Since the European Union-South Korea Free Trade Agreement entered into force in 2011, the Korean automobile market has grown rapidly, resulting in intensifying competition among companies in the market. European automakers gained price competitiveness, which intensified competition with Korean automakers. In such a situation, various studies on the Korean automobile market have been conducted, but studies such as market influencing factor analysis and consumer analysis have mainly been conducted, and there is no research on the analysis of competitive dynamics in the market. In this study, the competitive dynamics between Hyundai Motors, Kia Motors, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW, which are major automakers in the Korean automobile market, are analyzed. The competitive relationship between major automakers are modeled using the Lotka-Volterra (LV) model and the competitive dynamics over time are analyzed by applying the Moving Window. In order to explain the competitive dynamics effectively, we analyze it by subdividing it based on various influencing factors.
Purpose - The purpose of this study is to analyze and compare the international competitiveness of digital service trade between Korea and China and to help enhance the competitive advantage of digital service trade between the two countries. Design/methodology - This paper designs and establishes a comprehensive evaluation system for the international competitiveness of the Korea-China digital service trade. By using the analytical methods of combining theory and demonstration through qualitative and quantitative analysis, this paper makes a concrete and complete theoretical deconstruction and empirical measurement of its international competitiveness from the two levels of overall competitiveness and departmental competitiveness. At the same time, the study also analyzes the competitive advantages and comparative disadvantages of the two countries. Findings - It is found that South Korea has a strong competitive advantage in the sector competitiveness of digital service trade, and the export structure is reasonable and balanced, but the deficit pattern affects the overall competitiveness. China has a strong competitive advantage in the overall competitiveness of the digital service trade. However, the structural imbalance in the export sector weakens the competitiveness of the sector. Both Korea and China have the space advantage and competitive potential to enhance international competitiveness in terms of development trends. Originality/value - This paper takes the lead in solving the pain point of the relative lack of similar research topics. It demonstrates the evolution process, development trends, and structural characteristics of the digital service trade. A new combination of competitive power research methods is innovated, and a comprehensive evaluation system is established. The above innovation points show the academic theoretical value and practical application value of this study.
The objective of tole study was to compare nutritional knowledge, attitudes and food practices of competitive athletes, recreational athletes and non-participants. All students enrolled at the University of Nebraska in an Introductory Nutrition course in which sports nutrition was stressed, were asked to participate in the study. The course was typical of many introductory nutrition courses ; about two thirds of the students were from the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, and most of the students were encouraged to take this course by their advisers. The students were divided into three groups : 20 competitive athletes (mostly runners, swimmers, basketball players and football players for the University), 14 recreational athletes (who were involved in a planned exercise program at least 2 hours per week), and 19 non-participants. At the beginning of the semester, students completed a food frequency questionnaire, and a 24-hour food record based on the Food Guide Pyramid. A nutrition knowledge and attitude questionnaire was formulated specifically for this study, covering normal nutrition and sports nutrition. The results showed that consumption of foods from all Food Guide Pyramid food groups except the fats/oils/sweets group was not significantly different among the three student groups. Regarding the fats/oils/sweets group, competitive athletes consumed significantly more numbers of servings than recreational athletes, while the recreational athletes consumed significantly more than non-participants (p<0.01). The total mean scores from the nutrition attitude and knowledge questionnaire were not significantly different among the three student groups. However, combined athletes (competitive athletes and recreational athletes) obtained significantly higher scores on some of the nutrition attitude questions (p<0.05). The results of the study indicate that athletes, significantly lower scores on some of the nutrition knowledge questions (p<0.05). The results of the study indicate that athletes, whether competitive or some of the nutrition knowledge questions (p<0.05). The results of the study indicate that athletes, whether competitive or recreational, had a very positive attitude regarding the effects of nutrition on their sports performance and health: however, these athletes did not appear to apply scientific principles of sports nutrition to their diet. In conclusion, advising athletes to simply increase or decrease their intakes of certain foods is too simplistic an approach for maintenance of good health and for better sporting performance. Athletes and non-athletes need continuous nutrition education to help with improving their competitive edge and food choices.
Increasing competitive pressure, the constantly accelerating transformation of the economy, and a stronger focus on value creation have initiated the search for sustainable sources of competitive advantage in organizations. In this context, the concept of treating organizational knowledge as a valuable strategic resource has become quite popular recently. Knowledge has become the most critical component in the struggle for sustained competitive advantage and knowledge management (KM) has also been described for its possible role in creating sustainable competitive advantage. In order to examine the contingency between KM resources, KM strategies, and KM performance of organizations, a contingency model of KM, which is based on resource-based theory as well as knowledge-based theory, is developed from the information systems and strategic management literature in order to assess the following questions: (i) What KM resources affect the organization's KM strategies? (ii) Is there a relationship between KM strategies and organizational performance enhanced by KM? A detailed exploratory analysis of survey responses from 79 Korean companies provides the following significant findings: (i) This study found support for the proposed contingency model of KM; (ii) The organization's KM strategies are determined by social resources and its capabilities; (iii) An organization with a culture-based KM strategy is more likely to enhance organizational KM performance than an organization with a technology-based KM strategy.

