  • Purpose: This study was conducted to verify fall predictive power and reasonable fall risk assessment tool by a comparative analysis of the sensitivity, specificity, positive forecast and negative forecast of each tool by applying Morse Fall Scale (MFS), Johns Hopkins Fall Risk Assessment Tool (JHFRAT), and Fall Assessment Scale-Korean version (FAS-K) through electronic medical records to adult patients hospitalized in a general hospital in Korea. Methods: We performed a retrospective evaluation study from January to December 2018, 123 fall groups experiencing falls during hospitalization and 123 non-falls groups were selected. Data presented a reasonable assessment tool that predicts and distinguishes fall high-risk patients through area comparison based on the ROC curve for each tool. Results: In the ROC curve analysis by fall risk assessment group, the AUC of MFS is shown to be .706 (good), JHFRAT is shown to be .649 (sufficient) and FAS-K is shown to be .804 (very good). FAS-K at a cut-off score of 4, sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative prediction values were 83.7%, 60.2%, 67.8%, and 78.7%, respectively. Conclusion: Based on the above findings, it is believed that the FAS-K was presented as a suitable and reasonable tool for predicting falls for adult patients in general hospitals.

  • The present study examined the differences of system and problems of descriptive assessment at the national, district level, and school's levels between Korea and U.S.A. (focused on NCTM perspective). As results, both Korea and U.S.A. showed that their goals for descriptive assessment at the national level pointed out the importance of assessment of process rather than result. In addition, States of U.S.A. demonstrated concrete rubrics and examples to help many school teachers to use easily, while many Districts of Education in Korea presented implementation rate in school in order to give a official direction to teachers.

  • Background: Dust generated during the processing of building materials enterprises can pose a serious health risk. The study aimed to compare and analyze the results of ART and the Monte Carlo model for the dust exposure assessment in building materials enterprises, to derive the application scope of the two models. Methods: First, ART and the Monte Carlo model were used to assess the exposure to dust in each of the 15 building materials enterprises. Then, a comparative analysis of the exposure assessment results was conducted. Finally, the model factors were analyzed using correlation analysis and the scope of application of the models was determined. Results: The results show that ART is mainly influenced by four factors, namely, localized controls, segregation, dispersion, surface contamination, and fugitive emissions, and applies to scenarios where the workplace information of the building materials enterprises is specific and the average dust concentration is greater than or equal to 1.5 mg/m3. The Monte Carlo model is mainly influenced by the dust concentration in the workplace of building materials enterprises and is suitable for scenarios where the dust concentration in the workplace of the building materials enterprises is relatively uniform and the average dust concentration is less than or equal to 6mg/m3. Conclusion: ART is most accurate when workplace information is specific and average dust concentration is > 1.5 mg/m3; whereas, The Monte Carlo model is the best when dust concentration is homogeneous and average dust concentration is < 6 mg/m3.

  • The government has enforced the Green Building Certification System since 2002 to resolve environmental pollution from building construction projects. The Green Building Certification System offers additional financial incentive worth 3% of basic apartment unit construction cost for apartment housing projects that have passed preliminary certification and has been revitalized drastically since 2006. However, after the system was put in place, comparative analysis of each item in certification criteria has not been performed yet in reference to actual certification cases. This paper aims to provide a comparative analysis of such evaluation items by studying green building certification cases involving apartment housing. Conclusions drawn herein are expected to provide a framework of continued advancement for the certification system subsequently.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop and apply an environmental impact assessment program for apartment building elements, based on the building materials of the LCI DB, which can link the LCA results of building materials and buildings. Method: For this purpose, a framework for building elements was established, and several building material combinations were developed. In addition, the LCA method for quantifying environmental load emissions from the building materials of each site was applied to establish an environmental impact database of the building materials of the LCI DB. Result: An environmental impact assessment program, based on a Microsoft Excel worksheet, was developed for apartment building elements. This program can link the environmental impact assessment of building materials and building units. To validate the program evaluation results that were obtained in this study, a comparative analysis was carried out using the results of existing evaluation methods. The error rate was estimated to be 5% for environmental impact assessment using existing evaluation methods.

  • This paper focus on the analyzing objective bases for Proper assessment in Internet business mall. UP to now, assessment protocol of Internet business mall has been accomplished with financial factor, traffic factor and no quantitative factor respectively. But decision process of this malls value by one of these factors is not the best method. A new assessment model considering qualitative and quantitative factors is suggested and reviewed with existing model . As a result, a quantitative assessment protocol is appraised by a customer for the reason that this model includes not only comparative superiority between company but also weighting factor in assessment factors.

  • This study examines whether there is discrepancy between elementary and middle school mathematics teachers' beliefs and practices in constructed-response assessment and how their beliefs and practices are interrelated. Analyzing the responses of 212 elementary teachers and 189 middle school mathematics teachers to the questionnaire, we found that there is lack of consistency among elementary and middle school teachers' beliefs, practices, and expected benefits regarding constructed-response assessment. In addition, there was a weak correlation between each group of teachers' beliefs and expected benefits about constructed-response assessment. The results from this study imply that such inconsistency in elementary and middle school teachers' beliefs and practices regarding assessments may determine the effects of constructed-response assessment.
