A Comparison of Assessment of Child Friendly Cities by Parents and Child Service Providers in Selected Local Government (아동친화적인 지역사회에 대한 부모와 아동관계자의 인식 비교 - A기초자치단체를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the recognition of the Children's Rights Guarantees among parents and child service providers in a local community, and to explore ways to organize Child Friendly Cities. To this end, I analyzed survey data collected from a municipality based in Seoul, Korea, and discovered certain differences in recognitions of play and leisure, citizen and participation, safety and protection, health and social service, education, and housing. Among the six categories, the parents and child service providers recognized that education and housing were relatively well guaranteed whereas citizen and participation was less secure. Child service providers were more negative in the physical environment for building child-friendly community, while parents were more negative about the institutional / cultural environment, such as participation rights. Based on these findings, I suggested the following: First, the physical environment should refer to the standards of child welfare officers, and the institutional and cultural environment should refer to the parents' standards. Second, the participation of parents and child service providers as well as children should be expanded in the community decision-making process.

IECS: an Integrated E-Community System for Management, Decision and Service

  • The paper presents an Integrated E-Community System (IECS) for management, decision and service, designed for the e-government project of Haishu District of Ningbo, Zhejiang, China. The project need is to promote the integration of management information and service information of communities, providing a unified platform on which different departments of the district government can share and exchange community information, government officers can analyze information and make decisions, and the outside users can access and request services. To meet the project need, the IECS consists of five parts: 1) The Central DataBase (CDB) that stores all information related with management, decision and service of communities: 2) Information Extracting Subsystem (IES) that provides functions of extracting data from data sources, transforming and loading them into the CDB for system administrators; 3) Information Management Subsystem (IMS) that provides functions of querying and sharing of information for government users, and functions of information maintenance, rights and log management for system administrators: 4) Intelligent Analysis Subsystem (IAS) that provides functions of extracting analysis related data from the CDB and loading them into the DW, and functions of multi-dimensional analysis and decision-making based on the DW and OLAP for government users; 5) Information Service Website (ISW) that provides functions of promulgating and collecting of information for government users and system administrators, and functions of browsing, querying and requesting of service information for outside users. The IECS supports management, decision and service of a government based on a unified data platform--the CDB, and ensures data security by providing different workplaces and rights for different users. In the real application, the system works well.

Nutritional and Health Status of Korean Elderly from Low-Income, Urban Area and Improving Effect of Meal Service on Nutritional and Health Status -III.   • This study was designed to assess the effect of a meal service for home-staying urban elderly people with low-income on their protein nutrition status and serum lipids. One hundred and eighty three subjects, who had already completed the first nutritional survey were assigned to two groups : meal served(served) and non-meal served (non-served). A meal approximately containing one half of the RDA for energy, protein, calcium and iron was served as lunch everyday to served group. After 6 months of meal service, the second nutritional survey was done and changes of parameters were analyzed with paired t-test. Served females showed significantly increased intake of energy while non-served females showed significantly decreased intakes of energy, protein and fat after 6 months. Served males were observed with significantly higher intake of energy, fat, vitamin A, niacin and ascorbic acid, whereas intake of vitamin A was lower in non-served males. Arm circumference of both served and non-served females were significantly lowered after 6 months. Mean DBP of served males was significantly lower, while SBP of served females was significantly higher after 6 months of meal service. Serum total protein, serum albumin, serum cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol were significantly increased within normal range regardless of gender and meal service. But HDL-cholesterol was significantly higher in only served elderly subjects after 6 months. (Korean J Community Nutrition 1(2) : 228-238, 1996)

A Gap Analysis between Inpatients' and Personnel's Perception of Hospital Foodservice Quality (병원급식서비스의 질 인식에 대한 입원환자와 종사자간 괴리 분석)

  • The purposes of this study were to analyze the gap between foodservice personnel and inpatients, to urge foodservice providers to reconsider by identifying the problems in service delivery for customer satisfaction, and to deduce the priority for foodservice quality improvement. The results of this study can be summarized as follows : the average perception score of personnel (4.32 out of 5) was higher than that of customers (3.90). In particular, the customers' perceptions of 17 attributes, which included 'removal service of tray by foodservice personnel', 'nutrition and health-related information service', 'handling inpatient's complaint ASAP', 'delicious meals' and 'salty enough meals' and so on, was significantly lower than personnel's. Both service providers and customers perceived that 'personnel attitude' was the highest and 'meal quality' was the lowest among the 4 factors, but there was significant difference on 'meal quality'(p < .001), 'customer reception' (p < .001) and 'personnel attitude' (p < .05) between the two groups. As a results of quadrant analysis, 'removal service of tray by foodservice personnel', 'handling inpatient's complaints ASAP' and 'meal service according to doctor's orders were categorized into Quadrant A with meaning of high personnel's perceptions and low customers'. Therefore service providers have to perceive the gap between the two viewpoints and grant priority to these attributes in improving foodservice qualify. A Study on Home Care Service and the Level of Client Satisfaction in Community (일 지역사회의 가정간호서비스 내용 및 만족도 조사)