The purpose of this study is to find out main factors affecting public enterprise's environment , which improves the performance of public enterprise. In detail, under the premises of keeping publicity in Korea Electricity Industry, the main target of this study is to seek after factors enhancing entrepreneurship and deals with publicity which is related with entrepreneurship. Questionnaires are distributed to the employee of public enterprise, public servants, and civil corps. A total of 553 copies are collected. The main contents of questionnaires are related with the effect of publicity and entrepreneurship by government control, competitive environment and shareholding structure in Korea Electricity Power Corporation(KEPCO). The results of this survey are as follows : First government control is negatively related to the entrepreneurship while it is positively related to the Publicity. Second, this suey shows that competitive environment has a Positive influence on promoting both publicity and entrepreneurship. Third this survey in connection with shareholding structure indicates that present structure in KEPCO has a positive effect on publicity but negative effect on entrepreneurship. According to this empirical results, it is verified that the main issues on the performance of KEPCO ue related with the level of government control and competitive environment in its industry.
The competitive strategies of the Korean manufacturing companies have changed from the "cost leadership" strategy in the early developing stage since 1960's to the "stuck in the middle" position since 1990's in the face of emerging new cost leaders as the Chinese companies. The data on the strategic contents of the Korean manufacturing companies show that their strategies are seeking the value innovation through not only quality improvement but also cost reduction altogether rather than selecting one on the trade-off relation between the both competitive dimensions. Their strategic actions seem to be seeking the operational efficiencies through all the value chain activities rather than the strategic effectiveness by selecting and focusing on the specific competitive dimension, which is considered as a typical strategic approach. Their strategy seems to be non-strategic in the general sense. But their non-strategically looking behaviors can be reasonable enough for their sandwiched competitive position between the global quality leaders and following cost leaders. This paper explains why their strategies can be right through the theoretical explanations by using the quality-price elasticity approaches for the consumer behaviors. We can call their strategic activities as the value innovation strategy.
In a study involving 52 large organizations in the savings institutions industry, the relationship between information systems technology(IT) structure and competitive strategy was investigated based on structural contingency theory. Two dimensions of IT structure and two types of competitive strategy were employed to test a contingency mood. It was found that enhanced congruence between IT structure and competitive strategy was associated with higher competitive advantage. The structural dimension significantly associated with the "defender" strategic stance was more centralized and more integrated application of IT, while the structural dimension significantly associated with "prospector〃 positioning was more decentralized and less integrated application of IT.lication of IT.

The Separation of two amino acids, phenylalanine and tryptophan, was carried out using laboratory simulated moving bed (SMB) chromatography. The SMB process consisted of four zones, with each zone having 2 columns. The triangle theory was used to obtain the operating conditions for the SMB. The mass transfer coefficients of the two amino acids were obtained from the best-fit values by comparing simulated and experimental pulse data. The competitive adsorption isotherms of the two amino acids were obtained by single and binary frontal analyses, taking into consideration the competition between the two components. A competitive Langmuir isotherm, obtained from single-component frontal chromatography, was used in the first run, and the isotherm from binary frontal chromatography in the second, with the flow rate of zone 1 modified to improve the purity. Compared to the first and second runs, the competitive Langmuir isotherm from the binary frontal chromatography Showed good agreement with the experimental results. Also, adjusting the flow rate in zone 1 increased the purity of the products. The purities of the phenylalanine in the raffinate and the tryptophan in the extract were 99.84 and $99.99\%$, respectively.

Two biokinetic models (\circled1 Mrichaelis-Menten kinetics with competitive inhibition \circled2 with both competitive inhibition and Haldane inhibition) for reductive dechlorination were developed and compared with results from batch kinetic tests conducted over a wide range of PCE and TCE concentrations with two different dechlorinating cultures. At PCE concentrations lower than 300 $\mu$M, both model simulated the experimental results well. However, The kinetic model that incorporated both competitive and Haldane inhibitions much better simulated experimental data for PCE concentrations greater than 300-400 $\mu$M, and TCE concentrations at half its solubility limit (4000 $\mu$M). The PM culture showed Haldane inhibition constants of 900, 6000, 7000 $\mu$M for TCE, c-DCE and VC, indicating very weak Haldane inhibition for c-DCE and VC, while the EV culture had lower Haldane inhibition constants for TCE, c-DCE, and VC of 900, 750, and 750 $\mu$M, respectively. The BM culture had better transformation abilities than the individual cultures over a wide range of PCE and TCE concentrations. Modeling results indicated that a combination of competitive and Haldane inhibition kinetics is required to simulate dechlorination over a broad range of concentrations up to the solubility limits of PCE and TCE.
