Among various service characteristics, the physical environment is one of important contributors to service quality. In public service buildings, public community facilities serve as arena for education, social interaction, leisure, health activities for community districts. The purpose of this study is to investigate the physical state of public community facilities and expectations of users toward physical environment and service aspects. Site visits to four public community facilities and survey method were conducted for this study. One hundred ninety two questionnaires were analyzed. It is found that the majority of users are housewives and live near the community facilities. In order to provide more equal benefits and service to the public, it is suggested that smaller facilities should be provided in several sites instead of providing a large complex community facility to one area. Facility users indicated larger gaps between expectation and current state of the facilities regarding lack of storage, noise and ease to use. In general, physical characteristics should be more improved than employee's attitude and service behavior, which result in service quality.
In order to cope with the demands of the rapidly changing society, advanced countries enrolled in OECD have been establishing corresponding directions as integrating their fields in economy, society, and education as one system. To be a part of the international changes, Korea has presented "Mixed-Use of schools and community facilities." "Mixed-Use of schools and community facilities" enables schools to expand necessary facilities, which were not secured due to insufficient budget, through community funding. Communities could not secure enough convenient facilities because they did not have enough sites for the facilities; however, school sites have made the communities possible to have facilities. As a result, the demand for "Mixed-Use of schools and community facilities" has increased. Therefore, this study redefines the concept of the Mixed-Use of School Facilities in the perspective of the main users, researches the current state of the Mixed-Use of School Facilities through case studies in Korea, and intends to research preferences of the synthesis through surveys. In addition, the study proposes the proper size and the standard of the facilities that are possible to synthesize them with schools. In the future, in running this Mixed-Use of School Facilities business, the data from this study can be utilized.

For systematic performed this process, this study regulated role of local resident, expert and local government on remodeling process stage.
Being able to enjoy leisure time for adolescents is a necessary activity, for it helps them relieve their anxiety and stress and develop their potential. It is necessary to incorporate such spaces in the housing plans in advance and support diverse community activities. The current living spaces do not hold proper spaces and facilities for community activities appropriate for adolescents. Community facilities should be planned so as to reflect the needs of these adolescents, based on a clear survey in advance. The current study has conducted a survey to find out about the level of satisfaction and requests from adolescents on the leisure facilities their current living spaces hold. Based on this prior research, this study looks for solutions that could solve the issue at hand. The current community facilities are not convenient to support a diversity of leisure activities to the adolescents. The community facilities should be able to supplement information on the various activities put in place for the youth and widely supply the programs in demand. Furthermore, the adolescents wanted to form their own community within the facilities to practice their leisurely activities. We can safely assume that the youth's desire for more community amenities will increase for their own development.

Focusing on size, factors, and layout that were being faced by community facilities in most rural villages, This study investigated the number of users, the characteristics of traffic line and behavior, and the using behavior by group; through considering their correlation with the physical setting of community space, it deduced the problems of use; and it proposed the direction of improvement on the basis thereof. With the changing consciousness of community people and the rising standard of living, there has recently been an emphasis on the creation of public facilities' new functions and their role as local community facilities. This changing trends are accordingly requiring a change in spatial structure of the public facilities. In this study, an analysis was conducted with 24 public facilities situated in the Buk-gu district of Daegu to identify the adequacy of their space scale after functional variation. The results of this study are summarized as follows. 1) The site area of public facilities has been being widened after functional variation since more spaces are needed to provide an outdoor resting space with community people, expand a parking space, and operate a community center. 2) The factors that had a direct effect on the change in the use of space are the reduced space for administrative work and the expanded scope of the community center's function. Specifically, the areas of activities for civil service and administrative work and for reserve forces have been reduced due to reduction of function, and floor division by each function group has been becoming stricter due to addition of a community center's function. 3) It was shown that in terms of the space for functions of public facilities, spaces for civil service and waiting have increased mostly after function variation. After functional variation, the scale of spaces for civil service and administrative work has been being planned within the range of $200\~300 m^2$, regardless of the number of population to be covered by public facilities. 4) The space for public use is showing the greatest increase in public facilities which have been built after functional variation. The major factors seem to be the increased moving passages, the expanded convenient facilities for community people, and the increased convenient facilities for disabled. Facilities scale plans have been being made more systematically, compared to the conventional facilities.
