Development of the Nursing Competency Scale for Outpatient Nurses in a Tertiary Hospital (상급종합병원 외래간호사의 간호역량 평가도구 개발)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify nursing competencies of outpatient nurses, to develop a tool to assess the same, and to verify the validity and reliability of the tool. Method: Preliminary items of the scale were developed based on a literature review and nurses' interviews. The tool's content validity was verified by an expert panel and by conducting a pilot study. Subsequently, to verify the validity and reliability of the scale, data were collected from 233 outpatient nurses from 7 certified tertiary hospitals. Data were analyzed using exploratory factor analysis, independent t-test, and internal consistency and correlation analysis. Result: The factor analysis revealed the following 9 factors for the 48 items of the scale: organizational management, customer orientation, personality and ethics, problem solving, nursing practice, interpersonal relationships, communication, crisis management, and professionalism. The Cronbach's α coefficient of the final instrument was .97. Conclusion: The tool developed in this study exhibited adequate validity and reliability. It was effective in reflecting the changing roles of outpatient nurses. Therefore, in future, this tool is expected to help improve outpatient nurses' competencies and nursing quality.

Design of a Multiband Frequency Selective Surface

  • A frequency selective surface (FSS), whose unit cell consists of a ternary tree loop loaded with a modified tripole, is proposed to block multiple frequency bands. Target frequency bands correspond to Korean personal communication services, cellular mobile communication, and 2.4 GHz industrial, scientific, and medical bands. Through the adjustment of inter-element and inter-unit cell gaps, and adjustment of the length of elements, we present an FSS design method that makes the precise tuning of multiple resonance frequencies possible. Additionally, to verify the validity of our approach, simulation results obtained from a commercial software tool and experimental data are also presented.

  • The importance of training for NC, CNC and Machining Center has been greatly increased. This paper presents implementation of a DNC system and operating software for educational purpose. This system is able to connect 8-32 CNCs to Control PC with RS232 multi-port serial card. Therefore, it allows much efficiency in training even after costs are considered. The KISCO DNC S/W for above system includes various communication function, communication parameter setting, program editor, tool management and user-friendly environment.

  • This paper address the problem of tracking multiple objects encountered in many situation in developing condensation algorithms. The difficulty lies on the fact that the implementation of condensation algorithm is not easy for the general users. We propose an automatic code generation program for condensation algorithm using MATLAB tool. It will help for general user who is not familiar with condensation algorithm to apply easily for real system. The merit of this program is that a general industrial engineer can easily simulate the designed system and confirm the its performance on the fly.

  • In this study, we newly formulated the link capcity allocation problem and the link capacity allocation and routing problem in an voice/data integrated network by the fuzzy set concept. We developed efficient algorithms for the above fuzzified problems and successfully showed that the fuzzy set theory is the powerful tool for the design problems in communication networks.

  • Baseboard Management Controller(BMC) supports server monitoring, maintenance, and control functions using various communication interfaces. However, if an unexpected problem occurs during the device driver initialization process, the BMC may not operate normally. Therefore, a boot process profiling tool that accurately analyzes the device driver initialization process and provides a function to check the analysis result is essential. Existing boot process profiling tools do not specifically provide the device driver initialization process and results required for BMC boot process analysis, forcing developers to use a combination of tools to analyze the boot process in detail. In this paper, we propose an integrated profiling tool for BMC's booting process. The proposed tool provides device driver initialization process analysis, CPU and memory usage analysis, and kernel version management functions. Users can easily analyze the booting process using the proposed tool, and the analysis result can be used to shorten the booting time. Also, the proposed tool is implemented in Linux-based BMC, and it is shown that the proposed tool is more efficient than the existing profiling tool.

Evaluation Research on Smart Mirror UX for Efficient Communication of the IoT Generation (IoT 시대 효과적인 커뮤니케이션을 위한 스마트미러 UX 평가 연구)

  • IoT utilized network vitalization between objects are being rapidly established within current IT communication environment. Therefore the worth of smart mirrors is rising for it is a tool to allow online network between objects to be possible in human communication environment. For effective IoT generation's communication, this research intends to evaluate the smart mirror's value for practical uses based on the users' experiences. For the UX evaluation according to the locations where it will be used, Peter Morville's Honeycomb model and Jocob Nielsen's usage evaluation principles were referred to analyze effectiveness of 4 factors, utilization convenience, communication effectiveness, mass interest and space adequateness on households, public places and work places. Hence, we have were led to an objective result through statistical analysis method based on survey. As a result, we have confirmed the smart mirror's positive influence on the users' effective communication in all places. Especially in households, utilization convenience and space adequateness appeared to be high that confirmed sufficient users' need for the home-automation services. In public places, the communication effectiveness and space adequateness ranked high to confirm that the smart mirror utilization is adequate to provide location information. Also, in work places, the mass adequateness was high that we were able to confirm that supply of work place-specific service contents would bring meaningful results to the users. The smart mirrors are the adequate method to provide effective communication in IoT generation with high possibilities in further development.

The Feasible Linkage Between Organizational Commitment and Employee Communication

  • Purpose - The current study will provide a cause-effect explanation that will reinforce the existing perception that effective communication fosters organizational communication. The findings will also empower organizations with information on why they must polish their communication strategies. Research design, Data, and methodology - This study has collected numerous textual datasets through 'Qualitative Content Approach' (QCA). The author of this research had a responsibility to develop comprehensible methods for categorizing and drawing inferences from raw data in addition to data collecting tactics that may effectively solicit representations. Result - The current study ultimately concludes that effective communication is the most cost-effective tool for motivating employees. Two-way organization communication allows employees to communicate the hardships they encounter in their job. The result of this is adjustments that are geared towards eliminating work-related challenges. Total four suggestions exist for practitioners in the main texts on 'Results' section. Conclusion - According to theoretical research, organizational commitment is anchored on the ability of an organization's leadership to communicate the organization's values to lower-level employees. Moreover, the findings reiterate the importance of creating leadership systems that embody an organization's core values. Communication systems that engender this ensure that management discloses the rationale for their business and corporate strategies to employees.
