법의 유효성을 확인하기 위해 4개의 샘플 데이터에 대하여 시뮬레이션을 통한 성능평가를 수행하였으며, 그 결과 3종의 샘플에서 6.8% 왜곡율에서 전송되는 측정값의 개수가 90%감소하는 효과를 얻었다.

Spatial and Temporal Aspects of Phytoplankton Blooms in Complex Ecosystems Off the Korean Coast from Satellite Ocean Color Observations

  • Complex physical, chemical and biological interactions off the Korean coast created several striking patterns in the phytoplankton blooms, which became conspicuous during the measurements of ocean color from space. This study concentrated on analyzing the spatial and temporal aspects of phytoplankton chlorophyll variability in these areas using an integrated dataset from a Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS), Advanced Very High Resolution (AVHRR) sensor, and Conductivity Temperature Depth (CTD) sensor. The results showed that chlorophyll concentrations were elevated in coastal and open ocean regions, with strong summer and fall blooms, which appeared to spread out in most of the enclosed bays and neighboring waters due to certain oceanographic processes. The chlorophyll concentration was observed to range between 3 and $54\;mg\;m^{-3}$ inside Jin-hae Bay and adjacent coastal bays and 0.5 and $8\;mg\;m^{-3}$ in the southeast sea offshore waters, this gradual decrease towards oceanic waters suggested physical transports of phytoplankton blooms from the shallow shelves to slope waters through the influence of the Tsushima Warm Current (TWC) along the Tsushima Strait. Horizontal distribution of potential temperature $(\theta)$ and salinity (S) of water off the southeastern coast exhibited cold and low saline surface water $(\theta and warm and high saline subsurface water $({\theta}>12^{\circ}C; S>34.4)$ at 75dBar, corroborating TWC intrusion along the Tsushima Strait. An eastward branch of this current was called the East Korean Warm Current (EKWC), tracked with the help of CTD data and satellite-derived sea surface temperature, which often influenced the dynamics of mesoscale anticyclonic eddy fields off the Korean east coast during the summer season. The process of such mesoscale anticyclonic eddy features might have produced interior upwelling that could have shoaled and steepened the nutricline, enhancing phytoplankton population by advection or diffusion of nutrients in the vicinity of Ulleungdo in the East Sea.

Feasibility study of wide-band low-profile ultrasonic sensor with flexible piezoelectric paint

  • This paper presents a feasibility study of flexible piezoelectric paint for use in wide-band low-profile surface-mount or embeddable ultrasonic sensor for in situ structural health monitoring. Piezoelectric paint is a piezoelectric composite with 0-3 connectivity. Because of its ease of application, piezoelectric paint can be readily fabricated into sensing element with complex pattern. This study examines the characteristics of piezoelectric paint in acoustic emission signal and ultrasonic guided wave sensing. A series of ultrasonic tests including pitch catch and pencil break tests were performed to validate the ultrasonic wave sensing capability of piezoelectric paint. The results of finite element simulation of ultrasonic wave propagation, and acoustic emission generated by a pencil lead break on an aluminum plate are also presented in this paper along with corresponding experimental data. Based on the preliminary experimental results, the piezoelectric paint appears to offer a promising sensing material for use in real-time monitoring of crack initiation and propagation in both metallic and composite structures.

  • We often use induction motor in the hard environment including vibration and high ambient temperature, or in maintenance free operation, because induction motor has durable and simple structure. However, when we use it as servo actuator or accurate speed control motor, we have to equip sensor such as encoder and tachogenerator with the motor control system. And generally those sensor's abilities against bad environment are less than the induction motor itself, So if we can remove these sensors from the system, it'll have more environmental resistance, and the cost will also be reduced. Actually this removal has been achieved in limited field. However, that needs complex calculations and a certain elapse time for data processing. In our study, we intended to estimate the rotational speed from the motor current instead of speed sensor, easily and rapidly in comparison to former methods.

However, there are complex and time-consuming problems with measurement methods. Therefore, high frequency moisture sensor was used for quick and high measurement, and unit-water content of mortar was evaluated through machine running and deep running based on measurement big data.

  • 무선 센서네트워크 기술의 발달과 센서네트워크 응용서비스의 성장에 따라, 다양한 이종 복합 센서로부터 획득 되는 센서 데이터의 융합 및 신호처리 알고리즘에 대한 연구 필요성이 증가하고 있다. 특히 복잡한 신호처리 알고리즘 수행의 필요성이 증가함에 따라 신호처리 전용 프로세서의 적용 및 데이터처리에 대한 연구가 증가하고 있다. 그러나 전용프로세서를 사용하는 경우 배터리로 동작하는 센서네트워크의 특성상 운용시간이 제약된다. 본 연구는 신호처리 전용 프로세서를 사용하는 센서네트워크 응용에서 전력 소모로 인한 운용시간 제약의 문제를 극복하기 위해, 운용 중 전원 제어가 가능한 하이브리드 센서모듈 아키텍처 및 이벤트 발생에 따른 웨이크업/슬립 기반 데이터처리 프레임워크를 제시하고, 실제 제안 된 센서노드 플랫폼을 구현하고, 성능을 제시 한다.

  • This paper presents a technique for estimating the attitude of a model helicopter at near hovering using a combination of inertial and non-inertial sensors such as gyroscope and potentiometer. To estimate the attitude of helicopter a simplified indirect Kalman filter based on sensor modeling is derived and the characteristics of sensors are studied, which are used in determining the optimal Kalman gain. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm simulation results are presented with real flight data. Our approach avoids a complex dynamic modeling of helicopter and allows for an elegant combination of various sensor data with different measurement frequencies. We also describe the method of implementation of the algorithm in the model helicopter.

  • Urban is more intelligent continuously with the help of the convergence with IT technology. And it requires an integrated control system, which can manage urban facilities or monitor large-scale events based on GIS data, to provide its citizen with various ubiquitous services such as u-Health, u-Traffic, context-awareness etc. In order to realize the intelligent city geo-sensors that have the functionalities of generic sensing as well as location awareness will be established everywhere in the near future. Our system we presented have a rule engine to handle a atomic event as well as complex events that contain control flow or branch among them. And it can allow for visualization and monitoring the results through KML (Keyhole Mark-up Language) in the Google Maps. This paper describes au-GIS event processing system that can deal effectively with u-GIS events coming from various geo-sensor data in ubiquitous computing environments.

스마트 스페이스에서 미지의 태그 위치 오차 보정 (Error Revision of the Unknown Tag Location in Smart Space)

  • In this paper, we propose the location measurement algorithm of unknown tag based on RFID (Radio-Frequency IDentification) by using RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) and TDOA (Time Difference of Arrival) and extended Kalman filter in smart space. To do this, first, we recognize the location of unknown tag by using the RSSI and TDOA recognition methods. Second, we set the coordinate of the tag location measured by using trilateration and SX algorithm. But the tag location data measured by this method are included complex environmental error. So, we use the extended Kalman filter in order to revise error data of the tag location. Finally, we validate the applicability of the proposed method though the simulation in a complex environment.
