Evaluation and Selection Framework for a Venture Firm with New Technology in Optical Electronics Industry (BSC관점에서 AHP기법을 이용한 신기술 평가 및 선정에 관한 연구 - 광산업 신기술보육사업을 중심으로 -)

  • This study proposes a framework for an evaluation and selection of a venture firm with promising new technology in optical electronics industry to nurture that firm. The framework is intended to help practitioners to evaluate accurately and objectively new technologies. In addition, this study tests the usability and effectiveness of this framework with an actual certain case. More specifically, this study, first proposes that the framework for new technology evaluation is composed of financial perspective, market perspective, internal business perspective, and R&D and growing perspective. They are on the four perspectives of BSC(Balanced Score Card). Each perspective contains specific items. In addition, this study uses AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) to assess the comparative importance among the four perspectives and their specific items. Secondly, based on the results of AHP, the usability and effectiveness of the framework suggested in this study have been tested with a real case evaluating and selecting a promising venture firm. The results of the study have the following implications: this study has developed the framework for new technology evaluation which assists practitioners. Our framework offers the four perspectives and their specific items with their respective comparative importance. Furthermore, this study has verified that the proposed framework can be applicable in real situation with more accurate results.

Comparative Study on the Time Perspective between Korean and American College Students (한국과 미국 대학생의 시간전망에 대한 비교연구)

  • This paper compares the time perspective between Korean and American college students and examines the difference of it according to gender and social status of them. The subject of this study were 385 Korean students and 385 American counterparts. The data were collected by survey with questionnaires and analyzed by SPSS program for the frequency, percentile, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Duncan test. The results indicate that American students have more long-term personal direction than Korean counterparts and the effects of gender and social status are different in Korea and America. Korean students showed no difference according to these two variables but female America students indicate more long-term personal direction than male students and the time perspectives were different according to social status in America.

Establishing the Importance Weights of CRM Evaluation Factors through AHP analysis (AHP 기법을 활용한 CRM 평가요소의 상대적 중요도 분석)

  • As customer relationship management (CRM) has been increasingly adopted by corporations as a core business strategy, measuring performance of CRM is becoming an important managerial issue recently. In this study, we present a conceptual framework formeasuring CRM performance, and provide strategic priorities among the diagnostic perspectives and factors involved in the framework by analyzing their comparative weights. We first derived critical success factors of CRM from an extensive literature review and in-depth interviews with industrial and academic CRM experts, and categorized them into one of four different diagnostic perspectives. Then, we asked a group of CRM experts to evaluate each set of diagnostic factors in a pairwise fashion with respect to each perspective, computing their comparative weights by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique. In terms of diagnostic perspectives, this study shows that customer perspective was the most critical perspective, whereas infrastructure was the least weighted perspective. The result also discloses that explicit goal and top management's attitude, expanding customer relationship, strengthening customer loyalty, and enhancing customer equity are the most important factors in infrastructure, CRM process, customer, and organizational performance perspective, respectively.

The Effect of Expected Perspective on the Role of Genre and Attitude toward Utilizing Genre in Broadcast Ad on the Liking of Broadcast Ad Genre (방송광고에서 장르의 역할에 대한 기대관점과 활용에 대한 태도가 방송광고 장르에 대한 호감도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of expected perspective on the role of genre and attitude toward utilizing genre in broadcast ad on the liking of broadcast ad genre as appeal types of creativity. The results show that there is a significant correlation between macro-environmental expected perspective(MEEP) on the role of genre and a negative attitude toward utilizing genre in broadcast ad. A significant correlation between micro-practical expected perspective(MPEP) and a positive attitude was also found. Consumers with an integrated-situational expected perspective(ISEP) show a more significant relationship with the dual attitude. Consumes with a MPEP have a stronger liking on comparative ad and sex appeal ad, and consumers with an ISEP show a median liking. Consumers with positive attitude have a stronger liking on comparative ad and sex appeal ad, and consumers with a dual attitude show a median liking that is between the positive attitude-based consumers' and negative attitude-based consumers'.

