  • The purpose of this research is to create a polyester sample book that serves as a point of reference that exporters in the Taegu area can allude to when exporting to the U.S. By getting this project off the ground, we can expect to make a worthy contribution to the manufacture of high-quality, value-added fashion & textile goods. The research was conducted as follows. First, a study was carried out in the local market ensued by consumer surveys with regards to consumer attitude on man-made fibers, market researches, and interviews with experts, all in conjunction with the Color Association of the U.S. Also, a diverse array of fabric swatches were collected from Manhattans fabric wholesalers and then classified by color and fabric type fur the sample book. In short, this research found that man-made fibers have full marketability in the U.S. Thus, in order for Taegus synthetic textile firms to be successful in exporting to the US, it is essential that they come up with fabrics that have properties resembling natural fibers such as having a soft hand, natural sheen, smooth draping, and diverse textures as well as being in line with the current trends. In addition, it is also necessary to develop fabrications that are versatile and functional. Thus, by developing innovative fabrications, the synthetic textile business will turn toward the production of high-quality synthetics and will also provide a platfrom for strengthening the competitive edge of Koreas textile & fashion business.

Most textile firms for the korean traditional clothes were located in Gongju for man-made fibers and in Jinju for silk fabrics. 2) The size of the textile industry in terms of the number of business produc-tion amount the number of employee de-creased during 1994 and 1995 due to the decreasing demand. 3) Over the half of the textile firms produced raw fabric products while only 20% of them were involved in additional dyeing and /or printing finish which re-sulted in low value added production 4) The R&D effort of the textile indus-try for the Korean traditional clothes was very low due to the market uncertainty lack of technological knowledge and most of all small size of the firms 5) Most raw materials for the textile in -dustry were imported with high(25%) tariff rates resulting in price increase and thus low competitiveness in the market. 6) The textile producers sole about the 70% of their products to the wholesalers while selling the rest to the retailers di-rectly. This showed the dual structure of the distribution channel in the textile products. These results suggested some implica-tions for the firms the policy makers and the researchers. The firms should develop new and improved products to increase and create consumer demand by intensive R&D efforts. The government policy ma-kers should give financial supports the firms with R&D investment and legal help such as lowing tariff rate for the raw ma-terials. The researchers from the academy could help the textile industry with the advanced technological knowledge and up-date information for the consumer fashion demand.

  • Make-up illustration is a field of creativity with visible creative and artistic values; its ultimate functions include communication of information, artistic expression, and recording. Establishing the make-up illustration education environment for the twenty-first century, there is an urgent need for research and development of professional curricula for basic art education and illustration education. It is extremely important for educators and institutions teaching make-up illustration to recognize that training of highly creative and professional beau designers through systematic educational structures is the ultimate foundation for enhancing competitiveness of the beauty industry despite the present reality that there are insufficient studies and publications on beauty illustration and that there is lack of illustration lecturers and artists equipped with professional beauty knowledge. Therefore, this study was conducted to research and analyze offering of illustration subjects by 160 beauty-related vocational schools and 16 4-year undergraduate colleges in the make-up field, which is the field with most creative art activities among the three representative beauty majors, namely make-up, hair, and skin. Education of make-up illustration must not remain as simple short-term education. The curricula must be specialized for providing solid foundation of basic majors. In terms of education content, strong emphases must be made for original and creative mark-up designs as well as purposes, functions, and necessity of make-up design and illustration. The curricula must include systematic, logical and artistic elements. Through the course of this study, which researched, analyzed and proposed measures for education content of make-up illustration, it was found that make-up illustration is the most appropriate subject that fulfills both the ultimate education objectives of beauty colleges and the demand by the society for beauty professionals. It is hoped that make-up illustration is emphasized and recognized for its importance and necessity as an education subject so that similar basic major subjects will further be researched and developed for specialized education.
