  • In the era of the fourth industrial revolution, advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things(IoT) and big data are emerging. However, the level of application of IoT to indoor environment is very weak. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a system for analyzing air pollutants or indoor air quality through real-time monitoring using the IoT. This paper implements a system that measures indoor environmental values using Arduino and various sensors, and stores the information obtained from various sensors into a database of server. The information stored in the server was built as a database and utilized in the ventilation system or air cleaner installed in the home or company's room. In the proposed system, it is possible to check the immediate indoor environmental condition through the LED status display of the monitoring sensor module while reducing the cost of the sensor used to implement IoT technology.

  • This paper proposes a vision-based food recognition method for automated production of custom cakes. A small camera module mounted on a food art printer recognizes objects' shape and estimates their center points through image processing. Through the perspective transformation, the top-view image is obtained from the original image taken at an oblique position. The line and circular hough transformations are applied to recognize square and circular shapes respectively. In addition, the center of gravity of each figure are accurately detected in units of pixels. The test results show that the shape recognition rate is more than 98.75% under 180 ~ 250 lux of light and the positioning error rate is less than 0.87% under 50 ~ 120 lux. These values sufficiently meet the needs of the corresponding market. In addition, the processing delay is also less than 0.5 seconds per frame, so the proposed algorithm is suitable for commercial purpose.

  • Secure operating system is a special operating system that integrates some security functions(i.e. access control, user authentication, audit-trail and etc.) with normal operating system in order to protect system from various attacks. But it doesn't consider my security of network traffic. To guarantee the security of the whole system, network traffic must be protected by a certain way and IPsec is a representative technology for network security. However, it requires administrator's carefulness in managing security policies and the key management mechanism is very heavy as well as complicated. Moreover, it doesn't have a suitable framework for delivery of security information for access control mechanism. So we propose a simple trusted channel mechanism for secure communication between secure operating systems. It provides confidentiality md authentication for network traffic and ability to deliver security information. It is implemented at the kernellevel of IP layer and the simplicity of the mechanism can minimize the overhead of trusted channel processing.

  • Koinonia system is designed to fully utilize the advantage of Binary CDMA so as to guarantee QoS in wireless networks. In this paper, we propose the new network structure based on this system and refer to it as BLAN(Binary CDMA LAN). Although BLAN is similar structure to IEEE 802.11 WLAN, it will ensure the fast handover and QoS. We also propose the AKA(Authentication and Key Agreement) protocol and Reauthentication protocol to be used for communication in BLAN. These protocols are securely and efficiently designed using the user identity module to support the more powerful authentication. Hence, BLAN, including the proposed protocols, will support the high mobility and security. In conclusion, we expect that BLAN can be applied to future infrastructure on special environment, and it can be helpful showing the new network model which alternate WLAN.

  • One of the Embedded systems Tiny Processing Unit (TPU) usually acts in harsh environments like external shock or insufficient power. In these cases, data could be polluted, and cause critical problems. As a solution to data pollution, many embedded systems are using Error Correcting Code (ECC) to protect and restore data. However, ECC processing in TPU increases the overall processing time by increasing the time of instruction fetch which is the bottleneck. In this paper, we propose an architecture of parallelized ECC block to the reduce bottleneck of TPU. The proposed architecture results in the reduction of time 10% compared to the original model, although memory usage increased slightly. The test is evaluated with a matrix product that has various instructions. TPU with proposed parallelized ECC block shows 7% faster than the original TPU with ECC and was able to perform the proposed test accurately.

  • Document page segmentation is an important step in building a quality optical character recognition module. The study examined already existing work on the topic of page segmentation and focused on the development of a segmentation model that has greater functional significance for application in an organization, as well as broad capabilities for managing the quality of the model. The main problems of document segmentation were highlighted, which include a complex background of intersecting objects. As classes for detection, not only classic text, table and figure were selected, but also additional types, such as signature, logo and table without borders (or with partially missing borders). This made it possible to pose a non-trivial task of detecting non-standard document elements. The authors compared existing neural network architectures for object detection based on published research data. The most suitable architecture was RetinaNet. To ensure the possibility of quality control of the model, a method based on neural network modeling using the RetinaNet architecture is proposed. During the study, several models were built, the quality of which was assessed on the test sample using the Mean average Precision metric. The best result among the constructed algorithms was shown by a model that includes four neural networks: the focus of the first neural network on detecting tables and tables without borders, the second - seals and signatures, the third - pictures and logos, and the fourth - text. As a result of the analysis, it was revealed that the approach based on four neural networks showed the best results in accordance with the objectives of the study on the test sample in the context of most classes of detection. The method proposed in the article can be used to recognize other objects. A promising direction in which the analysis can be continued is the segmentation of tables; the areas of the table that differ in function will act as classes: heading, cell with a name, cell with data, empty cell.

  • Irrigation return flow is defined as the excess of irrigation water that is not evapotranspirated by direct surface drainage, and which returns to an aquifer. It is important to quantitatively estimate the irrigation return flow of the water cycle in an agricultural watershed. However, the previous studies on irrigation return flow rates are limitations in quantifying the return flow rate by region. Therefore, simulating irrigation return flow by accounting for various water loss rates derived from agricultural practices is necessary while the hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of cultivated canal-irrigated watersheds. In this study, the irrigation return flow rate of agricultural water, especially for the entire agricultural watershed, was estimated using the SWMM (Storm Water Management Model) module from 2010 to 2019 for the Madun reservoir located in Anseong, Gyeonggi-do. The results of SWMM simulation and water balance analysis estimated irrigation return flow rate. The estimated average annual irrigation return flow ratio during the period from 2010 to 2019 was approximately 55.3% of the annual irrigation amounts of which 35.9% was rapid return flow and 19.4% was delayed return flow. Based on these results, the hydrologic and hydraulic modeling approach can provide a valuable approach for estimating the irrigation return flow under different hydrological and water management conditions.

  • Recently, the capacity of video content delivery services has been increasing significantly. Therefore, the importance of user recommendation is increasing. In addition, these contents contain a variety of characteristics, making it difficult to express the characteristics of the content properly only with a few keywords(Elements used in the search, such as titles, tags, topics, words, etc.) specified by the user. Consequently, existing recommendation systems that use user-defined keywords have limitations that do not properly reflect the characteristics of objects. In this paper, we compare the efficiency of between a method using voice data-based subtitles and an image comparison method using keyframes of images in recommendation module of educational video service systems. Furthermore, we propose the types and environments of video content in which each analysis technique can be efficiently utilized through experimental results.
