An Outline of the Need for Psychology Knowledge in Health Professionals: Implications for Community Development and Breast Cancer Prevention

  • Knowledge of health and community psychology in health professionals influences psychosocial and community determinants of health and promoting participation in disease prevention at the community level. This paper appraises the potential of knowledge on psychology in health care professionals and its contribution to community empowerment through individual behavior change and health practice. The authors proposed a schematic model for the use of psychological knowledge in health professionals to promote participation in health interventions/disease prevention programs in developing countries. By implication, the paper provides a vision on policies towards supporting breast cancer secondary prevention efforts for community health development in Asian countries.

현대 한국사회에서 공동체심리학의 방향: 공동체심리학의 기본 개념을 중심으로 (The Role of Community Psychology in the Contemporary Korean Society: Focusing on its' Core Concepts)

  • 미국에서 시작된 공동체심리학은 지난 50여년 동안 미국을 비롯한 다른 나라에서 많은 발전을 이루었지만, 아직까지 한국에서는 낯선 학문 분야이다. 본 논문은 공동체심리학의 기본 개념을 중심으로 공동체심리학에 대한 이해를 높이며 공동체심리학의 중요성과 실용성을 피력하고자 하는 목적을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 공동체심리학의 기본 개념 중 관점의 전환, 1차변화와 2차변화, 생태학적 관점과 분석 수준, 그리고 실천행동에 관한 내용을 소개함으로써 공동체심리학에 대한 이해를 돕고자 하였다. 더불어 이러한 기본 개념이 한국사회에서 어떻게 활용되고 어떤 방향을 제시할 수 있을지를 고민해 보았다. 궁극적으로 공동체심리학에 대한 대중적 인식을 도모하고, 이를 통해 심리학이 활용될 수 있는 영역을 넓히며, 현 한국사회의 문제를 해결하는데 이 분야가 긍정적인 기여를 할 수 있기를 기대한다.

예비유아교사의 긍정심리와 리더십과의 관계 (The Relation between the Positive Psychology of Would-be Child Teachers and Leadership)

  • This research is looking for the relation between the positive psychology of would-be child teachers and leadership and that's influence. The researchers examined positive psychology and leadership with 330 would-be teachers(13 boys, 317 girls) located in Gwang-Ju and the Jeonnam Region. Questionnaire was used to measure would-be teachers. The collected data analyzed the positive psychology of would-be teachers and leaders, including sub-factors for mean(M), standard deviation(SD) and Pearson product-moment correlation according to subject for inquiry. Then regression analysis through SPSS WIN 17.0 for checking the effects of the would-be child teachers's positive psychology with their leadership skill was used. The result of the research was that the positive psychology of would-be child teachers and leadership of the product-moment correlated in all areas. Especially the most influence on positive psychology is the ability of human relationship among leadership sub-variables, and the relation between positive psychology and leadership are very important for making positive changes in society. This implies that there is a need for more educational sponsorship regarding positive psychology and leadership for would-be child teachers.

긍정심리향상 프로그램이 노인의 우울과 죽음불안에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of a Positive Psychology Improvement Program on Elders' Depression and Death Anxiety)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of a positive psychology improvement program on elders' depression and death anxiety. Methods: This was conducted as a quasi-experimental study with non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The participants were community elders aged over 65 recruited by convenient sampling. A total of 94 elders (32 in the individual experimental group, 32 in the collective experimental group, and 30 in the control group) participated. Data were collected between April and September, 2012 and analyzed by using SPSS/WIN 21. Results: The individual and group approach experimental groups had significantly lower scores of depression than the control group after the treatment (F=7.50, p=.001). For death anxiety, however, only the individual experimental group had a significantly lower score compared to the control group (F=4.56, p=.013). Conclusion: These results indicate that the positive psychology improvement program was effective in decreasing depression and death anxiety in the elderly. Therefore, the program needs to be applied in a customized way fittingly to the characteristics of the elderly in community, and individually and/or collectively according to its purposes.

공동체의식의 함양에서 본 한국 학교교육의 문제점 (Problems of Korean School Education Seen from the Standpoint of Enhancement of Community Spirit)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 한국의 학교교육이 학생들의 공동체의식을 함양하는데 기여하고 있는지 여러 문헌과 자료들에 근거해서 알아보는 것이다. 공동체의식과 밀접하게 관련 있는 주제로, 학교에서 이루어지고 있는 도덕교육, 학생들의 자원봉사활동 및 한국사회에 대한 인식을 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 우리의 학교교육은 공동체의식을 함양하는데 그 목적을 두기 보다는 개인의 목표를 달성하기 위한 도구적 기능에 국한되어 있었다. 도덕교육은 형식적인 수준에 머물러 있었으며, 자원봉사활동도 점수를 따기 위한 의무적인 활동의 성격이 강했다. 학생들의 학교와 한국국민 및 한국사회에 대한 인식도 상당히 부정적이었다. 결론에서, 이러한 현실에 대한 비판적 시각에서 공동체의식을 함양할 수 있는 방안을 논의하였다.

