Deraining is one of the image restoration tasks and should consider a tradeoff between local details and broad contextual information while recovering images. Current studies adopt an attention mechanism which has been actively researched in natural language processing to deal with both global and local features. This paper classifies existing deraining methods and provides comparative analysis and performance comparison by using several datasets in terms of generalization.

The psychiatric patients as subjects were categorized herein into disease- and accident-triggered groups to statistically compare them with each other in terms of various comparative items. At a result, male patients were more dominant than females and physical workers were outnumbered by mental workers in the two groups. Also, patients were more apparent at workplaces with at least 100 employees than the ones with less than 100 employees, and patients whose employment period is at least one year were more vulnerable to stress-related mental disorders than the ones whose employment period falls short of one year. The foregoing findings suggest that there is a need to take preventive measures considering vulnerable aspects in terms of mental disorders.

This paper provides a design method for a dynamic output feedback controller which stabilizes a class of linear time invariant systems. We suppose all the states of the given system is not measurable and only the outputs are used to stabilize the system. The systems considered cannot be stabilized by a static output feedback only. In the scheme we first assume that the given system can be stabilized by a state feedback composed of its output, velocity of the output and its higher order derivative terms. Instead of using the derivatives of the output, however, a dynamic system is constructed systematically which replaces the role of the derivative terms. Then, a high-gain output feedback stabilizes the composite system together with the newly constructed system. The performance of the proposed control law is illustrated in the comparative simulation studies of a numerical example with an observer-based control law.

To improve maritime security and enhance international shipping commerce within US ports in addition to ISPS (International Ship and Port Facility Security Code), the TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) program is working on the maritime field from the October 15, 2008 in the United States. In this paper, the program is reviewed and investigated in terms of goal, benefit, solution, and related legislation so forth In addition, other maritime security programs including MMD (Merchant Mariner Document), FAST (Free and Secure Trade), SIDA (Security Identification Display Areas). and Air Cargo security program was analyzed and compared in order to obtain relationship and difference with the program in terms of enrollment frequency, list and method of security check, and profile of each program As a result of this paper, the program is mostly to improve maritime security, protect individual privacy, and enhance commerce rather than other programs.

The recent trend in the payment terms of international trade shows the gradual shift toward more diversified payment methods (from L/C to not L/C) in order to cope with the increasingly dynamic international transactions in a more flexible manner. The reasons behind this recent shift are as follows : first, the global trade market is breaking away from the traditional L/C methods based on letters of credit toward a not L/C methods. nother reason for the changing trade payment methods is the increasing volume of intra transactions between headquarters and their foreign subsidiaries based on collection payment methods. Having mentioned the above problems that impede the Korean export insurance system, some suggestions can be put forward through a comparative analysis with foreign export insurance system. First, inducing private investments is one way of strengthening financial health of the KEIC. The KEIC also needs to diversify its insurance coverage adapting to the changing international trade environments.

Here, the dynamic response characteristics of thick cross-ply laminated composite cylindrical shells are studied using a higher-order displacement model. The formulation accounts for the nonlinear variation of the in-plane and transverse displacements through the thickness, and abrupt discontinuity in slope of the in-plane displacements at any interface. The effect of inplane and rotary inertia terms is included. The analysis is carried out using finite element approach. The influences of various terms in the higher-order displacement field on the free vibrations, and transient dynamic response characteristics of cylindrical composite shells subjected to thermal and mechanical loads are analyzed.

The purpose of this study is examine the characteristics of public open space in the office buildings located in urban commercial strip, in terms of its relationships to street, to building, and to order surrounding facilities. Theoretical basis of this research is that public outdoor spaces are to be the intermediate territory set between streets and a buildings. 5 commercial buildings in Seoul are selected as sample cases and they were closely analyzed in a comparative manner. Based on this comparison, several planning guidelines are suggested for the activation of the space, mainly in terms of the location of public open space in relation to street, the design techniques and devises reflecting the purpose of the space, and territorial arrangement and furniture layout, and the patterns of relationship to surrounding space and facilities.

The aim of this study is to show the differences in acoustic parameters between a pathological voice /a/ caused by vocal polyp and a normal voice /a/ produced after LMS (Laryngeal Microscopic Surgery). It was expected that voices of two kinds could be analyzed effectively in terms of HNR in specific frequency bands than in all frequency bands. For this study, 10 patients' voice were recorded before and after LMS and then were manipulated in terms of four acoustic parameter. It was found out that (a) frequency bands of 500Hz in the range of 1,000Hz to 4,000Hz were very useful to obtain HNR values; (b) frequency bands in the range of 1,248Hz to 5,500Hz on a log scale were very useful to obtain HNR values; (c) F0 dropped after LMS but not significantly; (d) the bandwidth of the second formant (B2) decreased significantly after LMS, while that of the first formant (B1) decreased after LMS but not significantly.

In this paper, we try to explore basic factors that defines easy-to-learn programming language and easy-to-learn development environments for novice students who have not been exposed to computer programming language education. For these purpose, we investigate and analyze computer programming languages that are widely used in industrial environments, and present the summary and analyzed results. From the experimental results, most novice programmers understand computer programming languages in terms of procedural programming languages rather than in terms of functional programming languages or object oriented programming languages. Furthermore, we have found that, for effective education of basic level programming languages, factors of development environments are much more important than factors of programming paradigms that the computer programming languages are based on.

Definitions in elementary school mathematics textbooks are given to represent mathematical contents in terms of mathematical symbols and terms. In this study, we investigate the definitions in elementary school mathematics textbooks of the 7th and the revised 2007 curricula to comparatively analyze their contents and the way they are stated and suggest implications on teaching and learning mathematics.
