  • This study compares and analyzes the fashion industry of Korea with that of China and Japan, the two countries geographically and culturally adjacent to Korea, by applying the generalized double diamond model to find useful measures to strengthen the global competitiveness of the Korean fashion industry. The fashion industries of Korea, China and Japan were first compared in terms of the four determinants of the double diamond model: thereafter, the double diamond model of Korea, China and Japan were compared. In this, study 31 sub-variables were extracted to measure the eight determinants and secondary data were collected from selected sources between January 2013 and May 2014. The results of comparing the domestic diamond models showed that: China is considerably better than Korea and Japan in terms of demand conditions, firm strategy, organization, and competition conditions while Japan is superior in terms of demand conditions and Korea shows better related and supporting industries conditions. When comparing and analyzing the international diamond models, Japan is superior in terms of factor conditions and China has better demand conditions, while Korea has failed to lead in any of the four determinants. When comparing and analyzing the comprehensive diamond model per country, China show superior demand conditions and firm strategy, organization, and competition conditions, Japan has better factor conditions, and Korea shows superior related and supporting industries conditions.

  • Marine production forecasting in fisheries is a crucial factor for managing and maintaining fishery resources. Thus this paper aims to generate a forecasting model of total marine production. The most generally method of time series model is to generate the most optimal single forecasting model. But the method could induce a different forecasting results when it does not properly infer a model To overcome the defect, I am trying to propose a single forecasting through multiple time series model. In other word, by comparing and integrating the output resulted from ARIMA and VAR model (which are typical method in a forecasting methodology), I tried to draw a forecasting. It is expected to produce more stable and delicate forecasting prospect than a single model. Through this, I generated 3 models on a yearly and monthly data basis and then here I present a forecasting from 2006 to 2010 through comparing and integrating 3 models. In conclusion, marine production is expected to show a decreasing tendency for the coming years.

  • This study aims to improve the heat performance of motor cycle disk due to the number of holes by analyzing 6 kinds of disk models. This disk performance depends on the efficiency at emitting the heat. To raise the efficiency of heat emission, holes with circle or another configuration are made on disks to emit heat fast. The distribution of temperature, heat flux, deformation and stress are analyzed. As the number of holes on disk increases, the performance of heat emission is improved. Equivalent stress is decreased and durability is improved as the number of holes on disk increases. Though the number of holes on disk is increased, the performances of heat emission and durability do not become better. The optimal model can be found by comparing models each other through this analysis result. Through this study result, the configuration of motor cycle disk is designed with optimal heat emission and durability by comparing models.

  • One of the most important factors in tall buildings design in urban spaces is wind. The present study aims to investigate the aerodynamic behavior in the square and triangular footprint forms through aerodynamic modifications including rounded corners, chamfered corners and recessed corners in order to reduce the length of tall buildings wake region. The method used was similar to wind tunnel numerical simulation conducted on 16 building models through Autodesk Flow Design 2014 software. The findings revealed that in order to design tall 50 story buildings with a height of about 150 meters, the model in triangular footprint with aerodynamic modification of chamfered corner facing wind direction came out to have the best aerodynamic behavior comparing the other models. In comparison to the related reference model (i.e., the triangular footprint with sharp corners and no aerodynamic modification), it could reduce the length of the wake region about 50% in general. Also, the model with square footprint and aerodynamic modification of chamfered corner with the corner facing the wind could present favorable aerodynamic behavior comparing the other models of the same cluster. In comparison to the related reference model (i.e., the square footprint with sharp corners and no aerodynamic modification), it could decrease the wake region up to 30% lengthwise.

  • This study aims to analyze durability by comparing displacement on vibration at driving bicycle frame models of 1, 2, 3 and 4. Among maximum equivalent stresses at 4 kinds of models, model 1 has highest value with 410.39 MPa and becomes 30 times than model 4 with lowest value. The natural frequency number at Model 4 increases more than the other models. Among four models, the number of frequency at model 1 becomes lowest at harmonic vibration with real loading condition. In cases of four kinds of models, the maximum stress is shown near the assembly of rear wheel and the maximum displacement is shown near saddle assembly at this harmonic condition. The structural result about this study can be effectively utilized on the design of bicycle frame by investigating durability and prevention against its damage.

  • Many models have been used to represent the effects of confining stress, bulk stress, and shear stress on the value of the resilient modulus (Mr). This study was conducted to estimate Mr of the recycled materials such as recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) and recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) through the repeated load cyclic test. Also, two models were applied to estimation of Mr for comparing between measured Mr values and predicted Mr values. The first model (A-model) can provide a quick and easy estimation of the Mr based on the bulk stress, while the second model (N-model) includes not only the bulk stress but also the shear stress. Statistical analysis indicated that all results using the both of models are significant at a 95 % confidence level. Therefore, the both of models could be used as an effective prediction model of Mr for RCA and RAP. Especially, the Model 2 including the parameters of the bulk stress and the shear stress could give more reliable estimation at the high range of Mr values.

  • For the acceleration and brake systems of an autonomous vehicle, the dynamic models from acceleration (brake) pedal input to driving(braking) torque at the vehicle wheel are represented by a set of linear transfer functions in this paper. We present an experimental method that can identify these models using a single rectangular pulse response data. Various magnitude of inputs with different running speeds are applied to experimental tests. All the identified models are demonstrated by the measured data. Both acceleration and brake models have been also validated by comparing the velocity of a full vehicle model associated with the proposed models with the measured vehicle velocity.

  • Recent studies proved turbulent flow properties in high-rise building models differ from those in low-rise building models by comparing turbulent statistics. Although it is important to understand the flow characteristics within and above high-rise building models in the study of urban environment, it is still unknown and under investigation. For this reason, we performed wind tunnel experiment using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) to investigate and identify the turbulent flow properties and characteristic flow patterns in high-rise building models. In particular, we focus on instantaneous flow field near the canopy and extracted flow field when homogeneous flow field were observed. As a result, six characteristic flow patterns were identified and the relationship between these flow patterns and turbulent organized structure were shown.

  • This paper presents thermal aging effect on fracture toughness properties of GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding) and SMAW (shielded metal arc welding) of 316L stainless steels, and investigates the applicability of the existing three thermal aging models for CASS (cast stainless steels). Thermal aging was carried out at 350 ℃ for up to 15,000h and at 400 ℃ up to 8,000h. After aging, tensile and fracture toughness tests using 0.5T C(T) specimens were carried out at room temperature and at 288 ℃. Comparing with the predictions using three (ANL, French and H3T) thermal aging models for CASS show that the predictions can be very non-conservative at operating temperature, and thus that the existing thermal aging models for CASS cannot be applied to the welded stainless steels.