  • Recent studies have shown that Korea has achieved similar or better environments for computer education in hardware perspective. However, in software perspective, many problems have been reported. We tried to suggest more effective ways of computer education based on the results from comparative study on computer education in Korea with respect to technology standards of USA.

Customer Perspective Analysis on Ubiquitous Healthcare Services

  • While ubiquitous healthcare (u-health) services were expected to propagate along with conventional healthcare services, recent progress indicated rather limited market acceptance. In this paper, we investigated the fundamental causes of why the consumer acceptance level of u-health services has been low. We draw upon innovation adoption theories to analyze the consumer readiness of the typical u-health services. The comparative analysis between innovative u-health services and conventional services was performed using analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Subsequently, policy and business implications including technological breakthrough insights were discussed based on the customer perspective comparative adoption analysis. The propositions captured through this study provide useful insight to further studies on u-health services.

Educational Objectives in Computing Education: A Comparative Analysis

  • This study examined three elementary school computing curriculum - the CSTA K-12 computer science standards, the computing programme of the national curriculum in England, and the 2015 national curriculum in Korea - focusing on the educational objectives with the perspective of the revision of Bloom's Taxonomy of Educational Objectives. The CSTA K-12 computer science standards mainly addressed applying procedural knowledge and using digital technology is the main theme. The computing programme in England concentrated on understanding factual and conceptual knowledge of computer science, such as algorithms. The 2015 national curriculum also addressed applying procedural knowledge, but the main focus is making softwares and robots. The findings of this comparative analysis suggest that it is needed to set up concrete educational objectives for lower grade and make them related to the secondary education to make more coherent elementary-level learning objectives. And elementary-level computing learning objectives are needed to be organized with the perspective of knowledge and cognitive process level.

A Comparative Study on Land Use and Spatial form of TOD Models in The United States and Japan, from a City-Scale Perspective

  • The transit-oriented development (TOD) model can effectively help to solve urban problems and promote sustainable urban development. The United States and Japan are widely considered the earliest two countries to start TOD practices; however, the origins of TOD models in the two countries were different. The TOD practices in the two countries formed distinct characteristics, yet their differences have been underexplored. This study aims to grasp the characteristics of the TOD model in the two countries through a systematic comparative analysis of 10 typical cities in the United States and Japan that have adopted the TOD model. This paper compares the case cities' three key aspects of the TOD model: public transit system, spatial form, and land use, and summarizes the characteristics of TOD models in the two countries from a city-level perspective, to help deepen the global understanding of TOD.

  • In that all aspects of education can be compared from an international perspective, Comparative Education can share research subjects with most of the subdisciplinary study of Education. Especially Educational Finance and Economics, which is an important part of institutions and policies of education, has been one of the important areas in Comparative Education studies. In this regard, this paper summed up the relationship between Comparative Education and Educational Finance and Economics. Not only for the development of Educational Finance and Economics itself, but also in point of view of Comparative Education, it is as follows to discuss several tasks for Educational Finance and Economics to develop from now on. First, it is necessary to diversify the methods and approaches to Educational Finance and Economics. Comparative Educational studies or exploration on Educational Finance and Economics should require additional analysis from a variety of perspectives. Second, more efforts should be made to establish an independent theoretical framework for Educational Finance and Economics. Comparative Education may also be interested in international comparisons of these theoretical orientations or directions of Educational Finance and Economics. Third, we have to secure the identity of the Korean Educational Finance and Economics. Various comparative educational studies on Educational Finance and Economics of Education from an international perspective should be attempted on the basis of indigenous and independent Educational finance and Economics. Educational Finance and Economics are areas in which comparative educational analysis is needed more than any other study field of Education. We look forward to more active research on Educational Finance and Economics in the future from a comparative educational standpoint.