  • Purpose : This study was done to examine the home care service provided by home care nurses and the level of client satisfaction in community. Method : Data were collected from 120 clients who received the home care service at the community home care service center in Pusan from 2th May. 2003 to 31th May 2003. The tool for measurement of satisfaction was composed of 16 items and was 4 score scale by Kim. Data were analyzed by using SPSS/WIN 10.5 program. Result: 1) 67.5% among 120 clients was over sixty years old and 30.6% of clients received home visits 20 times by home care nurse. 2) The total number of home care services was 15,783. And most of the clients received therapeutic nursing care. 3) The mean score of satisfaction on provided home care services was 3.31, among 16 items, "The home care nurses kept up the secret of patients and family" was the highest($3.67{\pm}0.48$). the total level of satisfaction of home care services was very high, with mean score $3.31{\pm}0.32$. Conclusion : The satisfaction level of home care services was very high. so we can expect that the prospect of home care services is very challengeable. Therefore we should try to expand the service recipients with promotional education to assure close ties with the public health centers for the continuous home care service linking and make more efforts to improve the quality of the service.

  • In community computing environments, various members cooperate with each other systematically for attaining each community's goals. Because community computing environments are organized on the basis of PAN (Personal Area Network), each member commonly uses the power of batteries. If one member in community uses up the power of battery and does not operate normally, the community will not be able to provide the ultimate service goals for its users and be terminated finally. Therefore, it is necessary for accurate community operation to prevent a specific member's lifetime from terminating, as checking each member's power consumption in real-time. In this paper, we propose WEL (WEighted Leach) algorithm for optimizing lifetime of the members in community.

Effects of Service Quality and Food Quality on Purchase Intention in Electronic Commerce of Food Products (온라인상에서 식품구매 시 서비스품질과 식품품질이 구매의도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of service quality and food quality on purchase intention in the electronic commerce of food products. Specifically, the relationship between purchase intention and food quality and service quality was tested based on customer satisfaction and trust, which were measured using the structural equation modeling method. Quality of service was found to affect purchase intention; however, food quality had no positive effects on purchase. Additional analyses should be conducted owing to the conflicting results of the present study. Although the amount of food bought online is increasing rapidly every year, research regarding online food purchasing is not being actively conducted. The results of the present study will help food sellers, buyers, and researchers.

Differentiated impacts of SNSs on Participatory Social Capital in Korea

  • This study investigates whether different SNS with different characteristics have different impacts on participatory social capital in Korea. At least in Korea, SNS are categorized into five types (community, blog, micro-blog, profile-based service and instant message service), and participatory social capital is specified by three types (off-line political participation, on-line political participation, on-line civic engagement). Using Nielsen KoreanClick's web-based survey data, our regression analysis shows that SNS which are more open and focused on information sharing contribute more to participatory social capital.

A Study on Health Service Utilization and it's Determinants in the Low Income Family in Korea (한국 저소득층 주민의 보건의료서비스 이용행태와 그 영향요인에 관한 연구)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze health service utilization, and its related factors in low income families who earned half of the average Korean household income. Methods: This was a cross-sectional descriptive survey study in which a nationwide randomization sampling technique was used. The data were collected from July 12 to August 7, 1999, and the total sample size was 5,819 individuals, belonging to 1.753 households. Results: 1) In the utilization of health services for the last 3months, the pharmacy was the type of service that was the most utilized (32.0%), and the health center was the one that was the least utilized (10.3%). About 29% (29.2%) of the respondents could not utilize the health service at all. and 19.8% of the respondents terminated their medical treatments half way to completion because of financial difficulty (89.4%). 2) Analysis of the data using logistic regression showed that living with spouse, level of education, occupation, and income had statistically significant effects on health service utilization. Conclusion: The parameters of health care policies are equity and efficacy for health status, and the health service utilization by low income families. The conclusive resolution for these is the improvement of public health centers for an increased utilization rate of their services.

Determinants of Nutrition Service Utilization in Health Centers (보건소 영양서비스 이용실태 및 이용에 영향을 미친 요인)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the determinants of nutrition service utilization in health centers. Utilization of nutrition services for chronic discase were also investigated. Interview survey using questionnaire was conducted to collect the data required for analysis. The study subjects were 300 residents over 40 years of age, and 15 health workers representing health center service personnel in Kypnggi province. A wilcoxon 2-sample test and Kruskal-Wallis test were used to compare the distribution of health centers by health center characteristics and nutrition services. A chi-square test was used to test the association between service utilization and personal variables of the population. A multiple logistic regression analysis was used to measure the relative importance between the variables on service utilization. The results showed that only 10.0% of the study subjects used nutrition services provided by the health centers. Pilot project implementation and location of health centers, as well as educational level of the residents were significant factors influencing the utilization of the nutrition services provided by the health centers. Among the variables, pilot project implementation was the most important factor that influenced the nutrition service utilization in health centers.