긍정심리기반 성격강점 통합활동 프로그램이 농촌 독거노인의 우울, 활력, 생활만족도에 미치는 효과 (Effectiveness of a Positive Psychology-based and Character Strengths-integrated Activity Program on Depression, Vitality, Life Satisfaction in Elderly Living Alone in Rural Areas)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a positive psychology-based and character strengths-integrated activity program for elders living alone in rural areas, and then to examine the effectiveness of the program. Methods: A quasi-experimental pre- and post-test design with a nonequivalent control group was used. The participants included 59 elders in total, of whom 30 were assigned to the experimental group and 29 to the control group. positive psychology-based and character strengths-integrated activity program for elders consists of sixty-minute sessions held twice per week during 6 weeks, hence 12 sessions in total. Results: There were significant differences between the experimental and control groups in depression, vitality and life satisfaction (all p<.001). Conclusion: The positive psychology-based and character strengths-integrated activity program for elders living alone in rural areas is effective in that it decreased the degree of depression and increased the vitality and life satisfaction in the participants.

활동적인 노인의 일상적 활동 참여가 시민참여 행동에 미치는 영향: 소공동체 응집성의 매개효과와 소공동체 이기주의의 조절효과 (The Effect of Active elderly' Participation in Everyday activities on Citizen Participation: The mediating effect of Small Community Cohesion and the moderating effect of Small Community Selfishness)

  • 저출산과 평균수명의 증가로 국내 고령인구의 비중이 지속적으로 늘어나고 있다. 이러한 인구 구조의 변화는 연령과 상관없이 노년기의 활동을 증가시켰고, 이에 따라 변화하고 있는 노년기 인구의 특성에 대한 연구가 다수 진행되고 있다. 본 연구는 노년기의 활동이론에 기반을 둔 활동적 노년에 관심을 갖고 활동적인 노인의 소공동체활동 참여가 우리 사회에 미치는 긍정적, 부정적인 영향에 초점을 맞추었다. 구체적으로 활동적 노인의 일상적 활동과 소공동체활동 참여가 지역사회 문제해결이나 선거 참여 등 사회적 시민 활동에 적극적으로 참여하는 '시민참여'에 영향을 미치는지, 그리고 그 과정에서 소공동체 응집성의 매개효과와 소공동체 이기주의의 조절효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 소공동체에 소속되어 활동하고 있는 노인 700명을 대상으로 일상적 활동 참여, 소공동체 응집성, 소공동체 이기주의, 시민참여를 측정하여 단계적 회귀분석과 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 일상적 활동 참여와 시민참여 간의 관계에서 소공동체 응집성의 매개효과가 나타났고, 소공동체 이기주의의 조절효과 역시 유의했다. 이러한 결과는 고령사회의 양적, 질적 측면에서 점증하고 있는 노년기 인구의 활발한 시민참여가 사회에 미칠 영향력이 적지 않다는 점을 고려했을 때, 국가 및 이해관계자들이 노인의 일상적인 활동 참여와 소공동체 응집성 및 소공동체 이기주의 성향을 고려하여 노인들의 시민참여 정책이나 사회 참여 프로그램을 개발하거나 진행할 필요가 있다는 점을 시사한다.

온라인 커뮤니티에서 공동체의식과 관계의 질, 고객충성도간의 관계에 관한 연구 : 만족, 신뢰, 몰입의 매개효과를 중심으로 (Relationships Among Sense of Community in Online Community, Relationship Quality and Customer Loyalty: The Mediating Effects of Satisfaction, Trust and Commitment)

  • Online community as a business model has gotten much attention in online market. And it has been recognized as an increasingly important tool for better understanding and relationships with customers. Thus, There are needs for conducting researches, such as those being performed in social psychology area. Due to the lack of current researches on online community, variables that have been considered in social science and factors in relationship marketing are adopted in this study. The primary purpose of this research is to develop and test a model that explains the process of how sense of online community through relationship quality influences customer loyalty. The major findings of this study are as follows: First, sense of online community was found to have a positive influence on relationship quality. Second, relationship quality was found to have a strong positive effect on customer loyalty. Finally, relationship quality was found to have a mediation effect between the sense of online community and the customer loyalty. Implications of these findings are discussed for researchers and practitioners.

대학생의 COVID-19에 대한 두려움, 정신장애 및 정신적 웰빙 간 관계 (The relationship among fear of COVID-19, mental disorder and mental wellbeing for college students)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to identify differences in fear of COVID-19 according to types of positive mental health in college students, and to verify the moderating effect of mental well-being in the relationship between mental disorders and fear of COVID-19. Methods: The results of 1,542 college students' responses to the COVID-19 Fear Scale, Korean Mental Disorder Scale, and Korean Mental Health Scale were analyzed. According to the presence of mental disorders and the level of mental well-being (high, medium, and low) of the participants which were assessed by the Korean Mental Disorder Scale and the Korean Mental Health Scale, participants were classified into five mental health groups. And the difference in fear of COVID-19 between groups was identified by one-way ANOVA. In addition, it was identified whether the moderating effect of mental well-being was significant in the relationship between mental disorders and fear of COVID-19 using hierarchical regression analysis. Results: When participants were classified by positive mental health types, the flourish group had significantly lower fear of COVID-19 than the moderate mental health group and the languishing group. The moderating effect of mental well-being was significant in the relationship between mental disorder and fear of COVID-19. Additionally, the reducing effect of mental well-being upon fear of COVID-19 was greater when the severity of mental disorder was lower. Conclusions: Basically, in the case of groups with mental disorders, efforts to reduce mental disorders should be given first and foremost. In contrast, for groups without mental disorders, psychological interventions to raise levels of mental well-being are likely to help reduce fear of COVID-19.
